Review of Heide Eck Campground
We were there from August 14–17, 2026. What we found was the quietest place imaginable. Hardly a soul in sight; the two other people staying there with us were just passing through and were hardly noticeable. The “guests”—ants, spiders, and grasshoppers—visited us every day 🤣🤣🤣.The washhouse was clean,... and the showers had plenty of space—though I would have preferred a shower that wasn’t so open. For travelers with kids, it would be nice to have a small playground on the large campground. For shopping, head to Hankensbüttel or Sur—that’s all there is to say. We loved the peace and quiet—it was a chance to really unwind. 🤣🤣🤣.

For an overnight stay with a caravan
We (2 people and caravan) were on the site for an overnight stay in summer 2025.

After several unsuccessful calls and an email, we finally got a call back and the conversation was friendly.

The reception is an uninviting hut. The hut was unoccupied and locked, but there was a notice for new arrivals... that we could choose a free spot on the meadow ourselves and so we did.

There was nothing to complain about on the meadow, everything was in order. The whole campsite had more the charm of an allotment garden colony than a campsite, but the meadow was fine for us for one night.

The sanitary facilities were basic but clean. Not everyone likes open showers, like in the youth hostels of old.

The prices are not transparent. I couldn't find anything on the website. When the groundskeeper came, he charged us (1 car, 1 caravan, 2 adults, electricity flat rate) 30,-EUR for the one night, the receipt should have been sent to me by mail, but never came. I would have been interested to know how the EUR 30 was made up.
Basically, I think EUR 30 is ok, but I had already paid considerably less for this low standard.

All in all, it was good for us for an overnight stay, but I didn't really want to go on vacation here.

This is the right place for anyone looking for peace and relaxation.
Surrounded by nature with a view of adjacent paddocks, small ponds and close to Braunschweig with its cultural attractions, you can unwind here.

Everyone here was very friendly and the grass under the tent was soft.

No toilet paper.
Small, quiet campsite with two small ponds to relax in.
I was traveling alone with a tent and dog and felt very comfortable and safe on this campsite. The sanitary facilities were clean, but you should know that you have to bring your own toilet paper. There are benches by the small ponds, which I also liked very much. The ground under the tent is flat and hard enough for the pegs to hold well and soft enough to be comfortable. There is a Flexbus stop and a restaurant right in front of the campsite.
