Terrible dirt road uphill 3km full of deep potholes, for 1 car. Totally unsuitable for a caravan, if you brake you may not get going. Remote location, showers and toilets should be refurbished.
Problematic entrance and road, incomplete information.
The campsite looks idyllic in the photos, it's more suitable for tents or smaller outdoor-type RVs or motorhomes. NOT for caravans. There is a very problematic 3km road to the campsite, the campsite is rather in hilly terrain, cut off from civilization. Partially refurbished showers and toilets, some... non-functioning, dilapidated, but generally clean. 3 hot water only and 3 cold water only showers - open only on schedule at reception. So when it's 38 degrees in August, you pay the highest price tax, the pool is closed and you rely on the shower for refreshment, you're out of luck! They're locked. The campsite's website says it's all about rest, relaxation and connecting with nature, but the reality is different - the picnic area and the pool are accessible to the public who party there, loud music plays all day and into the night, and you don't find out until you check in that you have to reserve a sun lounger or you won't get one. The amount of council tax is not advertised on the campsite website. Front desk staff was very nice, pool was also very nice, accessibility was terrible (even though Siena is close), I expected much more for the price.

the journey was in vain!!!
After two great days at the Ortobello family campsite, we drove along the SS223 past Siena to the Luxor campsite. Coming from the south, you drive the last few kilometers to CP Luxor from Fattoria Lornano on a Strada Bianca! This approach to CP Luxor was so narrow that it can happen that you have to... back up. We also had to back up with our WOMO when a Tiguan driver didn't want to drive back. This route cannot be recommended, the Strada Bianca from the Strada della Badesse junction is better, although you have to cross under the Florzen/Siena expressway here. Unfortunately, I didn't find any passing masses on the way through. There are no reasonable alternative routes on either side of the tunnel, which is no problem if you are lucky and there is no oncoming traffic.
The site is located on a hill in the middle of a holm oak forest and only has a few pitches for motorhomes. The site is best suited for tents or campervans. Although there is a restaurant, it was not open during our overnight stay. There are no other catering facilities on the site either! The partially renovated sanitary building is the "highlight" of this site, but the showers still urgently need to be renovated. The swimming pool was also being renovated. Monteriggioni, the former outpost of Siena, is not far away and you have a wonderful view of the old fortress. Unfortunately, there is no other way to get there apart from the road, or we didn't find it.
We will not visit the campsite again.

A FABULOUS PLACE
A fabulous place...
Once I arrived at the facility I was greeted impeccably. Spacious and shady pitches. You find yourself immersed in nature. All the staff at the facility are young, helpful and professional. Pool clean and beautiful. At dinner we were able to enjoy some excellent traditional dishes, but also a quick and light lunch. The location is very strategic. I RECOMMEND TO EVERYONE!!! Greetings to the Staff guys and see you soon
