What has happened and been improved there in recent years is amazing.
Very family-oriented and at an absolutely fair price.
What is a bit chaotic is the ordering of bread rolls.
But I think the main problem is not with the campsite but with the bakery.

The staff were very friendly, the sanitary facilities are a bit outdated but were always clean. Beautiful hiking trails right next to the CP. There is a small sledging hill for children just opposite the campsite.

You can't eat/trike/eat ice cream etc. during this time. I think that's a shame.
The toilets are too far away from the rear pitches, I wouldn't want to stand there again.
A wider range of shops would be desirable as the nearest supermarket is so far away.

A QUIET VACATION PARK "AT THE END OF THE WORLD" - SOMETHING FOR REAL FREAKS.
Before we arrived at Campingpark Lackenhäuser in June 2024,... we had spent a week's vacation near Füssen in Schwangau. While this region with its picture-book landscape, lakes, mountains and royal castles is something for romantics, the area around the Lackenhäuser camping park in the Bavarian Forest is perhaps more for fitness enthusiasts who are looking for rough nature and want to burn off energy hiking over hill and dale.
We were very pleased that our wish to have a quiet cottage "far back" was fulfilled.
The lady at reception was super friendly and in a good mood - that's nice.
The outside of our vacation home no. 2 was very nice and in good condition. We were able to park the car just a few meters away.
Inside there was a room with a kitchen, dining area and a small couch. Not a luxury, but everything you need was there. The bathroom with shower and toilet was very small, but okay. There was also a large bedroom with a double bed and a smaller one with 2 single beds.
The TV was tiny and the picture was quite blurred. You're not in a luxury hotel, so you can live with it. What we have to criticize is the lack of cleanliness. The couch had some stains and soiling. There were large, unsightly stains burnt into the bottom of the oven and on the baking tray. The coffee machine was very dirty inside with coffee powder residue, so we had to clean it first.
The floor in the lounge area consists of wooden planks with more or less large cracks that are sealed with silicone. However, the silicone doesn't hold properly and so the silicone sausages protrude upwards in some places - that's not nice.
The plastic patio furniture is of the simplest standard. You can live with that, but the prices at Campingpark Lackenhäuser are very reasonable.
However, the table urgently needs replacing. It wobbles like a cow's tail and has unappetizing stains. The plastic table top has been painted over with white paint. I've never seen anything like it. Nevertheless, the table looks terrible and should be replaced.
Internet reception via the camping park's WLAN was usually not possible during the day, but it usually worked in the evening.
There is plenty of entertainment for children. For example, there is an interactive, very interesting forest educational and adventure trail, which has been created with a lot of effort and is in good condition. There is also a small swimming lake fed by a forest stream, a great playground, an archery range and a small animal enclosure. We also saw something similar to a kindergarten.
In the restaurant there is a very friendly host of the "we can manage anything" type, large, tasty portions and very moderate prices.
We did a lot of googling to find suitable hikes for us, but we didn't find any really easy hiking trails. There are more hiking trails for hardliners who want to push themselves to the limit.
There are also a few marked trails that don't lead up to the high mountain ridges, but these often run along normal roads. One negative thing we noticed several times was that the field paths shown on Google Maps did not actually exist. More than once, we took a path and then had to turn back because it suddenly ended in nowhere. The farmers have simply integrated the paths into their fields and meadows, turning them into hiking trails.
Shopping: The nearest supermarket, an Edeka, is 8 km away and Lidl etc. are 15 km or more away. You should therefore stock up well on food. Bread rolls can be ordered daily at the camping park.
Our rating for the Lackenhäuser camping park and the region is a well-intentioned "satisfactory".
