The route is well-signposted, and the setting—with trees, shade, and the lake—is very beautiful. The paths leading down to the water could be a little better maintained so that it’s easier to swim there. The campsites are spacious and well-maintained. The people who live there are very friendly and approachable, always willing to chat.

The site has a lake with a beautiful beach and sunbathing area. There is a restaurant on site and it is not far to a shopping center. The site is in a relatively quiet location.
Negativ
The hygiene of the sanitary facilities leaves a lot to be desired. Food brought along is not welcome and resulted in another group being banned from the site. The communication between the groundsman and security leaves a lot to be desired... Insults and threats of violence are uttered when there are no answers to critical questions... We witnessed this and were fortunately not affected ourselves.
Nice place, unfortunately the potential is not half used...
We spent the extended Corpus Christi weekend at the Wißmarer See campsite.

Theoretically, the site could be an absolute tip. Unfortunately, the current conditions are not such that we could recommend it as an absolute tip.

The campsite offers a lot of possibilities for families with children with its... lake and the bathing beach.

The "new" shower house is well thought out and can be entered with a chip card. This is done to give campers (with a booked VIP area) the opportunity to have a little privacy from the other lake visitors in a separate area.
Unfortunately, this has not changed the lack of hygiene in the facilities...

To be able to use the VIP area, you have to book it. You then receive a chip card on site (after asking several times, we also received our second booked and paid card).

In our opinion, the garbage bin is not well placed. Unfortunately, it is located on the most beautiful pitch (for us). This guarantees odors and unfortunately it is not nicely shielded either.

Unfortunately, the evening before our own departure we witnessed a conflict between the groundsman/security and a camping group. This was because of the ordering and taking away of pizzas. This conflict was carried out loudly with insults and threats of violence towards the camping guests.

The comments written were also promptly marked for deletion by the operator...

In summary, it was a nice weekend.
Hence the three stars.
However, we will not be returning due to the infrastructure and incidents described.

Camping with a surprise effect
Those looking for peace, relaxation and a stress-free weekend should perhaps consider a second option.

We were warmly welcomed at the entrance with the friendliness of a tax inspector. The security staff managed to completely reinterpret the word "security".

New guests receive very little information.... Fresh water, waste disposal or other important things are best discovered as part of an exciting scavenger hunt around the site.

The new wash house is modern, but feels designed for the number of visitors on a rainy Tuesday in November. Wash house 2, on the other hand, is a charming reminder of how camping used to be. Toilet paper was an element of surprise: sometimes there, sometimes not.

The speed regulation is particularly interesting. Guests should of course drive at walking pace. The employees on their e-scooters, on the other hand, seem to be training for the MotoGP qualifiers.

You should plan your thirst for the long term at the kiosk. If you want a cold Hefeweizen in fifth place, you might find that the first four guests have already secured the entire fridge stock.

The highlight of the weekend, however, was the realization that a critical assessment during the stay can lead to an unplanned early departure towards the exit.

Thanks to a nearby parking lot including porta-potties, we were able to make the comparison: The porta-potties surprisingly cut a very good figure.

Conclusion: If you're looking for adventure, spontaneous twists and turns and a pinch of thrills, you might get your money's worth here. However, we personally prefer the classic version with a little less drama on our next camping trip.

The campsite seems extremely disorganized
Our stay at the campsite got off to a chaotic start: on arrival, we were initially told that payment and further information would be clarified later. After setting up camp, we had to run to the registration desk again. There it turned out that the sanitary tickets were only available at the entrance... and were only valid for the main building. Additional shower tokens had to be purchased for other sanitary blocks. Although we had paid for two tickets, we had to ask for the second one several times, as an employee supposedly thought it was unnecessary.
The information on site also proved to be unreliable. According to the information sheet, waste disposal should be possible until 6pm, but the area was closed every time we tried. The sanitary facilities were in a very poor condition overall: dirty toilets, lack of toilet paper, hair in the showers and apparently hardly any cleaning. In addition, there were only three showers and two sinks per building - far too few for the number of guests. There were also no water connections at the pitches, which meant that we constantly had to walk long distances.
The behavior of one employee was particularly negative. On the way to the lake with two small children and a handcart, we were asked in an unfriendly manner to remove the cart immediately. In addition, we were asked in an inappropriate tone whether we had paid at all.
The information on the website did not correspond to reality either. The advertised large playground only consisted of two swings. There was also a lot of confusion about the prices: After booking, we initially received an invoice, later a cheaper one and then suddenly had to pay significantly more again on site. There was no comprehensible explanation for this.
The lake also looked very dirty and muddy. Overall, our stay was disappointing, so we would definitely not recommend this campsite to others.

The site basically has potential and the location on the lake could be really beautiful. Unfortunately, the negative impressions clearly outweigh the positive ones for us.

One major problem is the cleanliness of the sanitary facilities - both in the old and the new sanitary area. In our opinion, there... is a clear need for improvement here. Especially on a campsite this is a central point and unfortunately the conditions were not satisfactory for us.

Unfortunately, the mini golf course is practically unusable and appears to have been completely abandoned. Overall, the whole site makes a very outdated impression. Much of it looks unkempt and you can clearly see that there is a considerable investment backlog.

We also found the organization on site to be difficult. Important camping information was completely missing from the information sheet provided - for example, information on where to get fresh water or dispose of gray water. This is essential information, especially for campers.

The garbage regulations were also very confusing. Waste disposal was only possible in very limited time slots (10-11am or 5-6pm), which is unnecessarily inconvenient in everyday camping life.

We have a particularly negative memory of the situation on the beach: our handcart was not allowed to be taken along despite having two small children. Rules are perfectly fine - but the manner of communication was very unfriendly and unnecessarily rude.

Unfortunately, the lake itself didn't impress us either. There was a lot of algae and there was also a greasy film on the surface of the water, which really spoiled the bathing experience.

Conclusion: The site definitely has potential. With passion, investment and more attention to maintenance, appearance and guest communication, it could really become something beautiful. In our view, however, there is currently an urgent need for action - both in terms of the condition of the facility and the way in which guests are treated and the

Very disappointing experience during the Easter event. A family with two small children (aged 3 and 5) were treated aggressively because of something small. They were shouted at ("at home"), security staff with dogs were called in and the family was expelled from the premises in front of all the guests. The children are still scared to this day after this incident. That's no way to treat families.

Run-down square
Not very inviting on arrival, very unkempt, the reception is a small wooden hut, the guest stands outside. The tourist pitches for caravans and cars are too small, either you are standing in front of a scrap miniature golf course or next to scrap caravans and garbage containers, heaps of rotten wood... and a wooden fence. The walk around the beautifully situated lake is like walking around a scrap yard, everything is in a state of disrepair. Of the 3 sanitary buildings, only one is really usable. And on departure: the gate was only half open, so you couldn't drive through it with a trailer. The groundsman asked us to open the gate fully: push it open yourself, it's raining.
We certainly won't be back.

My family and I had rented a camping tent for 10 people. The tent was full of mold and we looked into other tents that were not rented and they were all infested with mold! It stank in the tents and the floor of the tent had not been cleaned at all before...

No longer for us
For us, this place is a pure rip-off. For the only new sanitary building you first have to buy a card to be able to shower, we were not told this on arrival. In the older sanitary buildings you have to buy coins for a small shower cubicle which still has the old shower curtains. When looking into the... old toilets it is noticeable that sometimes there is not even toilet paper. There is also no paper to dry off after washing your hands. The staff at the outdated reception are not the friendliest either. Opening hours of the reception only at 10 o'clock is also not up to date. The best thing about the site is the lake with its sunbathing lawn. The pitches are large enough, but have no fresh water connection. Since we were traveling with the motorhome, we looked in vain for a V / E place. So for this place the price is simply too high because you have to pay for everything else. For us definitely not again.

The campsite was just brilliant. We were there in August with our two huskies. Very friendly from the reception to the catering, where the burgers are SUPER tasty. And very very clean everything from the toilets and showers. NOTHING TO COMPLAIN!!! LOVE GREETINGS FROM RODGAU. We would love to come back. And the rest of you...shame on you for your negative comments...they really aren't appropriate here.

The location of the site directly on the Lahn combined with the lovely warm Wißmarer See. The site was very clean and well maintained. What I missed a little is that the pitches are not gravelled. Otherwise, the site is a perfect place to relax and enjoy the peace and quiet. The food on offer at the Kormoran restaurant was also excellent in taste and reasonably priced. All the staff made every effort to ensure the camper had a perfect stay. I would like to emphasize the employee Frank at the children's bouncy castle. Always friendly to the children and always ready to answer any questions. I would also like to highlight the two security staff. Both were always in a good mood and did a great job. Keep it up.... And finally, I would like to mention Mike Will, the boss of the facility. He is incredibly nice and courteous. He has his store fully under control, as we "Swabians" say. Keep it up....Mike...!! We will definitely be back!!! It was a great stay with you... Thank you!!!

Overall a great stay with great impressions of a beautiful campsite.
The site is manageable and easy to walk around.
I was very satisfied with my stay here in Wettenberg.
We had great camping days at Wißmarer See.
As I said, it was not the last time we were at Wißmarer See.

We wonder how the campsite got a good rating at all! As soon as you drive in, you get the impression in some places that you are driving through a scrapyard. Of the 3 sanitary buildings, 2 are totally outdated, some of the showers don't work (despite expensive shower tokens, 6 for 9! euros), mold on... the ceiling, disgusting shower curtains, shower cubicles far too narrow, disgusting smell, no barriers at the washbasins. In the new sanitary building there are a few individual showers and a communal shower! Nobody needs that anymore! Not a single water tap on the pitch, you always have to go to the sanitary building, which is sometimes several hundred meters away. You have to be careful not to break your bones at the garbage dump.
Totally unsuitable for a feel-good vacation. 2 days are just enough to keep the feeling of disgust within limits.
This place is not recommended. You could do so much with it. The location on the lake is beautiful. But here money is just being siphoned off without anything being invested.

The lake and beach are very beautiful. The small restaurant is nice and very friendly service.

The staff at the campsite are disinterested in their guests. The place would have a lot of attractions to offer but everything is broken. The sanitary building seems to be new but is impossible because there is no ventilation. It stinks and is unkempt. All this is bearable for one night.
For me, this is one of the places where "we don't have to go to so much trouble"
I would only recommend this place for swimming. Food was good but unimaginative. Schnipo hardly vegetarian no vegan offer.

There are no ABGs. Rules for your stay are hidden under "Camping Info" on the website.
It is better not to occupy the owner's personal parking space. Unfortunately, you have to guess where it is. There is no indication. And the parking space is also located in the entrance area of the wash house. But... it's better not to park your bike there.
We only found out about the drone used by the campsite operator to monitor the site after the fact.
