""Castle ruins camping" - Last stop in Norway on our journey home from the North Cape. Access through the village was a bit narrow and tricky. We enjoyed the great ambience in a former fortress from the time of the Swedish attacks on the Norwegians, and the finally warm weather and bright blue sky probably added to our mood and impressions. We therefore stayed two nights instead of the one we had planned. The reception was a bit "bumpy", the visibly annoyed young man at reception only hinted at a pitch at the top of the campsite and said it was all a bit crooked. He then went with us to the pitch, which was simply brilliant for us. Firm ground, easy to level out with wedges. However, he also warned us that an open-air opera performance would be taking place in one part of the old fortress in the evening until after midnight and that it would be loud. Due to a thunderstorm in the evening, this was canceled, but the next day Richard Wagner was played at full volume until midnight... But it wasn't too bad. Sanitary facilities not particularly large, but adequate and clean. Small restaurant-café with quickly prepared small dishes. Due to the ambience a special CP, price was just ok.

"Unique location - Small campsite in the middle of an old fortress. The toilets and showers were clean. The site made up for what it lacked with its unique location. We would visit the site again at any time if we were passing through.

"Camping at the castle - The four stars are there because of the location between the castles and the special nature of the place. Otherwise 3 stars, because everything is a bit simple, toilets simple and clean. Price for car, caravan, 2 persons 30€/day.

"Exceptional location - The site was a stopover for us with an overnight stay on the way north. On a hill above the town in a hollow between two parts of a historic fortress lies this campsite with a special flair, the location is guaranteed to delight everyone. However, some of the pitches have a very steep gradient and cannot be used with camper vans, and some of the caravan supports are at their limits. You can camp idyllically under trees and between rocks. A public gravel path connects the fortress parts and leads across the site, but did not bother us on a weekday, but could be a problem at weekends and in the high season, e.g. in terms of peace and quiet. The reception was friendly, bread rolls are available to order and there is a small snack bar. The modern sanitary facilities were in top condition, appeared newly renovated and were clean, but were hardly used with only 8 occupied pitches. There is no entertainment, no children's playground or anything like that, but kids have plenty to explore for a few days.
