"Small place with Norwegian charm - What a beautiful, lovely little campsite. We started our Norway tour there and booked one of the drop-in pitches a few days in advance. You can book one/or the first night and then extend. Even at first glance, everything is very inviting and cozy, Nan immediately has a Norwegian feeling. I was skeptical about swimming because of the river, but was pleasantly surprised. It's a lovely little beach with a sunbathing area and bathing platform, and the river is really nice for swimming. We were there for two nights and the site was fully booked every day. The pitches are tar/gravel and well maintained. But they are also very close together. There is a lack of privacy. Unfortunately, the road is also quite noisy but very little traffic at night. The sanitary facilities are small. Only two ladies showers, one men's shower. Congestion when fully occupied. But always clean. Small, well-equipped kitchen with sinks, dishes, stove, seating. There are 3 small cabins and other apartments. Ice cream in reception, bread service in the morning. A beautiful path leads through the woods behind the campsite to Udsikt. You can also walk your dog there. The owners are very friendly and helpful and put their heart and soul into running the site.

"Sandnes Camping - once again - Been here before - and just love the place! Nice small campsite (appr. 60 units) - with very nice/clean sanitary installations - VERY friendly personell, and the site itself nice level grass area. You pick the place you like, and then go to the reception for checkin when it opens in the afternoon. Located a couple of kilometers outside Mandal - along the river. YES - there is a road between the campsite and the river, but in the evening and at nighttime there is only very limited traffic. Dogfriendly - with good areas for "walking the dog" just behind the campsite. We will be back!

"Lovingly run small campsite - We had the campinghütte midstua! - great location by the river - everything clean and well maintained - close to the center of Mandal - very nice operators - good, solid huts in a rustic location - boat rental from 300 nok per day - quickly full in high season - one or two more showers would be very helpful for high occupancy - Road right next to the campsite (possibly noisy)

"Nice place with friendly owners - Beautiful site on a slope and a lake. The road in front of the lake is not too busy. You can walk here on designated paths and then have a beautiful view of Mandal and the sea. Friendly owners who will even give you a pitch at midnight if the ferry is late. You need a slightly longer cable for electricity. Dogs are welcome and feel at home here. We paid €25 for one night with electricity.

"Start campsite for our Norway tour - Small, beautiful place, we drove to it after our ferry crossing. We only stayed one night. But we didn't want for anything.

Sandnes Camping is located in an idyllic setting directly on the Mandalselva River, just a few minutes from the center of the southern Norwegian town of Mandal. Surrounded by greenery, the site is open and sunny, with direct access to …the water – ideal for a peaceful getaway. A small sandy beach and a floating dock invite guests to swim, while short trails through the nearby forest are perfect for a walk. Fishing is also possible – the river sections around the campsite offer good conditions, and fishing licenses as well as boat rentals are available on site. The pitches are level, well-maintained, and equipped with electricity. The sanitary facilities are functional and clean, including showers, toilets, a baby changing room, and accessible restrooms. There is also a shared kitchen with a stove, refrigerator, sink, and freezer, along with a laundry room featuring a washing machine and dryer. For those traveling without their own vehicle or looking for more comfort, small cabins are available. Dogs are welcome on the campsite, but not permitted in the cabins.
