Campsite with development potential
-The access road is very narrow. If 2 vehicles come towards each other, nothing works.
-The supply and disposal for motorhomes is right in the single-lane entrance/exit of the campsite, which is a misconstruction
-Reception is closed from 11:00 to 15:00.
No spontaneous check-in possible
-Payment is made... in advance. Electricity is read by each camper and is paid at € 0.80 / kWh on departure.
-Check-out is only possible from 08:30 or 09:00 a.m., the reception is then occupied (electricity still has to be paid for)
-Despite reserving various pitches, the campsite management didn't get it right. It was an absolute mess.
-The site made a partly unkempt impression. The grass and weeds grew very high in corners and edges, better maintenance would be desirable.
-Sanitary facilities were sufficient and clean. Partly defective though.
Especially the drain of the chemical toilets is adventurous. A long stainless steel tub with a drain in the middle. You can see all the details of what you empty. The water hose is attached and much too short. When I arrived, there was a toilet brush and a dirty rag in the tub. It could hardly be more disgusting.
-The guesthouse is quaint, rustic and relatively new. Very cozy. The menu is well laid out. Jägerschnitzel with chips, without salad for € 18.90. Absolutely NOT a bargain.
As a group, we waited more than 1.5 hours for our pre-ordered meal. The portions are rather small. There were some mistakes with the food we ordered. The beer garden needs more care to be really cozy and appealing.
The waiters seemed overwhelmed and annoyed.
Even when asked and told about the food there were no apologies or concessions.
Pretty disappointing!!!

-The proximity to the old town of Lüneburg carries this campsite.

Good location small space
We booked a week in advance. When we arrived, we were told to move into a very shady pitch in the forest. There was a list of free pitches next to the entrance. Everyone who didn't reserve got good pitches. That couldn't be right, so we signed up on the free list and moved. At the registration we got... a stupid remark. Which I can't understand. So pretty unfriendly. We also didn't get the bread roll service as ordered. So the lady at the reception prefers to cheat with men than to listen to the guest. Sorry were very disappointed. The location would be good.

Overnight accommodation for sightseeing in Lüneburg
The site lives from its proximity to Lüneburg. Self check-in is between 11am and 3pm, reception is not manned. The manager is friendly, staff on a daily basis.
The entrance and exit is single lane and is blocked by those registering or by the Womo disposal in the driveway. The site was mainly used by... overnight guests with motorhomes. Our

Paths sometimes muddy after rain.

Camping Rote Schleuse Lüneburg times in April / May
After getting to know the beautiful campsite in winter, we were drawn back to Lüneburg. Why wander far away when the good things are so close. We followed this saying and were not disappointed, on the contrary it was simply TOP. The staff were very friendly and helpful, despite the stress in the restaurant... on May 1st. We can rightly say that we came as strangers and left as friends. Sanitary facilities always clean. For data protection reasons, we are not allowed to mention any names of the staff. Otherwise all the staff would be listed here. It was great and you gave us a wonderful few days.

Nice campsite with good connections to Lüneburg
Were the first time on this beautiful little campsite and that to the Christmas market in Lüneburg. Campsite with its facilities simply TOP, although partly limited because of the winter season, no bread service, sometimes not all showers / toilets were open until it was full, then they reacted immediately... and there were more showers / toilets available. But you can be satisfied with that, we have also had different experiences at other campsites. Sanitary very clean and the restaurant on site very good. The friendliness of the staff is second to none. Praise and recognition for the team. Bus connection at the site to Lüneburg, when it ran. But that's not the fault of the campsite operator.

Room for improvement
The location of the place is great, only 4 km to Lüneburg and that with top connection (great bike path, bus in front of the door)
What is really a nuisance is the WLAN. Yes it is available (and yet not) and costs nothing, but that doesn't help much if it comes and goes 3 times within 2 minutes and the... network in the forest is also very bad. And really high electricity prices, €10.50 for 4 days, but we don't have a TV or any other expensive appliances. The only thing is a Senseo and cell phone charging.

Quietly situated place
Quiet and idyllic site, if you are looking for peace and quiet, this is the place for you. Sanitary building clean and tidy. The attached restaurant is also ok. Ideal starting point for a bike ride to Lüneburg.

A nice little place
We stayed at the campsite over the weekend to visit the Lünerburg Christmas market. The bus connection to the city center is great. There is a bus to the city every hour and the bus stop is right outside the campsite. The staff were nice and friendly and the sanitary facilities were super clean... Only the water in the showers could have been a bit hotter...

We have visited the campsite 4 times in the last few years. According to the senior manager, we should book our preferred pitch in writing this time. Booking confirmation for pitch 38 received on 17.01.2022. On arrival the pitch was occupied, the adjacent pitch 39 was free. There was no contact person... at reception, but there was a notice on which we were allocated pitch 35. However, the pitch was riddled with tree roots, bad for caravans with awnings. Our vacation mood was spoiled. When asked about this, the operator was unfriendly and arrogant, referring to the terms and conditions. So why book a pitch at all?
Note: Pitch 39 was free from 07.05. to 09.05. at noon. Seat 38 was free on 09.05. at noon. With a bit of good will, we could have been given seat 39 and the successor placed on seat 38, the seats are roughly identical. That's what I call customer-unfriendly.
Never again with the operator of the Rote Schleuse!

Actually a nice place, but...
We stayed at this beautifully located campsite for a weekend and rented two accommodations and a pitch. The reception was very friendly and the site is very conveniently located.
In the sanitary facilities, however, the operators overdo it with saving water. The fact that the washbasin in the men's toilet,... for example, provides a full two seconds of water at the touch of a button is somewhat questionable, especially during a pandemic.
That would have been the only point of criticism until shortly before departure.
It's one thing to be called on your cell phone just two minutes after half past 10.30 a.m. when you check out. The fact that another minute later a member of staff turns up and tells you in a rude and very unfriendly tone that the bill is still missing (mind you: you can stay on the pitch until 12 noon!) was rather rude. Employees like that ruin the good impression we had of the campsite in just a few seconds. What a pity!

Small campsite on the outskirts of Lüneburg, the registration is hardly occupied during the day, you have to look for pitches yourself according to a posted list, but there was no list. Pitches are allocated, if you insistently want a different pitch this is made possible, reception generally makes an... unfriendly impression (sign with "Rumzicken verboten"!).
Sanitary facilities are closed from 10:30-15:00 for cleaning. OK but why from 21:00-7:00? If the pitch is full, 1 toilet (paper is then a matter of luck) is available for everyone. Service should be different for the daily rate.
The horse farm next door is occasionally smelly.
Be careful with the billing, generally 2 people are accepted, so be careful with single travelers!

Nice, small place in nice surroundings
The site is located in the middle of a forest on the edge of Lüneburg, the town can be reached via a beautiful cycle path or simply by bus. There are shady pitches almost in the middle of the forest but also sunny areas. A bread roll service, a small restaurant with beer garden and a beautifully landscaped... and very natural swimming pond are also available. The sanitary facilities are of an absolutely high standard and great importance is attached to cleanliness. WLAN is also free of charge. Due to the proximity to the town, it is easy to get over the fact that there are no shopping facilities on the site. In combination with the beautiful city of Lüneburg, we think the site is an ideal destination for a (long) weekend.
