Very unfriendly boss and manager
I didn't feel welcome
The row by the lake was empty, as was the second one. I asked for a spot by the lake, but the manager said that wasn’t possible—they still had to mow the lawn. At 27 degrees and with the meadows already dry? I had to go to the third row. The next guest sat down next to me, and the one after that got... a spot by the lake—even though only five minutes had passed and there wasn’t a lawn mower in sight. On my way over, I mentioned it to the owner, but he said, “That’s not my responsibility—my wife handles that.” That’s not what I’d call hospitality. :-(

the swimming lake, the beautiful campsites, the food truck

It didn't bother us, but the infrastructure in that small town is rather poor.
A small, charming campground surrounded by beautiful nature, with a swimming lake
This rather small campground has a great little swimming lake and is situated in a very scenic area. Many campsites are right on the lake, where you can take a refreshing dip. For children, there’s a beach and a raft. The small lake is also fun for older kids, for example, with SUP. The surrounding area... is ideal for hikes starting right from the campground or for quick drives to other trails in the Rhön. The restaurant next to the campground is closed, but the campground operator has set up a food truck. The food there was very tasty. Across from the campground is a bakery with a good selection. You’ll need a car for other shopping. Cyclists passing through enjoy staying here. And for travelers with trailers, there’s the option to stay overnight without unhitching.

De camping is overzichtelijk en de ontvangst vriendelijk. Er is een klein meertje waar de kinderen fijn in spelen kunnen. Het sanitair zier er perfect uit, voor de douches moet wel een muntje worden gekocht. We were here one night on a door trip and were able to stay overnight.

Tegenover de camping is a bakker that opens every night at 6.00. Nice if you want to eat in advance!

Very nice place
We were passing through on our way south. Called and immediately got a drive-through site in the evening. We were able to stay attached. Super new and super clean sanitary facilities. Showers are separate and cost one euro. (Rare but ok). Food truck on site and nice little lake in the middle. Easy to reach from the A7 (approx. 15 minutes). Everything was great.

Pitch directly on the water, water depth only 1.30 - ideal for children, "food stall" on site, top sanitary facilities.
Negativ
In terms of space, there were no disadvantages for us. Cycling is not so much fun. There is a military training area on one side. It's a nice area, but you can't get there by bike. On the other side is the highway...
Small, clear, beautiful lake
I was very surprised, pleasantly surprised and delighted. This place is a hit. We were lucky enough to be able to stand right on the water. The view was truly adventurous.... Watching the children and adults "boarding" and climbing onto the rafts was fun and pure relaxation. With a water depth of 1.30,... even I dared to get on the SUP to practice without "fear" of falling into the depths. pure pleasure.
I was also surprised by the sanitary facilities for this small campsite. Well equipped and always clean! The shower time (with coins) of 7 minutes is sufficient. The food truck is an eye-catcher and the food - well, just camping food - is enough! We had a relaxing week.

The underlying quarrels between the bakery, the CP and the inn are an unnecessary burden on the CP
Great CP
Wonderful place, easily accessible.
The bathing lake is a dream, with a depth of 130 cm suitable for everyone. The rafts in it are a pleasure for young and old.
The professional handling of the overnight guests arriving daily is organized in such a way that the holidaymakers notice very little. I was... impressed to see how the whole meadow is filled with caravans evening after evening, which disappear again silently in the morning. It is logical that this causes a certain amount of unrest, but this is also thanks to the location on the A7.
The CP owner donates bread rolls from a rival bakery and has placed a snack bar right in front of the inn - a pity, these things work in the background. It is also noticeable that people are treated very differently, I have heard very different reports, but have only had good experiences myself.
The sanitary facilities are modern, but I didn't notice any shortages.
The hillside location makes going to the toilet at night a mountain hike...

A pearl
As the name suggests, this campsite is a pearl. Very nice team who always like to surprise us. This morning they put four bread rolls in front of our car. Many thanks for that.
When people are impetuous (requests when the campsite is full), they try to act calmly and with a solution-oriented approach.... This temporarily presents the team with unpleasant tasks. (Especially when the campsite is full). They try to find a suitable solution for everyone. A big thank you for this too.
The campsite itself is an oasis. Quiet, clean and in the middle of nature. There is a romantic bathing pond on the campsite itself. There is even a food van on the site offering lots of tasty treats. Sufficient choice of good restaurants in the immediate vicinity. Bakery opposite.
The sanitary facilities are new, clean and well maintained.
In the reviews, people complain about the short-stayers who are looking for a safe place to stay. I don't find this annoying at all because the changes are quiet and professionally organized. Everyone's visibility is always individual.

Hiking weekend
We spent a lovely hiking weekend here. Several hiking trails start behind the campsite. The Mottener is a particularly beautiful hiking trail. We had an excellent meal in the neighboring village of Speicherz as we didn't like the local restaurants.

Close to the highway, dog run, good restaurant, nice sanitary facilities
Great place for transit, but also for longer stays
Located just a few kilometers from the A7 and was ideal for an overnight stay with a camper van. There is a really good restaurant on the site and a bakery on the other side of the road. Dogs are welcome, there is a large meadow at the edge of the site where dogs can let off steam. The small bathing lake is crystal clear and, unless children are playing on the shore, no one minds if a dog goes into the water.

Annoyed registration lady
The lady at the registration desk seemed annoyed and unfriendly. We are glad we booked anyway. Not far from us, it will be our new camper short vacation. Sanitary facilities very nice and clean. Nice fellow campers. Wonderful walks with the dog. And for once we didn't have a barbecue but went out for a delicious meal.

Nice campsite not only for transit but also for longer stays
Beautiful, small campsite in the Bavarian Rhön with a small swimming lake. Sanitary clean and new, restaurant, Irish pub is unfortunately closed, bakery in the neighborhood, this campsite is recommended. We were there in 2016 & 2017 & 2019 for a long weekend and felt very comfortable. TOP groundsman!!!

actually none, maybe a playground is missing
Ideal transit point
We used the Rhönperle campsite twice this summer, once for the outward journey and once for the return journey, as a transit site. In addition to the actual pitches, there is a large meadow where you can park without being disconnected. Electricity is available. The campsite operators are very friendly... and you are given instructions. The location of the site is very nice. It is about 7 km from the A7. The sanitary facilities are tastefully decorated and were always clean. The small bathing lake in the middle of the site is great for swimming. Perhaps a small playground for the little ones is missing, at least we didn't see one during our short visits. The bakery directly opposite the campsite sells fresh bread rolls and coffee for the onward journey. We liked it very much. We will be back again.

Beautiful campsite in a quiet location
We stayed at the Rhönperle campsite for a few days in October. The site was only sparsely occupied and we were given a nice pitch right by the lake. The staff are very friendly. There is a bakery close to the site with a good selection and a small range of groceries. There is a recommended restaurant right next to the campsite.

Clean, quiet and great operators
One of our favorite campsites.
We love this place. It's only 25 km from our home. Very nice operators and a top groundsman who also takes time for a nice chat or simply brings over a few zucchinis from his own garden. A place where you can simply relax. And of course the beautifully landscaped bathing lake, which was very refreshingly cool, even in the hot temperatures this year. We promise to come back to Kothen often. Best wishes to you all.

Ideal for a short vacation in the Rhön
This was our third time there for a few days in the fall. Unfortunately, we had really bad weather this time. We are a 50+ couple with a dog and travel with a T5 and awning. The site is well maintained, the sanitary buildings are super clean and the bakery across the road has all the essentials and even... buns on Sundays. The inn "Zur Postkutsche" in the village is also hospitable to dog owners and has exceptionally good cuisine, which alone is worth the trip. We will be back again.
