" - Camping Maisonneuve is simply beautiful. We were there for the eighth time this year and will continue to visit "our" paradise. We have never been able to understand why campers always go to the same place to spend the "best weeks" of the year there. Now we are one of them and find it hard to find words to justify this. With 43 pitches on 10 hectares, the site is simply ideal for finding the peace and quiet we need. It is left in its natural state with lots of trees and shrubs, without asphalted roads and a car wash area like on some campsites. The spaciousness of the site is particularly good for children, who can really play here without having to rely on entertainment. The sanitary facilities are clean and adequate and built in typical French style. The sufficiently large pool can be used at any time (even in the morning at 6:00 a.m. or in the evening at 10:00 p.m.). The restaurant run by Doris and Stefan is simply great for this small place. They really go out of their way to ensure that their guests have a pleasant vacation. If you don't speak French, you're in good hands here, as German, Dutch, French and English are spoken. We particularly enjoyed the evenings with other guests playing a few rounds of boules and then watching and enjoying the starry sky with a glass of red wine. The village of St.Jory de Chalais is about 500m from the campsite, where you can go for a walk in the morning to buy your baguette and croissant. The area around the campsite consists of forests and meadows. There are beautiful places to discover nearby (Brantome, Perigueux, Sarlat-la-Canéda, Bergerac, Nontron). A canoe trip with the whole family on the Dronne, a visit to the Grotte de Villars or a stroll through the town of Perigueux, or Saturday market day in Thiviers, everything is possible. We have seen so much and always experience something new, have made friends and will always come back.
