"Place in the forest - A pitch in the "forest" It was quiet. The supply of fresh water was only okay at the sanitary building. There was only a washbasin in the WC. We would have liked an area with washbasins better! Overall, the site didn't look ready for the season.

"Rural, quiet place by the water - We stopped here for two nights to pass through. Many did so. Between a few permanent campers, many were only here for 1-2 nights and traveled on. We liked the location close to the town of Kalmar. The forest surrounded by water with lots of bathing spots was also great. Everything was within walking distance. Unfortunately, our wash house number three was very small and getting on in years. We used the newer wash house one field away, which was great. Electricity was directly at the and the size of the pitch was as indicated. There were two small playgrounds with bouncy cushions and a small store at the front of reception.

"Beautiful place, surrounded by water - We were passing through here, as it seemed to be more of a transit site, many stay 1,2 nights and travel on. The location is partly very shady, sometimes not at all sunny, you should check Google Maps before booking to find out where you want to stand. The pitches were the right size and we couldn't complain. The site has cooking facilities for tent campers. There is also an area for tents. The wash houses are in a condition ranging from "okay, to all good and inconspicuous". The forest paths are great for walking. Or even swimming. The site offers various places to do this. Kalmar is close by and is a beautiful city.

"beautifully situated campsite - Very nice campsite in the forest. Lake with bathing spots nearby. Pitches are slightly staggered. There is an entertainment program for children. The restaurant is closed. Supermarkets nearby.

"Nice camping but poor experience because of firstcamp's callcenter - We went in the FirstCamp Stensö in Kalmar from august 21 to august 22 2024. The camping itself is nice and The facilities are OK. The staff was friendly and helpfull, more about this a little later. So why a bad note ? This note is not for the camping itself but for the "FirstCamp" Company. Let me explain: We arrived at 18:30, and the reception was allready closed with a paper on the door saying it closes at 17:00. That's very early, especially when you think that Kalmar is a big city. There was another paper on the door saying that you have to call the number +46 77 110 12 00 to get a place after 17:00 As I learned later this number is Firstcamp's callcenter for ALL Firstcamp sites in Sweden. So I called, for a total of SEVEN times, after choosing the right options with the phone's keyboard, and each time the call ended with a message "We are encountering a problem and your call cannot be completed". Well... There was also a paper saying you can make a reservation and pay on FirstCamp's internet site, but only before 16:00... In this case, once you have made your reservation and paid on this internet site, FirstCamp will send you an SMS, giving you the code to enter in the camping. LUCKILY (for us), one person from the camping's staff arrived while I was trying to call FirstCamp for my reservation for the seventh time. I explained her that I wasn't able to reach Firstcamp's callcenter, and finally she gave us a badge permitting us to enter the camping. Otherwise we would have had to look elsewhere. The staff explained us that the decision to close the reception of ALL swedish FirstCamp sites at 17:00 has been taken by the company, and that the problem that we encountered on the phone was due to not enough people at FirstCamp's callcenter, especially since all FirstCamp sites close at the same time, causing an increase in calls in the evening. So shame on you Firstcamp to treat people so casually. In the future I will take care not going into one of your campings

First Camp Stensö-Kalmar is beautifully located on a peninsula in Kalmarsund. In the surroundings you will find many beautiful beaches and areas to explore. This is a popular place to relax for both locals and tourists. With the lovely town …center of Kalmar only a short walk away there is always something to do. More than the lovely days in the sun by the beach Camping Stensö also offers beautiful walking trails, possibility to rent bicycles and canoes, a mini golf course and a playground with a bouncy pillow. During peak season there is also many kids club activities for the children. Kalmar offers events for the whole family and has for several years been voted to “the number one summer city of the year”. From the camping site it is 3 kilometers to the city center of Kvarnholmen with a beach, boutiques, cafés, restaurants and the popular square called Larmtorget. If you want to go for day trips Kalmar is the perfect starting point for visiting Smålands glassworks and Öland with its many tourist attractions.
