Overall a really nice place. The sanitary blocks are getting on in years. However, everything was intact and very clean. The heaters in the showers were unfortunately not warm enough, so it was too cold...
Otherwise we would have been happy about a soap dispenser in the children's bathroom and a program for children during the autumn vacations. Unfortunately there was nothing at all...
Otherwise, we will definitely come back again in the spring.

Nice short vacation in a confined space
Nice short vacation. We had two nights in the camping pod - 2 adults and two children. Breakfast was included and was perfectly fine. There was coffee, tea, bread rolls, packaged spreads (including vegan alternatives), butter, chocolate cream, drink packets......es was delicious and sufficient.
You could... visit the swimming pool at no extra cost. There is a pool, sauna and infrared cabin. As we were here during the fall vacations, the pool was not full and we were able to enjoy our stay. However, I can imagine that it gets uncomfortably crowded during the summer vacations. The infrared cabin can only be used with a €1 coin, which unfortunately I didn't have with me. :-(
The campsite also has a beach by the lake - but it didn't look inviting to us. This may have been due to the algae in the water but also to the hazy autumn weather.
The children spent a lot of time in the indoor play area and had fun there. However, there is a vending machine with (cheap) sweets. You have to insert €1 and you get....nothing good. The thing lights up, flashes and plays a melody every few seconds. Very intrusive and annoying. So parents definitely have to have a nerve-wracking discussion with their children - that's the opposite of relaxing on vacation.
The restaurant was also okay. Friendly service, food was okay, prices too. However, the opening hours are a bit sparse. We arrived at the campsite on Monday around 2pm and EVERYTHING was closed.
The store and reception take a lunch break until 3pm - the restaurant is completely closed on Mondays and the rest of the day the kitchen is only open from 5pm. As we had no cooking facilities in the pod, we had to wait until 5pm the next day for something warm to eat. No problem for adults, but the children were on the verge of despair.
Next time we'd rather go with a tent (plus camping stove) :-)

Mobile home
We were very happy with the mobile home we had. Everything was clean. Small signs of wear here and there, which were acceptable. The WLAN connection was not particularly good.

Nice place close to the lake and Meachede
The site is large and tidy. Restaurant on site has a good small menu. Swimming pool on site. Ideal for campers with dogs and families

Camping
Very nice place, pitches sufficiently large. Great that there is a swimming pool with sauna (small tip: redesign and maintain the outdoor area). The restaurant is very nice and the food very tasty. Good service throughout the campsite. Sanitary facilities always clean.

The way from the safari house to the wash house is too far. Camping manager unfriendly and makes fun of guests after criticism. Wash houses dirty. No recommendation

Once and never again
The place is pretty run down. The sidewalks and green areas are very unkempt. Only the bare minimum is done. The showers in the men's area are filthy, all the tile joints are moldy. The staff at reception "smoke up first and prefer to chat" rather than welcome guests.
There are better Knaus places.

Vacation at the Hennesee
The campsite is generally positive, the facilities are good, especially for children. Due to the first three rainy days of our stay with our grandchildren, we were glad that there was an indoor pool that could be used free of charge. We have to make small deductions in the rating with regard to the sanitary... buildings, which are probably a bit outdated and certainly still have room for improvement in terms of cleanliness. Nevertheless, it was a lovely camping stay with the grandchildren, who were thrilled.

Very nice campsite
Very nice campsite, well equipped and clean, friendly staff, the small trekking pos is very well equipped with everything you need (power socket, storage space, small "terrace")

The showers are an imposition, the dog meadow cannot be used because the vegetation is taller than the shepherd dog and the bathing area cannot be used by pensioners and people with walking difficulties because it is simply badly prepared. The DLRG is there for this, but it cannot see the bathing area at all, and whether the "lifeguard" could help at all remains questionable. We initially identified the DLRG site as a pub with outdoor catering...

I think the campsite used to be really nice, but unfortunately it's not really well maintained
If you have to go to the wc at night, you almost have to hope that you stay on the street, because unfortunately you can't see anything.

Short visit with friends 2 days
The campsite is large and has a swimming pool and playground for children.
Unfortunately, the WLAN is very bad is often not available and mobile reception is also very weak to not available at all.
Is just Sauerland a lot of nature and a Hennesee the access is 5 minutes away.

50 years of the NRW youth fire department
Hello
I'll start with the things that we didn't like but could be overlooked:
WLAN at the campsite did not work (when we asked, we were told that it had not been working for a long time and if it did, it would only be very poor quality)
Allegedly renovated wash house (we tested all three wash houses,... but didn't find the renovated one)
Refurbished sauna ( We visited the sauna and yes it is new. But the sauna garden is not worth the name. Building yard or storage area for building materials would be more appropriate)

Now the things that caused us to cancel our annual vacation (despite having already paid).
Without our knowledge, without a hint when booking in January, without a hint on arrival, without a hint when checking in, the pre-command of the NRW youth fire department arrived on 11.07.2025. First, a deep-freeze truck was brought into position. From then on, the freezer unit ran loudly day and night. There was no peace and quiet (let alone a good night's sleep) until our early departure. When I asked at the campsite, I was told that I should contact the youth fire department.
On Monday 14.07.2025, all the youth fire departments from NRW arrived. They set up a tent city around us. Around 700 children celebrated their 50th anniversary day and night.
The sanitary facilities, which had been clean until then, could not cope with the masses of people.
I could go on and on, but you can imagine them for yourself

The state camp of the NRW youth fire department will take place in Meschede am Hennesee in 2025. It will last from July 14 to 19, 2025 and celebrate an anniversary of the NRW Youth Fire Brigade. It will be a week full of action, community and experiences, with workshops, evening events and time for your own activities.

Costs: 150€ per participant
Anniversary: 50 years JF NRW
Program: Workshops, evening events (campfire, talent shows, games evenings, discussion rounds), time for own events

I don't blame the NRW youth fire department but the operators of CP Hennessee
No reference to the event!
No apology on their part!
No efforts to make amends (remission of money, voucher, another pitch,...)
This was by far the worst CP after more than 40 different ones.
We will certainly not forget this annual vacation!
