The DLRG is there for this, but it cannot see the bathing area at all, and whether the "lifeguard" could help at all remains questionable. I'll start with the things that we didn't like but could be overlooked:
WLAN at the campsite did not work (when we asked, we were told that it had not been working for a long time and if it did, it would only be very poor quality)
Allegedly renovated wash house (we tested all three wash houses,... but didn't find the renovated one)
Refurbished sauna ( We visited the sauna and yes it is new. But the sauna garden is not worth the name. Building yard or storage area for building materials would be more appropriate)
Now the things that caused us to cancel our annual vacation (despite having already paid).
Without our knowledge, without a hint when booking in January, without a hint on arrival, without a hint when checking in, the pre-command of the NRW youth fire department arrived on 11.07.2025. First, a deep-freeze truck was brought into position. From then on, the freezer unit ran loudly day and night. There was no peace and quiet (let alone a good night's sleep) until our early departure. When I asked at the campsite, I was told that I should contact the youth fire department.
On Monday 14.07.2025, all the youth fire departments from NRW arrived. They set up a tent city around us. Around 700 children celebrated their 50th anniversary day and night.
The sanitary facilities, which had been clean until then, could not cope with the masses of people.
I could go on and on, but you can imagine them for yourself
The state camp of the NRW youth fire department will take place in Meschede am Hennesee in 2025. It will last from July 14 to 19, 2025 and celebrate an anniversary of the NRW Youth Fire Brigade. It will be a week full of action, community and experiences, with workshops, evening events and time for your own activities.

Costs: 150€ per participant

Program: Workshops, evening events (campfire, talent shows, games evenings, discussion rounds), time for own events
I don't blame the NRW youth fire department but the operators of CP Hennessee
No reference to the event!
No apology on their part!
No efforts to make amends (remission of money, voucher, another pitch,...)
This was by far the worst CP after more than 40 different ones.

And the internet connection is a disaster. That's not possible in this day and age. I can't understand why the operator doesn't change this. So many people have already complained about it. The pitches are very crooked, so we didn't have enough chocks with us, there's not much help from the site manager, I got a few stones myself. The boss always seemed very annoyed, as if he didn't want to do his job. It was also very restless in the square,... there was a huge fire brigade youth group there who had occupied a whole street. So our children couldn't use the playground because it was occupied by all the young people. The wash houses also looked like this. I think there are enough campsites for such groups, I don't know if they really belong on campsites. Changing seats was no problem and the chosen seat was great (G11).
Generally, the seats in the lower rows are not recommended for those seeking peace and quiet.

Andre's pitches were very muddy due to the heavy rainfall.
At night we had a raccoon in the awning that went through everything.
We were... informed by an employee that besides raccoons there are also foxes on the site. Why don't they put up signs for the campers?
We booked this campsite on the basis of a voucher. We would not visit this site againΑυτόματη μετάφραση.

This year too, 4 days over Whitsun.
We were completely appalled at how we were treated there.
The new operator, Mr. König, lives up to his name.
It started with pure unfriendliness on arrival. Every little question seemed too much.... Well, our
We then booked our seat, of course we still had to pay for it. Now it got a whole lot worse. When we pointed out an error in the bill, Mr. König made a massive attack on us. His choice of words was insulting and aggressive! We clearly had the feeling that he was completely overwhelmed with a place of this size.
The decision was not easy for us after 10 really nice years, but under this operator we will clearly not visit the site again and will also advise anyone who asks us not to do so.
Perhaps the Knaus management should give it some thought.
Finally, however, the 2 stars we still awarded.

There also currently seems to be a lack of clear and competent management. - Reception & management: While the staff at reception were friendly, the presumed operator, Mr. König, in particular was extremely negative. His reaction to a billing problem was both unprofessional and rude - despite our attempts to solve the problem objectively. It was almost as if he was trying to distract us from his own mistakes by publicly portraying us as "troublemakers". - Sanitary facilities: OK, but clearly in need of renovation. Cleaning doesn't keep up well during busy periods. - Facilities & infrastructure: - The indoor pool is rather small and in a basic condition - we don't feel that charging €7 entry for this is justified. - The sauna is also very modest. - Some of the fresh water points are a long way away and the 6 amp power connection is outdated.Campsite with great potential - but unfortunately many weaknessesEvaluation & conclusion:
The fact that the campsite rates itself with 4 stars is incomprehensible from our point of view - especially in view of the weaknesses in administration, facilities and infrastructure. Unfortunately, the price-performance ratio is not right.
With a heavy heart, we have decided... not to come back for the time being under the current circumstances.
What a pity - this place deserved much more. We hope that the numerous critical feedbacks will eventually lead to positive changes.
