"Idyllic campsite in the castle park - The campsite is situated on a hill in a spacious castle park. The pitches are huge. The caravans and motorhomes are set up in a circle along the path and there is plenty of space between them and their neighbors. The pitches are either by the lake, on the edge of the forest or right next to the castle, just as you like it. There is a heated pool - a great place to take a dip in the morning. The sanitary facilities are located in the former stables and may not be the newest, but they are clean. There is a restaurant on site, but I can't say anything about it as we didn't try it. In the morning, a baker comes and sells baguettes, croissants and chocolate rolls; madelaines and other sweet items can be ordered. The campsite is ideal for exploring the surrounding area. Le Mans is not far away and can be reached by bike. There is also a new supermarket nearby. Unfortunately, we did not discover any other restaurants. The campsite is mainly frequented by people passing through. We only spent 2 days here on our way to Brittany, but will certainly plan a longer stay next time.

"Extremely courteous - Unfortunately we didn't get to visit, but (!) the reservation and the communication (in English) beforehand was excellent. You get a link to the really well made "welcome booklet" (in German) with all the interesting information in advance. Cancellation is also possible after consultation and by mutual agreement. We are definitely planning to come back later.

"Only too good for 1 night when passing through - Passing through, unfortunately only one night from Aug. 30 to Aug. 31, which was too short to enjoy everything. Also, the place is always closed from Sept. 1, but still all the facilities were available until the last minute. The staff were also cheerful and friendly, no thought of all the guests leaving the next day. The sanitary facilities in the former stables, some of which are over 100 years old, can of course not compete with new buildings, but there are plenty of them and they are always clean. It sounds strange to talk about "charm" here, but the ancient beams have their own charm. This also applies to the many small, beautifully laid out, well-kept places with tables and benches. The bistro, bar, restaurant and take-away service have plenty of tables and chairs outside or in tents or under awnings. The baguette/croissant service was excellent. We really liked the entire lovingly maintained grounds with the ancient trees. This time we won't wait 30 years until our next visit.

"Idyll in the castle park - Friendly and personal welcome. Large pitches for large caravans and motorhomes. Partly in the middle of the forest. However, limited shopping facilities on the site. Top baked goods available in the morning directly from the bakery in front of the castle. All kinds of livestock on the site (geese, ducks, chickens), great for children and friends of country life. Very nice boss and family, very helpful.

Vejbeskrivelse

Take the A11 motorway and exit at Le Mans. Follow signs for Le Mans Est, then head towards Sillé-le-Philippe. In Sillé-le-Philippe, follow the signs to Château de Chanteloup. The campsite is quietly located in the heart of nature.
