We spent two nights in a very quiet and peaceful place. The welcome was very good and the lady in reception was very kind. Sanitary very clean, lots of hot water. We'd definitely come back! We visited the castle which was very interesting.

We are delighted that you enjoyed the cleanliness of your mobile home and the natural environment of the campsite, especially the nearby river.
Concerning the noise of falling on the roof, it is indeed acorns or small... branches, our campsite being nestled in the heart of the forest, it is a natural phenomenon in this season. This forest setting is part of the experience we offer, with its charms... and its little unexpected noises.
We always like to bounce back on reviews like yours to inform visitors about how we operate. In a small structure like ours, we take care of everything, from A to Z: reception, maintenance, cleaning, repairs, arrival/departure management, etc. That's why the check-out times are so short. That's why departure times (before 10 a.m.) are so important in our rentals, so that we can guarantee that the accommodation is clean and ready for the following holidaymakers from 4 p.m. onwards.
Deposits are now standard practice in our industry. It helps us to maintain the quality of our accommodations, and to make everyone aware of their responsibilities so that everyone can enjoy a well-kept place, season after season.

The shower timer goes cold at the top of the timer! You have to wait a few minutes for the 2nd person to shower! That's unpleasant if you have to go out!

Thank you very much Laure Helene Kouoh for your message and your very good note, as well as for your kindness during your visit to the campsite on the occasion of the wedding at Château de Jumilhac. It was a pleasure to welcome you.
However, we would like to clarify a small point concerning the shower... "timer": The sticker on the wall is in no way a device that cuts off the hot water or an automatic timer. It is simply visual information designed to raise awareness of water consumption, in partnership with ADEME (Agence de la transition écologique), as part of our commitment to the Clef Verte label.
Of course, if we had been aware of a real problem with hot water temperature, we would have intervened immediately to resolve it. Never hesitate to come and see us if you have any doubts, we're always here to help.
Finally, thank you for your comment about the spider webs: we take great care to keep the premises clean, but in the middle of nowhere, some eight-legged guests are sometimes quicker than we are.

We have stayed at La Chatonnerie at least 5 times- we no longer have a camper, but find the facilities for tourers, from our previous touring experience and in comparison with other sites, to be of a very high standard. The Super Mercure mobile homes are in a class above , M & Mme Maris have constantly maintained their standards over the years(which is why we have returned so often)-to a friendly welcome from them and the wonderful canine reception committee!

The layout is very well thought out, the views across the Isle valley from the pitch are lovely, especially at dusk -we always find we can drive up, walk in and relax.
The camping is ideally placed to visit the beautiful Perigord/Limousin Natural park,lovely walks

Concerning the television, its absence is a voluntary choice: here, we privilege calm, disconnection and shared moments,... far from screens. It's part of the spirit of the place, which is oriented towards nature and simplicity. That's also why we have a large games library and a huge library available to all our visitors.
On the subject of bedding, we'd like to point out that the beds are of standard height, but we understand that everyone has their own preferences in terms of comfort. We appreciate your comments.

Concerning access to the river, we understand that it may seem a little less obvious depending on where you are. The river actually runs along the entire length of... the campsite, and access can vary a little depending on the nature of the terrain. Some places are easier to get to than others, but it's nature that shapes access. We hope this did not disrupt your stay.

Great stay in a very well run peaceful campsite
Nice shady pitches, very close to river so we could keep an eye on the kids. The children also really enjoyed feeding the chickens.

Very pleasant stay, but too short. The setting is magnificent, the pitches are large and well marked out, the campsite is perfect, full of color with its flowers and vegetable garden available to customers, the sanitary facilities are very clean, there are plenty of games available, and the owners who welcome you are always present and available to ensure you have a very pleasant stay.

The campsite is very pleasant, with well-maintained trees and very clean sanitary facilities. The staff are friendly and helpful. Great services, both in terms of leisure/sports activities and practicalities: bakery delivery and access to freezers. What a good time!

Lovely compact campsite, lots of privacy, nice and cool along the river. Nice mix of nationalities.

During our stay it was 40gr. Air conditioning or pool would have been nice but luckily the river gives enough coolness. In terms of food they do have pizza and some take away but you are on your own. All things we have chosen for ourselves so that is the campsite not to blame, but good to know

It's true that in hot weather (like the 40°C you experienced), the river is our... best ally for natural cooling.
As far as catering is concerned, we do indeed offer a simple, friendly service (pizzas, takeaways), while leaving everyone free to organize things their own way - thank you for making this so clear.

Camping found by chance, as one of the few with a rental available in the middle of August. You'd think it was hiding something... Well, it hides a little jewel! Reasonably sized, the few rental units (which are not in the majority) are not on top of each other. There's a real camping atmosphere, unlike a 5-star campsite with a super-structure. The setting is lush and green, the river refreshing and life-saving in the middle of a heatwave, and there's plenty of fun to be had. Lovely managers I could write 3 pages, but I have to sum up: I loved it!

Not really a fault, but I wish there was a place with 2-3 tables to order and even a coffee. That would be a nice addition to the bread and pastries on offer 🙂
Peace and quiet in nature
The mobile home, one of the smallest, turned out to be perfectly functional and clean. We spend all day outside, so we don't really need more for 4 people.

We're delighted that you discovered our little corner of greenery by chance, and even more so that you liked it so much. That's exactly the spirit we want to convey: an authentic, simple, friendly camping atmosphere... that's as close to nature as possible.
Thank you also for your very accurate comment about the desire to have a coffee or a drink on site.
We don't have a bar where you can take your order, but we have set up several areas where you can enjoy a moment of relaxation:
English-style garden lounges are set up near reception,
Picnic tables and benches await you by the river,
A relaxation area is also available for you to use as you wish.
All you have to do is come and see me at reception, choose your coffee or cold drink, then sit back and enjoy it wherever you please.
