The license plate recognition system at the gate works flawlessly, and you can drive onto the grounds without... any problems and find your campsite (which also works flawlessly). Then it’s time to set up camp and let the vacation begin. The kids play on the playground or take part in the great kids’ activities, while parents can enjoy a cool drink. The restrooms were consistently clean; we always had the feeling they’d just been cleaned. The little shop has everything you might have forgotten to bring. The lawns are well-maintained, the children’s program is varied and substantial, and the 10 p.m. quiet hours are, to our delight, well observed.
However, there is one thing that deeply concerns us and greatly... dampens our otherwise positive impression:
A walking speed limit of 5 km/h applies throughout the entire grounds. However, this is systematically ignored by a minority of guests. On the main road, which runs directly past the playground and the children’s play area, people are speeding at full throttle—sometimes in vehicles that are unregistered and uninsured. Children and teenagers drive there without a second thought and without regard for others.
The consequences are not just theoretical: During our brief stay, we witnessed firsthand how someone was struck and injured and how parked vehicles were damaged with scratches and dents—both incidents without any apparent consequences. This behavior is apparently tolerated.
As parents of two young children, we had to severely limit our time there and keep a constant eye on our children because we don’t know who might be the next person to speed past at full throttle. I don’t even want to imagine what could have happened.
