Workation Trend: Remote Work from the Campsite
Work where others go on holiday: An increasing number of people use flexible options and innovative technologies and choose to work on the road. That's not surprising: The combination of work and vacation is high in demand, especially with campers.
Campers appreciate freedom and flexibility. If you have the opportunity to work remotely and have a motorhome or caravan on your doorstep, you are particularly happy to move your office to the beach relatively easily. Vvehicle manufacturers are also responding to the trend towards mobile working on campsites and are designing their models in such a way that, for example, an office with the necessary infrastructure can be created from the seating and dining area in no time at all. At the same time more and more campsites are upgrading and attracting guests with appealing coworking spaces and excellent conditions for remote working.
Especially in the upcoming cold autumn and winter months, a workation in the south is a great option for escaping the dreary weather - even if you've already used up all your time off. Whether Spain, Italy or France: With us you will find the best campsites for remote working under the sun.

Attention: Legal Requirements for your Workation
If you work abroad as a camper, e.g. work for your employer based in Germany from the campsite in Spain, then some legal requirements (depending on the right of residence) can play badly into your workation cards. Your situation is better if the employer has a subsidiary in the country where you are currently working remotely from. In this case, the issuance of a work and residence permit can be done relatively easily.
You should also seek professional advice on the subject of social security. In principle, the provisions of national law always apply when working abroad (unless, for example, there is a posting or regular employment in several Member States). Since July 1, 2023, however, there has been a new multilateral framework convention for workation abroad. Under certain circumstances, an exemption agreement can then be made with the relevant authority abroad to ensure that German social security legislation continues to apply to you. Be sure to check with your employer before working abroad.
