"Quiet location, beautiful place - Very friendly operator couple. Very clean place. Sanitary facilities a little rustic but perfectly clean at all times! We had a very pleasant stay. To the sea it is 10min by car. The lake by car 2min. You can also go sailing, windsurfing or SUP paddling there.

"Friendly, quiet and clean, good price/performance ratio - A real oasis compared to the surrounding giant pitches! With around 70 pitches, the site is very manageable and is one of the places where people still greet each other. The owner couple are very friendly and helpful, and the boss cycles around the site in the evening to check that everything is in order and to have a few words with his guests. The lack of "entertainment" (no pool, no soccer) means that there are only a few young people there, as experience has shown that they often tend to stay out late. We were delighted to find a place where you can sleep peacefully at night in the high season on the Atlantic! There are ping-pong tables, some play equipment for small children and a net for volleyball and badminton, as well as a small library, mainly in French and Dutch, and the Atlantic is not far away either. During our stay in the middle of August, the site was fully booked and yet very quiet. The pitches with electricity were mostly occupied by families and pensioners, some of whom had been going there for over 20 years. The trees here weren't very big yet, but they did provide some shade (more trees had already been planted). The part without electricity is very idyllically situated in a sparse wood. (Here you should make sure you are as far away from the road as possible if you have the choice) We were able to take a quick look at the chalets, which also appeared clean, friendly and functional, but we have no comparison here. The sanitary facilities are not luxurious, but they are functional and, above all, very clean. There are waste garbage cans and cleaning equipment everywhere, so the campers themselves also contribute to the cleanliness. Everything is well thought out and functional, the water is sufficiently warm, even if it runs a little sparsely. Thanks to the gate at the entrance and the presence of the owners, you feel so safe here that we left our electrical devices in the tent during the day without hesitation; at night, several cell phones were often left unattended to charge in the "library". Apart from a few non-alcoholic drinks, there is nothing to buy here, so you have to stock up in the supermarkets in Lacanau. The gate can only be opened with a chip (for a deposit) and is closed to cars between 11pm and 8:30am, so that no cars driving across the square at night disturb the peace. (There is no exception to this rule, which is worth bearing in mind if you want to leave early in the morning). Dogs are allowed, we didn't find them a nuisance. Overall, we found the price/performance ratio very good, especially considering the area and the time (absolute high season) and were happy in retrospect to have discovered this site by chance in passing, after we had so spontaneously failed to get a pitch at other sites.

During high season, a food truck visits regularly, and the small coffee bar with its terrace is a lovely place to relax. Fresh bread and pastries can be ordered daily at the reception. Swimming in the Lake or the Sea Lacanau Lake is just a few minutes’ drive from the campsite – great for swimming, stand-up paddling, sailing or windsurfing. And if you’re craving the sea, it’s just as easy to reach: drive through the coastal town of Lacanau and you'll soon have your feet in the sand. The town also offers shops and restaurants for anything you might need. Forests, Wine and Walking The area around the campsite is lush and full of opportunities for hiking and cycling. Nearby, you'll find castles and picturesque vineyards – a fantastic chance to enjoy a wine tasting and discover the region’s finest vintages.

Norādes

In Lacanau, take Avenue de l’Océan (D6) towards the Atlantic. Follow the road until you reach number 655. The campsite is tucked away in the forest, just a few minutes from the lake. Look for the sign “Camping Liberté Lacanau”.
