We ended up at the site by chance. The approach is as winding as the whole area, but not too steep. The pitches are large enough, laid out like terraces and offer a beautiful view of the Puys, as the site is quite high up. The site is very well maintained and lovingly designed, the sanitary facilities... are modern and spacious. However, the humming and droning of the ... I don't know what to call it, air circulator/exhaust system/heating fan??? It doesn't actually heat, because during our stay (May 12-14) it was quite chilly in the unit. But we didn't freeze to death. The reception has the essentials ready and also gives tips for hiking tours and excursions. I would strongly (!) advise against cycling, as your tongue hangs down to the ground. If you're not afraid of hiking tours with a lot of elevation gain, this is the right place for you and you'll be rewarded (Banne d'Ordance, Grande Cascade, Mont-Dore, La Bourboule, ...). A "walk" up to the Lac (start at the end of the campsite, 2nd terrace) to get used to the area will strengthen your calves! We didn't want to use the lovely pool, despite the beautiful panoramic view at 10-15 degrees. However, we did try out the restaurant, also high up on a terrace, and then had a barbecue under our awning the next evening. It was certainly ok, but not quite to our taste. All in all, we would definitely stay here again!
