- 5.0ABAlex B.Ağustos 20265.0ABAlex B.Ağustos 2026Olumlu yanlarıViews, atmosphere, central restroom facilities, a castle, friendly people, peace and quiet, nature, and great for hiking. Simply pure relaxationOlumsuz yanlarıThe campground is mostly on a slight slope, which is why leveling equipment is absolutely necessary. However, compared to the advantages, this isn't really worth mentioning—especially if you have the right gear ;)Warm, peaceful, and simply beautifulWe arrived at the Rohtenfels Campground, and that’s exactly how we felt right away. We received a warm welcome and were given a wonderful spot. During the day, we were able to enjoy Styria, and in the evening, we relaxed at the campground’s café in the garden. I highly recommend the salmon tarte flambée.... (The “Kaffe im Garten” is also worth a visit even if you’re not camping there but just in the area.) At night, you can enjoy the peace and quiet and gaze at the stars. All in all, I highly recommend this campground—especially for hikers and nature lovers, but really for anyone who loves camping.Otomatik olarak çevrildi.Henüz hiçbir kampçı bu derecelendirmeyi faydalı bulamadı. Nestled in a beautiful, natural landscape, this site offers everything you could wish for in a real time-out: peace, warmth, beautiful nature and an atmosphere that is very rare to find.
The area around Rothenfels... Castle is a dream for hikers and nature lovers. You can set off on a wonderful hike directly from the campsite - the wonderful legend trail, with its stories, natural scenery and lovingly designed stations, is really something very special. You can feel the tranquillity and originality of the region.
Oberwölz is also definitely worth a visit. Charming, well-kept and authentic - with historical flair, lovely little alleyways and a wonderfully relaxed atmosphere. The campsite itself is exceptionally warmly run. Phillip Steiner fulfills this special task with an incredible amount of love and commitment. You immediately notice that this is not just a campsite, but a place with soul. His warmth and hospitality make your stay even more special.
Rothenfels Castle is of course the highlight par excellence. It can be visited in summer and you can feel the history in every corner. There are also regular events that give the place a very special vibrancy. The fact that you can even get married here fits in perfectly with this fairytale atmosphere.
I felt incredibly at home here and have rarely been able to switch off so well anywhere else. Camping Rothenfels is one of those places that will stay with you for a long time and that you can't stop thinking about. For me, an absolute heartfelt recommendation - for campers, hikers, nature lovers and all people who are looking for genuine hospitality. ❤️Otomatik olarak çevrildi.Henüz hiçbir kampçı bu derecelendirmeyi faydalı bulamadı. Anyone looking for peace, nature, warmth and genuine hospitality will love this place. I will definitely be back. ❤️ Dogs are welcome and even free of charge.Olumsuz yanlarıThere is none, except that I don't have enough time to spend more time there 🥲An absolute favorite place with a very special atmosphereFor me, Camping Rothenfels is one of those rare places that you don't just visit, but that you take home with you in your heart. Everything is just right here - from the fantastic, natural location right next to the castle, to the warm atmosphere and the palpable passion with which this site is run....
A big compliment goes to Phillip Steiner, the operator and private owner of Burg Rothenfels. You can see in every detail how much passion, responsibility and love he puts into this special place. I have rarely experienced someone who fulfills his task with so much warmth, authenticity and commitment. You don't feel like a guest, but really welcome.
The castle itself is an absolute highlight and can be visited on guided tours in summer, and you can even get married at this historic location. The small café in the garden has also become a real favorite: wonderful atmosphere, incredibly good tarte flambée, delicious cakes and a breakfast that is served with lots of love on Sundays and public holidays. The bread roll service in the morning is also simply wonderful - there's no better way to start a day on vacation.
The sanitary block: Perhaps not a sleek, ultra-modern luxury look, but exceptionally well thought out, functional and spotlessly clean. Plenty of storage space, hooks and everything you really need - you can tell that someone has put some thought into it. And even here, investments and renovations continue, which once again demonstrates the high standards of quality.
The entire site radiates peace, freedom and naturalness. No sterile campsite atmosphere, but a real "pure nature" feeling with a beautiful view, plenty of space and a soothing deceleration. This is exactly where I was able to completely switch off and relax.Otomatik olarak çevrildi.Henüz hiçbir kampçı bu derecelendirmeyi faydalı bulamadı. Wonderfully located pitch directly below the castle with a beautiful view of the valley. The sanitary block was even heated, always clean and completely adequate.
We particularly liked the fact that we were not forced into... a fixed pitch grid. Everything was handled in an uncomplicated way.
The staff were always very friendly and helpful.
The castle tour is highly recommended, Phillip Steiner does a really nice job.

The castle can be visited on a guided tour on Saturdays, which is very worthwhile to learn more about the history and the surrounding area. The very friendly owners of the castle also run the campsite, which extends over terraces with a... meadow. Clean and well-kept sanitary building with pleasant showers. Electricity and water well distributed. Very quiet. Small playground. The coffee house next to the office is a real highlight of the campsite. - 5.0KPKatharina P.Haziran 20255.0KPKatharina P.Haziran 2025Olumlu yanlarıThe Steiner family, who run the campsite and are also the owners of the castle, treat their guests like friends. The choice of pitch and the arrival and departure times are very accommodating. The very best thing, however, is the accompanying garden café, where you can enjoy stylish drinks and homemade & tasty cakes.Olumsuz yanlarıThe gardeners were motivated to trim the turf quite early (7:30 am).Pure glamping: relaxed camping meets stylish luxuryMy husband and I were simply thrilled.
The castle tour was a highlight for us. We consumed it for €10 per person (plus a glass of wine or grape juice). The tour lasts about 1.5 hours and was enriched with many beautiful and very personal stories from the mother of the lord of the castle, who will be... celebrating her 50th anniversary next year.
The campsite itself offers spacious sunbathing areas with plenty of trees to provide shade. The sanitary facilities are extremely clean. Fresh bread rolls can be ordered every day.
But the glamorous icing on the cake is the garden café, with a sun terrace offering a wonderful view over the town of Oberwölz. We were able to enjoy the sunset with a cocktail while listening to pleasant music and having nice and stimulating conversations.
It's a real insider tip, because although we were there over Whitsun, there were still a few places available. However, we really enjoyed the peace and quiet.
There are also plenty of leisure activities on offer. Be it the outdoor pool, the high ropes course or the medieval town tour.

The highlight is definitely the location: in the middle of nature, surrounded by forests, the site is located right next to a romantic castle ruin that invites you to explore and dream. The surrounding area is perfect for walks, bike tours, hikes or simply to switch off.
A very special treasure is the small café in the garden - incredibly charming, good drinks, with homemade cakes that taste simply heavenly. Whether in the morning for breakfast or in the afternoon in the sun - it's a wonderful place to linger.
