"Friendliness?? - Vacation in Houstrup, Denmark, and a trip to Fanø to check out the Klitten campground with a view to booking for next year. When we arrived, the gate was closed, but the bolt was open, so we drove across the campground once. Hours: Open year-round (January through December) We WANTED to, but then the groundskeeper stormed toward us, upset, loud, and very unfriendly. He demanded to know what we were doing there, said the gate was closed, and told us to leave the grounds immediately! “Sorry,” I said, explaining why we were there, but he wouldn’t calm down—he was like a little HB man, all worked up and very unfriendly! My husband and I—66 and 62 years old, plus a small dog—certainly don’t look like we’re looting the campground or spying on anything, especially since the campground is open year-round! Maybe we’re not supposed to look “behind the scenes”? If he’d reacted kindly and spoken to us reasonably, it wouldn’t have been a problem, but his behavior didn’t fit the friendly Danish way at all! After 30 years of visiting Denmark several times a year, I was shocked by such a harsh and unfriendly attitude! We left the campground and said: “Unfriendly—not a vacation spot or campground for us!” And it’s not just us who’ve had this experience! You can often read about it in the reviews, and attached is a pseudo-philosophical, long-winded, and off-topic explanation from the campground! You really have to think twice about spending your vacation with “people like that”! And the campground manager should perhaps work on how he treats people and potential customers!

"Cute place, super nice operators - The campsite is not necessarily up to date, but the young couple who run it (3 years now) make so much effort to keep everything in good condition and gradually introduce new ideas. Not a day went by without friendly words or nice gestures. And they were meant seriously. In our experience, this place was the one with the most loving, personal service we have ever had. We would love to come back. And not only the campsite, but also the surrounding nature and the village of Sønderho are worthwhile excursion destinations.

"meters small nature campsite - Camping Klitten is the perfect place to forget the stresses of everyday life. The natural campsite is only about 1 km from the beach. The beach can even be accessed by car. The village of Sønderho is one of the oldest villages in Denmark and, in my opinion, one of the most beautiful. Even though the site is a bit outdated, everything is very clean and tidy.
