The operator is very friendly. Otherwise the site is populated by permanent Swiss campers, some of whom were quite cheeky.
Sanitary facilities are clean, but getting on in years. The tourist pitches are at the very back. Shopping 25 minutes away by car in Bonndorf. No mobile... phone reception, WLAN only for an extra charge or near the Waldschenke. We got free tickets for a nearby swimming lake at 8-13°C outside temperature.Automatisk oversat.Besvaret fra WALDCAMPING Birkendorf 14. september 2025Hello Stefan,
It's a shame that you had "cheeky encounters" with our permanent campers - we don't like to hear that and it's also very unusual for us, because our permanent campers are otherwise perceived very positively by our tourist campers.
Your 2-star rating is based on circumstances that we communicate... openly and clearly. We are remote, a quiet site, with sanitary facilities from the year of construction but always kept clean to the best of our ability. If you don't want that, you don't have to visit us and then leave a 2-star rating.
We don't know what motivates you to rate us so poorly when we were supposedly friendly and didn't promise anything we couldn't deliver. This also includes the bad weather, which you unfortunately had during your 1-night stay - unfortunately we have no influence on that.
Perhaps you would like to reconsider your judgment.
Kind regards

We really liked both the site and its immediate surroundings. The sanitary facilities are older, but spotlessly clean.
The host team, who also run the restaurant, are very relaxed and particularly friendly. All the food and... drinks we enjoyed on the two evenings tasted delicious and the price-performance ratio was excellent!
Even though we were there without children, we think the place is very suitable for families.

The chemical emptying was defective, and not only recently, you had to make his emptying at the motorhome disposal place, outdoors on open space in front of the terrace of the restaurant. The places are either on the meadow full in the sun or between permanent campers.Vacation 7 days 2024The only thing I can praise is their homepage, which is better than the original.Automatisk oversat.Besvaret fra WALDCAMPING Birkendorf 29. november 2024Hello Jürgen
We are sorry that you were not able to enjoy your visit with us. Yes, we have taken over old sanitary facilities, but we are always working to ensure that they are clean. It is not possible to prevent mold from forming in the old joints, but these are always cleaned and a renovation is being... planned.
Unfortunately, we had pipe damage this summer, which meant that the attached chemical disposal system and the urinals could not be used at times. This pipe has now been replaced and everything is working smoothly again. We were glad that we were able to offer an alternative to chemical disposal and enough toilets.
The fact that our pitches on the forest meadow have hours of sunshine is generally very popular with guests, as we have a pleasant climate at 750 meters above sea level, even in summer. However, as the new owners and in the spirit of our WALDCAMPING, we are also planning to plant trees and bushes here to make the experience even greener, closer to nature and, if desired, with more shade.
We felt the need to respond to your very negative feedback. We don't want to deny that we have an older infrastructure, but it is very important to us that everything works and is always clean. Fortunately, the reviews from other guests speak for themselves. We wish you all the best and continued wonderful travel experiences.Automatisk oversat.1 camper fandt denne bedømmelse hjælpsom. - 5.0
Nadine T.juli 20245.0Nadine T.juli 2024PositiveThe campsite is in the forest and a stream runs past it, which was a welcome refreshment for the children. Nearby is the Waldkugelbahn and a natural outdoor pool. The site is clean and quiet. The operators are child-friendly and very nice people. The playground is new and there is something for all ages.NegativIf you need cell phone reception, you won't find it here, but there is free Wi-Fi near the reception and a charge for the rest of the site. The showers are a little cramped for showering with children, but a renovation of the sanitary facilities is planned.Perfect vacation with childrenWe spent a wonderful two weeks here. From here we were able to start hiking tours, spend a lazy day in the outdoor pool with the children, play a round on the marble run in the evening, the children had everything they needed and so did we. Many beautiful sights are easy to reach from here. There are... many child-friendly tours and themed trails in the region, including local or geocaching for children. You can get information about this a short distance away in Grafenhausen. As tent users, we thought the lockable fridge compartments were great. This meant we could store things better and didn't have to plan shopping so often. - 3.0PKPetra K.maj 20243.0PKPetra K.maj 2024PositiveThe site is very quiet and the atmosphere is very friendly The restaurant on site is good.NegativWe found the buildings of the many permanent campers very unattractive. They were actually rather small weekend houses that weren't always nice to look at. The showers were spotlessly clean, but very cramped and there were really no hooks!Rest and relaxationWe were unlucky with the weather, which is no one's fault. The meadow was not passable when we arrived, and the allocated pitches by the sanitary block were very soft.
It's easy to hike from the site, and Basel and other beautiful towns are not far away.
Overall, the stay was okay despite the bad weather.Automatisk oversat.Besvaret fra WALDCAMPING Birkendorf 29. november 2024Hello Petra
Thank you for your feedback. In the meantime, we have installed more hooks in the showers and we are currently creating winter and weatherproof pitches.
The beauty of the permanent camping pitches is definitely debatable, but we are pleased that the areas for tourism, especially on the... forest meadow and in the future also around the main house, are being designed more beautifully and we are also working with the permanent campers to reduce the buildings and, in particular, to keep them well maintained.
Come and visit us again - because even in good weather everything is always a little nicer :)
Greetings from Birkendorf

Camping is always a highlight for our children (aged 6 and 9) anyway. This time, too, we were able to enjoy a great weekend. In addition to total peace and quiet on the campsite, we were able to experience a beautiful starry sky in the... evening. During the day we went to the Naturena swimming lake, which was perfect for cooling off. With our stay at the campsite, we were even able to visit the Naturena bathing lake free of charge.
