The homepage rightly states that the direct route up the mountain from Trieste is very difficult to cycle (even for advanced cyclists). Contrary to what is stated there, I would recommend not following the main road, but taking the Strada dei friuli from Trieste to Prosecco (pleasant gradient, great views).
