We've been camping for over 30 years. That was the nicest and best campsite we've had during that time.

We arrived on Saturday, June 27, in the afternoon and asked for a campsite. The lady’s greeting wasn’t really a greeting at all; I felt like I wasn’t welcome. We were told to pick a spot and then come back. Is this place supposed to be 5-star? It was a chaotic mess on a gravel surface and not the least bit lovingly landscaped. We came from France, and even the simplest campsite there was nicely landscaped and had hedges for privacy. The price was absolutely outrageous. Starting at €58.80 per night. No way—we fled the place as fast as we could. This is a total rip-off! Guys, don’t fall for this!!!
Overpriced camp with unfriendly staff

Compared to other places in the 5* category much too expensive and too few services
Price-performance ratio is not right
The price-performance ratio is not right here, the site is far too expensive in comparison. We have been on the road for 8 weeks and have stayed on several 5 * pitches (ADAC Superplätze and Leading Campings) before we came to the Schwarzwälder Hof.
The pitches have a clean gravel surface. Water, waste... water and electricity are on site. All pitches are quite level, so even for camper vans only a little alignment is necessary. With very few exceptions, the pitches are not separated by hedges. So there is no private atmosphere on the pitches, more of a parking lot character.
At this time of year, the Schwarzwälder Hof only offers a sanitary area in the main building, which is of a medium standard at most, but always clean. To get to the men's area, you have to go down a rather steep staircase.
Understandably, maintenance work is taking place at this time of year. During our 2-day stay, on the first day grass was cut around our pitch from the morning onwards with a brush cutter, on the second day trees and bushes were dug up next to our pitch with an excavator before we left.
The site doesn't have a store, so there are no facilities on site. As we were there on a Monday of all days, the restaurant wasn't open either.
There was no sports or entertainment program, as was the case on the other 5* campsites 7/365, i.e. every day.
We arrived on the evening of March 15, spent a day on the campsite and left the next day, March 17, in the morning. So realistically we had one day to use the included 1.5 hour sauna area (which unfortunately wasn't possible for us for health reasons). We paid more than €140 for our stay (caravan, mid-category pitch 80 m², 2 people, no dog, no extra services, 1.5 hours sauna). In our opinion, and also in comparison to other 5* campsites, this is far too expensive.

Negativno
- Sauna fills up quickly - A lot still runs on cash here - Food in the sauna is not good
Great for relaxing
The sauna is amazing, it's worth going there for that and we'll stay there more often and relax in the sauna.
One negative point, however, is that you have to be at the sauna in good time. Only 165 people are allowed in, which doesn't overcrowd the sauna, but significantly more people can stay at the... campsite, the vacation homes and the hotel. Waiting times can therefore occur.
The site is well terraced and the pitches are in good condition.
The surrounding area is ideal for hiking. Bread rolls are available on site, but only for cash, which I can't understand in this day and age.

The schnitzel used here is cheap meat glued together from leftovers
Rip-off
The only thing that is paradisiacal here are the prices. Two of us paid €60 for a piece of meat in the restaurant, which was sold to us as a schnitzel, with a drink each. The whole thing was topped with a cheap sauce from a packet.
However, the final straw when we checked out was the bill. We supposedly... used 136 KW of electricity in four days and paid 121 € for it. However, apart from our fridge and our electric oven for baking bread rolls three times for 12 minutes, we hadn't used any electricity. All the talking didn't help. We were simply told that we had used it, that's it and we had to pay for it.
It's a shame that you can't give minus stars. We would certainly do that here.

Unfortunately, the meat vending machine at the local butcher's wasn't there and the shop didn't have any meat products on sale either. But that's not really a bad thing, as we were still guests very early in the year.
Great stay
We stayed here with our new camper for the weekend. We felt very comfortable here. Starting with the really friendly staff, the clean, beautiful toilets (ground floor wash house 2 - just great) and the large, beautiful pitches.

There is a quiet and very nice walking path along the river.

Swimming pool and sauna not barrier-free, otherwise a nice place
beautiful place on the edge of the Black Forest. A camperclean that also works is available. The supply and disposal station is great. If you are looking for peace and relaxation, this is the place for you. There is still potential in the organization of the sauna area. You can't get from the swimming pool to the sauna area..., there are other technical solutions.

Success makes you snooty!
I have been visiting the sauna area at the Schwarzwälder Hof in Seelbach for many years, usually with friends. It has been extended time and again over the years and offers a wide range of saunas in a pleasant atmosphere. Unfortunately, maintenance has fallen by the wayside... in one place or another. For example, the showers in the changing rooms and the changing rooms themselves are not exactly appetizing if you take a look in the corners. Sometimes a toilet is closed without any indication of where the next one is. Now I found a voucher for €30 when I was clearing out and wanted to redeem it. Yes, it was actually issued more than 3 years ago and had therefore expired. Since one more visitor to the sauna area, apart from a few liters of water for the shower, does not cause any additional costs and in this case we wanted to go to the sauna area as a couple (1x with full payment), I hoped for goodwill. But the unfriendliness I had to put up with set new standards. I don't think a fake voucher would have caused any more of a stir. I was treated as if I was trying to defraud the Schwörer families. It should be noted that the money was collected when the voucher was issued and may even have earned interest over time. So we left the Schwarzwälder Hof without having achieved anything, with the result that it already had one less full day's admission (that of my companion) in the till. Future admissions will certainly go into other operators' coffers.

Great wellness camping BUT "Kings among the campers?"
We felt very comfortable, but our expectations were very high due to the many recommendations and also due to a TV report in which the operator describes himself as the "kings among campers".

The site is very nicely laid out, the pitches are ok, the sanitary facilities are beautiful and very clean.... The sauna and wellness area is included for a short time each day. Unfortunately too short for a nice evening there. Nevertheless, beautifully laid out and equipped with many different saunas.

We were there for a short stay with our 4-year-old granddaughter because it is very child-friendly. That's true, but what's missing is a check from time to time.
Older children were running around in the toddler area so the little ones couldn't play. In the indoor pool, it was impossible to stay in the... water with these big children, as they were jumping in from all sides, throwing the play balls, etc. I would have really liked to have had supervision.
Otherwise a very nice place for children.

Overcrowded. After 5 pm only naked in the indoor adventure pool. Indoor adventure pool is an exaggeration as it is only a small illuminated pool (Düßen). If 5 people are already swimming in it, it gets cramped! Musty smell in the changing rooms. W-LAN does not work. Partly not displayed at all - at first I thought it was because too many guests were connected. A lot of people left on Sunday but it still didn't work. Demand neighboring pitches "rarely works here"! But then please don't advertise! No good view of the Black Forest or no view at all. Theoretically, this could also be a CP site in Berlin. The crowning glory on the 5 star CPP; THE STAFF. Starting with the greeting up to the explanation of the place but the most unfriendly really already brazen was the blonde lady with the many tattoos at the reception / counter in the wellness area. Long queue at the counter - we get our turn and the speech "And you????" "3 x entry please" she slammed the ribbons on us and then said out of nowhere "whoever can read has a clear advantage! The CCp rules say €10 per person deposit" My husband and I were shocked. Our little one quietly asked what had happened to the woman. Well, in conclusion, no 5-star camping and I am sure that many have already experienced this behavior and many share our views. If you browse through the reviews, you will come across similar experiences.
Unfriendly (cheeky) staff - almost across the board except in the restaurant.

The wellness area is separate and the staff is very friendly, The sauna area is beautifully designed. There are absolutely enough saunas and a wonderful lounge All in all, it can be said that parts of the buildings are very nicely designed, but basically, making money is clearly visible and noticeable.
Negativno
Unfortunately disappointed: WLAN hardly works at all There are absolutely enough saunas and a wonderful recreation room. Unfortunately, the tendency to make money comes through extremely here. Not only do campers only have 1.5 hours free entry at very high prices, but the fact that there is no grace period of e.g. 10 minutes for the 1.5 hours is a bad joke. The absolutely overwhelmed ladies at the sauna reception, who also take care of drinks and food, take 5 minutes to check out
Nice place but no 5 stars
WLAN hardly works at all,
During our stay of two weeks, the rented bathroom was not mopped once
At our request (additional mopping costs an extra charge)
The sauna costs were also increased to € 2.50 for every half hour or part thereof, 1.5 hours are free.
During our stay at the campsite there were always... parties in the same places (very loud music) but the operator took care of it despite the complaints from the neighbors.
Complaints from the neighbors not about it
The staff at the information desk are very unfriendly,
In this place it's the crowd and unfortunately not the class.

Indoor pool, sauna and lots of play facilities for children. Great outdoor pool (500m walk) free entry with guest card.
Negativno
Wifi coverage poor to non-existent (maybe pitch dependent?). For a 5 star site this should be a matter of course in this day and age. Especially since the network coverage (cell phone reception) is also poor. Price for parking space quite lavish, the electricity is charged depending on consumption with currently 70 c/kwh, here is diligently earned. Better leave the air conditioning switched off!
Relaxed family vacation
We stayed on the site for 7 days with 2 children. Our pitch was right next to the playground. For WW with more than 7.20m length over drawbar, we recommend booking a category 3 pitch (from 100 sqm). The pitches are mainly laid to grass and gravel. Trees for shade are mostly available. South-west-facing... pitches above the connecting paths offer little shade. The sanitary facilities in the main building are clean and correspond to the state of the art 10 years ago. There are a total of 3 sanitary facilities. However, one of these facilities is only intended for single use (family use) (sanitary 3). Here, a shower, toilet and urinal are separate but connected by a shared anteroom. This can be closed off. There are also other rental bathrooms.
Flushing stations can be found in the main building.

There is an entertainment plan for children which is updated weekly. Bread rolls can be purchased in the kiosk in the morning. A play barn (covered area) with climbing frame, slide, climbing wall and table tennis tables can also be used in bad weather.

The outdoor playground has climbing facilities, slides, a ropeway, a football pitch and a large sand and water playground. There are also 2 barbecue areas with covered seating.

Camperclean cleaning station and recycling center (waste separation) in the entrance area.

We did not use the sauna area or the indoor swimming pool on site due to the summer weather ;-)
