- PMPetra M.avgust 2026Dorum CampgroundWe booked our spot about 4 weeks in advance, received our spot number an hour before arrival, but when we arrived, the spot was occupied, so we moved to the spot next to it. We sorted everything out with the front desk. Every day, people arrived who had booked the same spot as us.
The restroom facilities... and sinks aren’t child-friendly—they’re very high, and children can’t reach the paper towels. A child can barely lock the restroom doors from the inside on their own—and therefore can’t unlock them again either. To use the restrooms at night, just like during the day, you have to go up a flight of stairs. There are lights installed there, but all the lights by the stairs are turned off at night.
When I asked about the access hours, I was told, “You should bring your own gate; it’s been broken for a year now.”

Good bread roll service (not just pre-baked rolls, but a large selection of delicious bakery rolls).
Direct access to the water through a private gate (keys available free of charge with a deposit). There’s also direct access to the mudflats from there.
Clean... restroom facilities in sufficient numbers. Showers with unlimited hot water and adequate water pressure.
Idyllically located between the lighthouse and the sheep and cows on the dike.
For kids, there’s direct access to the large public playground with a climbing ship and other attractions. If you take the “secret” path through the embankment, the kids don’t have to cross any roads either… ;) !
(Caution: Unfortunately, there are sometimes bicycles and scooters traveling quite fast there.)

We were “lucky” enough to experience extreme gusts of wind, hailstorms, and rain driven by the storm. The full range of conditions that you... normally wouldn’t wish for as a “camper.” But our RV remained intact—except for a small gap where a little water seeped into the kids’ room. Nothing tragic happened; it was nature showing us who’s in charge—and above all, it’s no reason to mock the campground, its facilities, or the staff.
