We got a spot with an ocean view without a reservation. The location of the campground is fantastic. The site was very uneven, but thanks to our jack stands, it wasn’t a problem. We didn’t use the restroom facilities, but we took a quick look. They’re very basic, but clean and serve their purpose.
Water and waste disposal went smoothly.

On our way to site 179 (the really nice staff member gave me brief directions to the site), there was a “No Motorhome Entry” sign! OK…we... drove around in circles a few times and then went back to the front desk because we couldn’t get to our site that way. Guys, getting to the site isn’t that hard, really.
Some long-term campers had put up a sign saying that RVs aren’t allowed to drive through there. I didn’t like that! The beds are way too small for that. All the doors squeaked, the stove barely got hot, the smoke detectors beeped because the batteries were dead, the windows were stuck and some wouldn’t close at all. - PMPetra M.Avgust 2026Dorum CampgroundWe booked our spot about 4 weeks in advance, received our spot number an hour before arrival, but when we arrived, the spot was occupied, so we moved to the spot next to it. We sorted everything out with the front desk. Every day, people arrived who had booked the same spot as us.
The restroom facilities... and sinks aren’t child-friendly—they’re very high, and children can’t reach the paper towels. A child can barely lock the restroom doors from the inside on their own—and therefore can’t unlock them again either. To use the restrooms at night, just like during the day, you have to go up a flight of stairs. There are lights installed there, but all the lights by the stairs are turned off at night.
When I asked about the access hours, I was told, “You should bring your own gate; it’s been broken for a year now.”

Good bread roll service (not just pre-baked rolls, but a large selection of delicious bakery rolls).
Direct access to the water through a private gate (keys available free of charge with a deposit). There’s also direct access to the mudflats from there.
Clean... restroom facilities in sufficient numbers. Showers with unlimited hot water and adequate water pressure.
Idyllically located between the lighthouse and the sheep and cows on the dike.
For kids, there’s direct access to the large public playground with a climbing ship and other attractions. If you take the “secret” path through the embankment, the kids don’t have to cross any roads either… ;) !
(Caution: Unfortunately, there are sometimes bicycles and scooters traveling quite fast there.)
