"You shouldn't go to this campground. - The owner writes her glowing reviews all by herself (truthfully, hahaha...). This woman shows absolutely no empathy for unusual situations. All she cares about is collecting money right away and threatening to send a collection agency. We had booked a week in October (when most people don’t go camping anymore)—the weather was bad, so it wasn’t crowded… When we were leaving and hooking up the trailer, our car broke down. After calling her, the call ended after just two minutes; canceling, rescheduling, or changing our plans wasn’t an option. We had to pay 100% of the fee, and she immediately threatened to send us to a collection agency. Not a single gesture of goodwill or willingness to find a solution. Unfortunately, the repair of our car took too long, so the single day that remained of our planned stay wasn’t worth it for us. What a witch. From other reviews, I’ve read that other people have had similar experiences. Even extreme circumstances preventing someone from arriving aren’t a reason for her to find a solution. So I’ll never book here again. This isn’t the camping experience they promote—just rules, rules, rules. People, think carefully before you book here. She herself hypes up the reviews—they’re far from reality. I know I should have read more carefully and taken out cancellation insurance… humanity is worth more than that. If you have a complaint, the true nature of the owner comes to light.

"One of the most beautiful campgrounds I've ever been to! - We’re absolutely thrilled!! How can you run such a charming and clean campground? Because you live and breathe it! Katja and Mike’s personal touch is reflected in every detail of the entire campground. Even the trash area is beautifully and neatly laid out—not to mention all the lovely little details. We stayed in the “dog area” with our two 12-year-old girls and had a spot right on the Rur River. The kids played in the Rur all weekend—no cell phones, no tablets in hand. The shower facilities—very clean, modern, and cozy—are located in a brand-new, modern wooden building. You have the option to use a sauna and hot tub, and every campsite has its own charming and cozy feel. Whether up on the hill or right by the Rur River, everything is designed with great attention to detail, thoughtfulness, and practicality. I’ve never seen such a well-thought-out campground. Nothing was missing. The starry sky was truly amazing! It was an experience we’ll never forget. Bottom line: we’ll be back, and I can’t wait to unwind again at Camp Hammer. (As I mentioned, we were there with two 12-year-old girls, Mom, Dad, and our trailer.)

"No room for those seeking peace and quiet during peak season - In three words: Noisy, dusty, overcrowded! In the upper section, the restroom facilities are completely inadequate for the full capacity of the tourist sites. A few funny-looking wooden barrels with only 3 usable showers are simply far too few for the number of campsites. There are already wait times as early as 7 a.m. Near the entrance to this area, it’s impossible to drink a cup of coffee without being constantly bothered by clouds of dust and exhaust fumes from passing cars. All of this for a steep price—one for which you’d expect significantly more. We cut our booked vacation short halfway through because the conditions were unacceptable—of course, without a refund. The value for money is the worst we’ve ever experienced. Bottom line: Never again, at least not during peak season!

"Discrimination is still a problem here. - As foreigners, we felt from the very beginning that we were being treated differently because of our background. While other guests were treated with respect, we felt singled out, unwelcome, and treated unfairly. This experience left us feeling that we were being discriminated against because of our nationality. It is sad and disappointing that, in a modern and cosmopolitan country like Germany, we still had to feel as though we were facing racism. No one should have to feel this way because of their background or nationality. For this reason, we unfortunately cannot recommend this campground.

"Disappointed - We visited Camp Hammer because of its beautiful location and were looking forward to a few relaxing days. Unfortunately, our entire experience was marred by the staff’s behavior. From the very first moment, we had the impression that we were being treated differently because of our appearance and our background. Instead of being welcomed like normal guests, we felt we were under general suspicion and treated much more strictly than others. It’s particularly disappointing because we behaved respectfully, friendly, and considerately throughout our entire stay. We interacted with many other guests, chatted with them, and no one felt bothered by us. Yet we were treated as if we were unwelcome. A vacation is supposed to be relaxing. Instead, we were on edge the whole time and felt like we had to watch our every move. No one should feel that way at a campground. It’s really a shame, because the campground itself is very beautiful and the location is special. But what good are the most beautiful surroundings if you don’t feel welcome because of the way you’re treated? Friendliness, respect, and equal treatment are, for us, the most important foundation of a successful vacation. Unfortunately, our experience was very disappointing. We hope that in the future, all guests—regardless of their background or appearance—will be treated with the same respect and fairness.
