Excellent quiet location bombastic view
I was there 3 times in the 2 weeks vacation price performance is great. The staff super friendly. Nice small and cozy direktckt on the cathedral lake of Ratzeburg. To do big shopping you have to drive about 20 minutes through the forest at Bäk and on the water by bike, by car about 20 minutes ebndfalls... through Bäk.
The bathroom was very clean. The place is with lawn as well as with plates. Electricity is also available everywhere. If the weather is not suitable for swimming, you can also fish there or you can rent a boat and go to the Domsee or Ratzeburge See.
The water there is clean and the bathing area for dogs is a little out of the way, but we also went swimming there. The view of Ratzeburg Cathedral is also very good. I have lived in Ratzeburg for many years and didn't know that there were such beautiful places now that I have seen this, I will enjoy the view more often and visit this place with the camper.

A really beautifully situated campsite on the beautiful Ratzeburger See. Great for kayakers etc. You can camp on a meadow, and if you're lucky there's something free right by the water (we were lucky). The value for money is also great, very friendly operators and an overall very relaxed atmosphere.

We didn't find any disadvantages - so we will certainly check in here again!
Great place
To be honest, the entire facility and the colorful camping experience on the meadow are truly exceptional. But let's be clear: the standard of a 4-season hotel? No, thank you! After all, we're here to camp, aren't we, fellow campers?
Regardless of whether you arrive with a tent, camper or motorhome -... the unparceled space for tourists is simply great. There are also shady spots if the sun is beating down again.

And the sanitary facilities? Yes, there are, and during our stay they were absolutely clean and in good condition. And hey, you can order bread rolls in advance at reception, where the friendly staff are always on hand. What more could you ask for?
Satellite reception at every pitch (even under trees!) and lightning-fast Wi-Fi with an incredible 1000 MBit/s perhaps? Oh, and those wonderfully straight pitches that prevent you from dragging a blade of grass into your 7-star motorhome?

Hmmm... what else makes camping so special? Perhaps the opportunity to be in nature? Away from the stress of everyday life? Reading a good book or chatting with others instead of staring at a screen? And the journey there as a little adventure? Well, a real sense of adventure doesn't really come with cobblestones and sandy paths, does it? But maybe that will keep the eternal whingers away.

Okay, enough complaining about some people's exaggerated ideas. For everyone else, this site is definitely a clear recommendation.
This campsite combines exactly what you are looking for when camping: functional facilities, cleanliness and relaxation. No excessive luxury, but honest comfort and genuine friendliness in a fantastic setting for those who want to camp!
If you want to wake up by the lake in the morning, go for a paddle and sit around the barbecue in the evening while you unwind - this is the place for you and you'll be happy to come back!

We had planned to spend a few nice days at the Schwalkenberg campsite in July 23. We are both gainfully employed and would have had a journey of around 5 hours. I had asked beforehand if it would be a problem if we arrived a little later as we had to work until 3pm on the day of arrival. I was told that it would not be a problem and I was given a cell phone number to call. But unfortunately due to traffic jams and construction sites the journey was extended from 5 to almost 7 hours, so I called the cell phone number. It was about 8.30 pm and I was told to call again if we still had an hour to get to the campsite, so when we still had an hour to go (and were already looking forward to the campsite) I called again !!!!!!!! I was just made a fool of, he supposedly knew nothing more, was audibly drunk and did not respond to any calls. We were pissed off, it was cold and it was raining 😡😡😡😡 so we didn't feel like going to this campground anymore. The next morning I sent an e-mail to vent my anger. They had politely apologized and offered us a free weekend for this year 2024 . Then I wrote to the campsite a week ago and asked when it would fit and they would have a pitch 😂😂😂😂 and what can I say? They ignored me until now and I don't think they will get back to me either. SO WE AGAIN CAMPSITE SCHWALKENBERG ????? NEVER AGAIN !!!!!!!!!!

I can't say anything about it because we didn't go to the campsite because we were really pissed off 😡😡

An outdated, unkempt site with catastrophic access.
A place with many downsides
Tourist pitches on some meadow areas with extremely high, unkempt trees and shrubs. Lake view and SAT reception impossible or severely restricted. Part of the site with permanent campers where the first row is barred from access to the water by fences and prohibition signs. The only thing missing are... the automatic firing systems from the former nearby GDR border,
Outdated sanitary facilities. Supply and disposal for campers / caravans behind the house are unreasonable and disgusting next to the dishwashers. Incorrect cables and sockets on the ground. Baked bread rolls are available in the morning from 8-9 am. Nothing else. The location is great, but everything else is not worth €29 a day.

We will have a new team at the campsite from 2024 and are working hard to rectify the issues mentioned. Preparations for the coming season are in full swing. However, we need some time to meet all the requirements.

Beautifully situated natural campsite
The site is very quiet and certainly interesting for water sports enthusiasts. Not particularly suitable for motorhomes and cyclists. The cycle paths around the Ratzeburger See are quite demanding and not for the normal touring cyclist.
Only 3 points were awarded for the catering, as there is only a bread roll service and more would also disturb the character of this place.

The location on Ratzeburger See and Domsee is unbeatable. The places are sufficient ...you have space and can feel comfortable. The bread roll service is great ... just like the operators, who are quite uncomplicated.
Negativ
The sanitary facilities are definitely in need of renovation. I think it's a shame that the sanitary facilities are divided between the permanent campers and the normal guests...it doesn't have to be that way. The access road is a challenge both on the outward journey, but even more so on the return journey. You need strong nerves.
Small paradise with potential
Beautiful place, very well located, pure nature, for all age groups. But improvement in the sanitary facilities is absolutely necessary.

Nice and helpful staff, well-kept place, quiet location, ideal for water sports (canoeing, kayaking, SUP, sailing...) Hiking, cycling etc. is also good. Sanitary facilities very clean, cleaned several times a day. We will definitely be back.

Two wash houses, one of which is reserved for permanent campers only. Too few for short-term guests in times of Corona, because distance and hygiene rules must be observed.
Very beautiful natural campsite
We felt very comfortable here, had an incredible amount of space, nice campers, short distances to the water. Kayaks, pedal boats and bicycles available for hire. Small bathing beach. Playground available. The weather was perfect. Pitch too. Great value for money, electricity, showers and water all included.

Our tractor ride
After a somewhat bumpy journey, a superbly located site awaited us. Directly on the lake, swimming facilities with a "monkey swing", awesome. We were warmly welcomed, marveled at and photographed with 2 vintage tractors and caravans.

Very nice lie, but otherwise......
Very nice location, but that was it. We wanted to spend a weekend on the campsite in August, but left after checking in. The owner was drunk, the wash house and toilets were filthy, the drinking water hose was in the dirt and everything was very unkempt. We then drove to Naturcamping Buchholz on Ratzeburger See.

Location, location, location.
Very satisfied
We stayed at the site over Whitsun 2018 and were really impressed. We had a great pitch with a view of Lake Ratzeburg, friendly neighbors and even though it was very busy at the bathing area, we were never annoyed by the noise.

Leisure activities on and in the lake with a wonderful view of Ratzeburg Cathedral. Especially in the evening around a campfire.

The site cannot cope with too many short-term campers. Then it gets cramped in the sanitary facilities.
Perfect place for families with children
I have been a camper on the site for almost 10 years and cannot understand reviews from December 2015, as the campsite is not actually open at this time and therefore the surroundings (boats parked in winter, etc.) cannot be a yardstick for the season. I am glad that the site is left in its natural state. A wonderful place for nature lovers.

The site is very quiet and surrounded by idyllic nature. You have an incredible view of Ratzeburg Cathedral from some of the pitches. There are also some free pitches right by the water. The groundsman Heino is very nice and happy to help wherever he can. You can hire canoes on the site. There is also... a bathing area and a rope for jumping/swinging into the water. Shopping facilities are unfortunately somewhat limited except for the kiosk. But you can paddle across the lake to Ratzeburg in 10 minutes by canoe and go shopping there. The place is very natural with beautiful large trees, which we liked very much. Can't understand some of the complaints here that the pitches are not fixed and are paved with paving slabs and the trees make satellite reception of the caravan impossible etc. This is a campsite in the countryside and not a motorhome park, which is more like a parking lot. The sanitary facilities are a bit older but okay. The showers are included in the price and you don't need tokens. Cleanliness was fine. The site is a paradise for children. If you like idyllic, natural campsites, this is the place for you.

a gem - quite wonderful :-)
such a beautiful place !!! no cars are allowed on the large campground !!! that alone is hardly to be found anywhere today !!! how beautiful it is and how relaxing, you only realize when you have noticed this extraordinary condition. and a fantastic bathing place !!! we were totally thrilled from the... beginning and try to come back every year since then (be careful - don't advertise too much!) we wish the operators continued success and that the place will continue to exist in this form for a very long time !!!

Location of course top Children and dogs welcome But - sanitary facilities unkempt, unclean (once a day is not enough at the Pentecost rush). Group changing room for showering and if you want to use the toilet you can tear off the toilet paper in front of the cabin - escape routes were blocked - when... it rains the place turns into a mud landscape - there's stuff lying around everywhere - operators are friendly on arrival but that's it. Should get a calculator A place with potential but also nature camping wants to be maintained and maintained

As the predecessors have written very muddy place. Sanitary facilities old and no longer up to date. Not really clean either due to the large crowds. All in all, very poor value for money. I had also made a reservation and received confirmation by email. On the pitch I was then told: reservation is not... possible. If full then full. Too bad. You could have just written it in the email. I left a day earlier than planned. As the groundsman needed the pitch for the following ones, you were more or less kicked off the pitch. Although you had paid for the night longer. So once and never again. However, the site is in a great location. And if you don't care much about clean sanitary facilities and like to drive your car and walk through mud, this is certainly the right place for you. For children and dogs, however, the site is really great. You can let off steam. And there's really no noticeable mess.
