The new operator couple Wanke took over Camping Emstal fresh in April 2025 and you can tell from their positive energy how they want to carefully optimize and design the site according... to their ideas. It makes a very fresh impression. However, what could be improved on the site? The pitches are all very generously sized and - apart from a few undulations - are also fairly level and very easy to drive on. The sanitary building is as well maintained as ever and the layout is almost luxurious. The service and facilities are unchanged - even under new management. The campsite is in a very idyllic location. You can't get away without your own means of transportation (bicycles are ideal), but this also perfectly describes the target group of the campsite: here you are looking for peace and quiet and closeness to nature and you get this in the best possible way. This relaxed atmosphere is also noticeable in the guests.
If there was anything to optimize, it would be the access road to the campsite. It has become quite bumpy and as you wouldn't be able to find the site from the access road without a sign, it's hard to believe that this is the access road to the site. No big deal, but this entrance could perhaps be tackled. But I'm sure that this will be on the agenda with the new operator couple sooner or later anyway. I wish them all the best with it. The surrounding area could perhaps do with one or two more restaurants, but "the place can't help it".Perfect camping experienceI have already seen many places - here everything is just right for the camper looking for peace and quiet, whether with a motorhome, caravan or tent.

Paddling on the Ems or Dortmund-Ems CanalMinusuriNo disadvantages foundSuper relaxationThe Emstal campsite is highly recommended for campers who want peace and quiet and beautiful surroundings. The new owners, the Wanke family, have been responsible for the site since April 2025. The pitches are at least between 150 and 200 square meters in size and are surrounded by hedges and trees.... The sanitary facilities are very spacious and spotlessly clean. The site is very suitable for water sports enthusiasts. There is a small headland with a small sandy beach right next to the site. You can easily launch your canoe or paddle boat here. As the Ems only has a weak current, you can paddle upstream as well as downstream. After approx. 300 m you come to the Dortmund-Ems Canal, after another 5 km you can paddle into the coastal canal. The Ems, which flows directly past the campsite, can be paddled upstream to the weir approx. 7.5 km away. There is a nice jetty and a bench here where you can take a break. The Emsland is also very easy to explore for cyclists. Another advantage is that most campers can still behave themselves here and know that a cleaner doesn't run after them after every visit to the sanitary facilities to clean up the mess and they also know what a toilet brush is for. Here you can escape from everyday life, situated between the Ems and the Dortmund-Ems Canal, which is only a stone's throw away. Wonderful cycle paths invite you to go on extensive tours: Emsland, East Frisia, Hümmling Nature Park, Rheiderland and many more. Take a look at the impressive... former Transrapid test track
**Pitches:** Generously sized pitches are equipped with electricity, water and waste water connections. WLAN is also available!
**Pure nature:** Here you can enjoy the silence and listen to the chirping of many different birds. The site is ideal for peace-loving individualists, cyclists (with/without e-assistance [pedelec]) and here, as elsewhere in Germany, riding an e-bike on cycle paths in urban areas is prohibited unless they are signposted as "e-bike free".
**Sanitary facilities:** Always clean and well-maintained sanitary facilities. Are cleaned twice a day. I have never seen better maintained ones. Not many people have realized that the toilet doors have door handles that you should use after your business. Your back door doesn't let out any perfume scent.
There's also a ventilation system that works when all the doors are kept closed.
**Equipment:**
A kiosk with some food, drinks and a bread roll service is on site, from 8.00am. Washing machine, dryer, scullery with hot and cold running water. Here too, "Cleanliness is priority 1
If you are looking for fun, radio, barbecues, parties etc., this is not the place for you!!! Things are "civilized" on the campsite. If campers get upset and complain here or on other platforms because the campsite operator is dictating the rules on and in his property, I say "switch on your brain".
A campsite is not a legal vacuum. The pitches are generously sized and have electricity, water and waste water connections. WLAN is available. The... site is ideal for individualists who love peace and quiet. It is also very quiet during the day and you can only hear the chirping of many different birds. The operators are very polite, friendly and value peace and quiet. The sanitary facilities are very clean and well-maintained and the best we have ever found on a campsite. The disposal station for motorhomes is easily accessible. There is a kiosk with some food, drinks and a bread roll service. A restaurant with outdoor seating and good food is located directly at the Düther Schleuse and only about 1.5 km from the campsite.Tradus automat.

We were there with a couple we were friends with and had a place next to each other - which was not appreciated. At 8:50 pm the campsite manager came and insulted us loudly... about our volume - we had no music, ate and talked and laughed - just to remind you - it was Friday evening at 8:50 pm!!!! The mood in the evening was of course over, we only whispered :-(
We left the very next day.
We have been campers for a long time and are definitely considerate of our fellow human beings, but nothing like this has ever happened to us.

If you are looking for peace and quiet and still want to hear nature, this is the place for you. Birdsong from dawn to dusk. No annoying barking or noise from any electronic boxes. A really nice little campsite. Beautifully situated in the countryside on the Ems... and an oxbow lake. The pitches are all large enough and have electricity, fresh water and waste water. Some are under trees, but there are also sunny pitches or separated by hedges and bushes.

If we could award 6 stars for its cleanliness, we would immediately. We've been camping for 30 years now, but we've never seen anything like it. Some premium campsites can take a leaf out of our book. The bread roll service worked very well. There is something for everyone. Excursions by bike directly from the site... along the canal or the Ems or finally through the beautiful Emsland.
Conclusion:
A place to slow down from everyday life or work stress or simply to unwind.
The owner couple are friendly and courteous, but also run the site with a certain determination. Some may not be able to cope with this, but for those campers there will certainly be enough alternative destinations.

No children's playground, no football pitch, no play areas, says a lot. The focus here is on the "guest seeking peace and quiet". You'll look in vain for a hustle and bustle here. If you do, you can leave. Keeping quiet is a !must! Is specially pointed out! Thank goodness the operator is aware of his task - including observing the rules of the site - after all, it is his property. I would like to see more of such course operators.MinusuriThere is nothing wrong with the campsite. Only, as is so often the case, with some campers.5-star place for those seeking peace and quietThe course is a little surprising at first glance. The 2nd is convincing. Especially in the area of the sanitary facilities and the peace and quiet on the pitch.
In the sanitary area you notice that someone has built an area that has the guest/camper (customer who brings money) and satisfaction in mind... (so that the customer comes back) Vlt it was also so that the owner thought, my guests should feel as comfortable as I have it with myself 😉.
Sanitary * * * * * * and cleanliness in it, countless other campsites can take a leaf out of my book - that's how sanitary facilities work.
There is a rubber squeegee with a wooden handle in every shower. Pine and pine heartwood in particular have been shown to have an antibacterial effect and good hygienic properties. Here, guests are not afraid of toilet brushes biting, no, they use them 👍
Anyone who thinks they can behave as they please here (inconsiderately and loudly) will be proven wrong.
Campers who do not want to behave as guests on a campsite and believe that they have bought the right with the site fee to behave excessively loudly or to drive fast on the site or to pollute the sanitary areas unrestrainedly etc. Sorry you inconsiderate people - you will be thrown off the site .... and that's a good thing.

Guests seeking peace and quiet have bought peace, relaxation and cleanliness with their fees. That is the "capital of the operator".
