Safety Deficiencies
Overall, the campground was very crowded during our stay and at times even overcrowded. We were generally fine with that.

The restroom facilities varied greatly: If you went at the right time, they were clean and tidy. However, you could also get unlucky and find them in a very neglected state. To be... fair, we wouldn’t blame the cleaning staff for this, as they were regularly on site and did their best. Rather, it seems difficult to keep the restroom areas in good condition at all times given the large number of guests.

One major point of criticism for us, however, was the situation with e-bikes and e-scooters. Some of them were zipping around the campground at completely inappropriate speeds. With a two-year-old child, it was nearly impossible to move around the campground freely and relax, as we constantly had to worry that the child would be hit. Especially at a family-friendly campground, there is an urgent need to enforce walking speed limits and relevant rules—and to actually monitor compliance with them.

Unfortunately, our experience with the staff was not particularly positive either. When we brought up the issue with the e-bikes and e-scooters, we were treated very rudely. In our opinion, objective feedback regarding a safety issue—especially when small children are involved—should be handled differently.

We were also disappointed by the value for money on site. We found the prices at the restaurant to be significantly inflated, especially given the quality and type of food offered. For food that, for the most part, seemed to us like simple frozen or convenience products, the prices charged were incomprehensible to us.

The lake itself didn’t exactly invite us to go swimming either. During our stay, there was an unpleasant musty odor and a very heavy growth of algae.

Overall, the campground certainly has potential, but for us, the negative aspects outweighed the positives. In our opinion, there is a clear need for improvement, particularly regarding traffic safety on the grounds and how the staff handles feedback from guests.

A nice spot with a lack of restroom facilities
There weren't enough showers and washing facilities in our area, and they weren't cleaned often enough. Sometimes we had to wait half an hour with the kids in front of the shower.
The prices for groceries and other items in the store are way overpriced. It was almost worth driving to Winsen every morning.

A beautiful spot in the Lüneburg Heath
Easy to get to via the A7. The campground is beautifully situated on the Lüneburg Heath by the lake. Lots of activities for families. We were just passing through for one night, but we enjoyed the lovely hiking trail around the lake. We highly recommend this campground.

Beautiful Campground
A very nice campground. The restroom facilities were modern and clean. The campsites were plenty big. We were there with friends. A friend stayed overnight in a tent on our site. The only thing I didn’t like was that she had to pay not just for an additional adult, but the full price as if she were staying... on her own site in the tent area. But she didn’t take up any space—she was with us.

Perhaps they could put up signs at the beginning of the roads—just like they did at the entrance to the campground—for the 3,000 campsites, so people know which sites are located there.

Otherwise, everything was great. I’d camp there again. 🙂

There's plenty to do for families with children

A beautiful and clean campground
The campground is beautifully landscaped and clean. There are plenty of activities for all ages: pedal boats for the little ones, pedal boats for everyone on the lake, a bouncy castle, table tennis, and go-karts for the kids. We were there with our two small dogs, though. There is a dog park where dogs... can run freely, with a small pond nearby, but it turned out to be a muddy little ditch, so we decided not to let our dogs in it after all. And dogs aren’t allowed in the swimming lake. We were at the campground last week when it was over 30 degrees, so cooling off was out of the question—after all, who would leave their dog in or by the camper to enjoy a nice day at the lake? The bistro offers some simple but tasty meals. At the mini-market, you can get fresh rolls and plenty of other items you might have forgotten to bring. Unfortunately, our spot was in the second row next to the long-term campers, who felt the need to blast their pop music at us all day long. For us as dog owners, the campground unfortunately wasn’t the right fit. It’s perfect for families with children, though.

Camping with the Family
We'd love to come back next year.
The grounds are well-maintained, the lake is perfect for stand-up paddleboarding, and our daughter loves the trampoline area, the children's pedal boats, and the dance arch. We would have liked the restrooms to be a bit cleaner.

Unfortunately, our stay was disappointing overall, especially in terms of value for money. The stay is very expensive for what’s offered.

The restaurant is also barely affordable for families. A serving of fries costs €5, the cheapest burger is €12.90, and most other burgers are around €17.90. The ice... cream is also incredibly expensive, so if you have several children, you really have to think twice about whether you can afford it.

Unfortunately, we also felt that the restrooms and showers weren’t clean enough. In my opinion, they weren’t cleaned often enough—I had the impression that this was done at most once a day.

For such a large campground, there are also only 5 washing machines. A wash cycle costs €4.50, and the dryer costs an additional €4.50. In our opinion, that’s also very expensive.

The prices for recreational activities are also quite high. Trampoline jumping, for example, costs €1 for just 6 minutes.

The water also had an unpleasant odor. Of course, the operator isn’t to blame for this, as it’s likely a natural occurrence, but it was still unpleasant for us.

Overall, we feel that the value for money here isn’t right. Especially for families with several children, the additional costs for food, ice cream, laundry, and recreational activities can quickly add up to a significant amount.

The campground is very nice. Dogs are welcome. There’s also a dog shower and a lovely, shaded off-leash area where they can swim. We even had a very spacious, fenced-in campsite. The lake is very clear and clean. For the kids, there’s a great, large playground and a bouncy cushion on the beach. The only... thing is that the indoor play area could be a little better maintained. During our visit, there was food and dirt in the “over 3” area, and a broken chair between the play tables. All in all, though, I’d definitely recommend it.

Nice place, but…
A very nice campground, with plenty of space and things to do. Now here’s the “but.” The prices at the restaurant are way too high. Wi-Fi is only available for a fee, which is expensive for families. The shower stalls are modern, but they aren’t cleaned often enough; the drains are constantly clogged,... and the toilets are smeared with graffiti (perhaps by day-trippers, who, in my opinion, shouldn’t be allowed access to them). Because there’s no separate “urinal building,” the regular toilets are constantly splattered with urine, which I find very upsetting for my young daughter. There are also too few showers (and they’re dirty, as mentioned above). Just set up separate areas for men and women, and there would hardly be any long lines.

Completely overcrowded
There’s no order at this campground—neither in the campsites nor in the restroom facilities. There are far too few restrooms for the number of people on the grounds. The worst thing I’ve ever seen were the restroom facilities at the tent campsite. The trailers stank; the open-air showers with their dilapidated... railroad ties are an outrage, and the cleanliness leaves a lot to be desired. We’re used to something different, and for the life of me, I have no idea where the 4-star rating comes from.
We’ll never visit your campground again, nor will we recommend it to anyone.

Great campground—we'd love to come back
A truly great campground with so much to offer! The numerous restroom facilities were always clean! I especially liked the “baths,” which were freely accessible to everyone. Our fenced-in dog area was very spacious at 110 square meters, and the 110-centimeter-high fence was perfect for our two German shepherds. Overall, we were so thrilled that we booked our stay for next year right away!!

Very expensive restaurant, poorly stocked kiosk, no hot water in the dishwashing area at the 7,000-meter mark, not enough shower facilities, and a lot of dogs.
A good spot with room for improvement
The hot water supply in the dishwashing area was a total disaster. For a whole week, there was mostly only ice-cold water. No plugs = water waste to the power of 10. Told the technician about it. No response. The restaurant charges outrageously high prices for dishes on the limited menu. The mini-market... has a very limited selection. The fishing ponds were dead due to the heat, yet we were still charged the full price. Washing machines only accept coins. That’s so annoying. Sawn-off tree stumps on the campsite, which make parking difficult. Just pull those stumps out already. No free Wi-Fi.

Perhaps there should be more oversight to prevent guests who aren't too young from riding e-scooters too fast. This would help avoid collisions or startling parents and young children.

Size of the parking space
We had booked a comfort site measuring 100 square meters. However, our site, No. 1316, was only 60 square meters. When our new neighbor arrived on Wednesday with his large RV, it became much too cramped.
