Adjacent cattle farm. Standard site with a walk of up to 200 meters to the water source. Indoor playground in the basement with steep stairs; very dim and dirty in the corners. Risk of injury at the pool. Lots of flies. Spotty with dirty paws. Staff speeding around in golf carts. No real petting zoo—no entry allowed. The splash area is usually closed off with a padlock on the gate.

The smell of a cattle barn every day due to the cattle farm directly adjacent to the west.
Standard site with a distance of up to 200 meters to the water source. Indoor playground in the basement with steep stairs; very gloomy and dirty in the corners and along the edges; sharp tile edges around the... pool; tiles are very slippery, posing a risk of injury.
Slide by the lake covered in green algae. Plenty of flies—we swatted at least 20 flies that evening and still didn’t catch every one that woke us up in the morning. The water intake point for our site was right next to the chemical toilet disposal area. Despite the “No Entry” sign, some people emptied their graywater tanks there. Of course, you wouldn’t get fresh water from that spot—you don’t want to get sick! My kids fell on the pool deck because of the algae-covered tiles and some of them cut their feet open because unsuitable tiles without a beveled edge had been installed there.
I didn’t receive the booking confirmation until I asked for it. And then it turned out to be wrong! They’d listed one child instead of three, and upon arrival we had to pay a hefty extra fee. So the camping.info club perk was just a bait-and-switch.
Spotty the dog was cute, but his paws were so dirty...
Staff speeding around in golf carts—they definitely don’t stick to the walking speed limit. My little one even ran in front of one. They braked at the last second... The petting zoo is just a “look-only” zoo. The water play area is usually closed off with a padlock on the gate. We’re never going back there.

Well situated. Quiet location at the end of a cul-de-sac. Great cycle paths. Close to Nordhorn and Denekamp. You can cycle for miles along the Almelo - Nodhorn canal through beautiful countryside.
Disadvantage is the lack of cleanliness in the sanitary buildings and swimming pool. Wash cabins are also closed 10 days before closing time.

Beautiful family campsite with its own bathing lake and small sandy beach. There is a shallow beach for small children and a small rubber iceberg at the back of the lake for older children to climb. There is entertainment on the site, mainly in Dutch. There is also a restaurant and a deep-fat fryer. However, this closes at 20:00. For families there are great fields with a central playground. So the little ones always have something to do. Friendships can be made quickly. The access roads are also possible for large teams and can be taken very well. There is a separate bathroom for the little ones, which is new. Tested by our youngest and found to be very good.

For visitors arriving late, the restaurant is the only option, which is difficult even after 8 p.m. with hot food. The campsite really does its best to keep the sanitary facilities clean. Due to the vacations, it was relatively busy and the odd piglet was out and about. Many toilets were not usable during this time. The reason for this was ultimately our fellow campers When it rains, puddles of water form relatively quickly on the site and it is virtually impossible to drive through with a heavy trailer without tining. Although the necessary towing vehicle is available in most cases, it inevitably destroys the lawn.

beautiful place, just over the border
The site is not far from the German border, close to Denekamp and cycle paths and the "Christmas wonderland" of Oosterik.
The pitches are big enough, but unfortunately the water still pools for days after the rain. Bread rolls from 8 am. Sanitary facilities good, but we had the impression that the floors... were not cleaned during our stay. (in the 2nd sanitary building)
The lighting is not available on some fields, so we had to go to the sanitary building in the dark with a flashlight. A flashlight was also an advantage there, as the motion detectors in the washrooms only come on when you have walked through the whole room. (2nd sanitary building)
However, as the price for the pitch was very reasonable, you have to overlook the little things.
Plenty of space for children to play. Staff very friendly. Cycle paths start right outside the door, you can easily cycle to Denekamp, Oldenzaal, Hengelo, Enschede or Nordhorn and Lingen.

It rained so heavily twice that an estimated quarter of the pitch was flooded by 5-10 cm. The following day, two tractors spent the whole day sucking up the water. After drying off, the next campers came to these pitches, which then flooded again.

I drive home before the next rain.
With a caravan, only the awning is messed up, at least you sleep dry.
Unsuitable for tent vacationers.

- many pitches are under water when it rains - Access to the pitch very muddy in rainy weather muddy - Private bathroom was completely cleaned on arrival within 2 minutes, so it was not clean! -No fresh water connection at the comfort pitch with private sanitary facilities - Prices in the restaurant are overpriced.
A great campsite with a lot of potential for improvement
We stayed at this campsite in the fall.
On arrival we were given a friendly welcome at reception and it was no problem to change to a higher-quality pitch with private sanitary facilities.
Arriving on our large pitch in the sunshine, we immediately felt at home.
However, this changed in rainy weather....
The pitch, and not only here, had large puddles where the water lingered for a long time. The access road with a bend to our pitch J32 was rutted and very muddy, which does not do justice to a comfort pitch.

In the beautiful restaurant, with covered terrace and very courteous staff, you could eat very tasty, here the prices were high.
A nice swimming pool, many small and large playgrounds spread over the entire campsite, daily entertainment was offered.

Summary:
Nice campsite with a few construction sites, which the new operator will certainly rectify.

Good location with shortcomings
We stayed at this campsite for 10 days.
The location is very good, from here you can make great trips by bike to the nearby towns (Nordhorn, Lingen, Meppen, Denekamp).
The staff are very friendly.
The place has very good facilities.
In my opinion, much more work needs to be done on the details.
Water... taps splash in all directions, drains in the showers sometimes do not drain properly, the cleanliness in the second wash house (G area) leaves a lot to be desired, of course if it is only cleaned in the morning when fully occupied.
It is also unpleasant that the roof of the swimming pool is not opened at 30 degrees outside temperature because it is defective.

Great with children
We were only there for a few days to test whether this type of camping was for us.
And it was great! Unfortunately the weather didn't always play along, at least there is indoor children's entertainment in the mornings, the rest of the day you have to watch. Of course, the covered swimming pool is also... full on days like this.
But when the summer weather is really good, it's really great.
All the staff were always really friendly and motivated. They help immediately with small problems and everyone always feels responsible.
And the program was great, also well divided into age groups and the entertainers are very popular with all the children - and rightly so : )

Family campsite
A beautiful, clearly laid out site with many different rental properties and quite large pitches. We were there with the WW. Particularly suitable for families. A great playground at the entrance with a large climbing frame and bouncy cushion. There are also lots of individual pieces of play equipment... dotted around the site. There is a small indoor play area, but it quickly becomes overcrowded in bad weather. There is a small swimming pool where the roof can be opened in summer. However, we did not use this or the daily children's entertainment. The beach and the small soccer pitch with artificial turf looked great, definitely a highlight in warmer temperatures.
The sanitary buildings are well maintained. The temperature of the showers cannot be adjusted and the shower jet is very weak. The water was often only lukewarm. This was due to a faulty pump, which is due to be replaced in the next few days. However, comments from other campers suggest that the problem has existed for some time. The fact that you can't adjust the temperature when showering is not really up to date. The staff were friendly, the mini-market had everything you need, including delicious bread rolls. We didn't use the restaurant. It looked inviting, but expensive. You have to want to afford the breakfast buffet at Easter for €27.50 per person... 😉

We were guests as a family 2 + 2 in an 8 person bungalow. The "bedrooms" were extremely small.
No fly screens in front of the windows. No second key. The equipment of the kitchen very very modest.
We paid a lot of money for 10 nights, which is disproportionate to the service.
But what annoys us the... most in retrospect is that we have not yet been refunded the deposit. We have repeatedly phoned and emailed ..... with excuses again and again, very annoying
Our grandchildren liked it.....for us it is out of the question

Many things have changed for the worse

We have been guests of the Wassing family for many years and have always felt very comfortable. Now we have been back as guests on this site for the first time after Corona. We were
very disappointed, as the family flair of the new owners was no longer there and commerce had priority. We still... knew an employee from the previous owner, as he was the one who was always friendly, helpful and competent. That made us very happy and we would like to thank him for that. As we were looking for a pitch for 2 weeks for our camper van and had not booked in advance, we were offered pitches with sanitary blocks at horrendous prices. It was only after we pointed out the ACSI-CARD several times that the reception staff were able to accommodate us with the price. It seemed that they were not particularly interested in guests with ACSI.
There was a lot of unrest. The neighbors' quiet times at night were often not respected, and people partied until after midnight. That didn't happen at Mr. Wassing's. Also, every afternoon, the staff drove an electric car across the entire site with loud booming music to invite children who were not present to the entrance for entertainment.
Unfortunately, we no longer liked it here and will not be returning.

Price performance is not right at all
We were on the site over Ascension Day. We were very disappointed with the price-performance ratio. For 2 adults and 2 children over 60€ a night unfortunately does not fit at all with what is offered on the site. Worst of all are the sanitary facilities. Far too small and above all very dirty. The cleaning... was very poor. The shower system is a disaster (no temperature control possible, far too little water pressure)
-The pitches are very unkempt (loose mown grass lies on the pitch, now unfortunately also in heaps in the caravan....). The
- The animation is only in Dutch, although there are a lot of Germans on site and the Herenze is right next door. Therefore not usable for our children.
Unfortunately, we couldn't understand the 5 stars at all, but that's how various fellow campers with whom we spoke felt.
We will not be coming back

The sanitary blocks were cold and only a little lukewarm water came out of the showers, which is not adjustable.
Bad sanitary buildings, otherwise nice and friendly staff nice
I have no problem paying separately for showers, but here you only get lukewarm water with the guest card. The shower jet is so small that you almost hit your head against the wall to wash your hair. The bigger problem is that you only get one temperature and it's only lukewarm. This is the first campsite... where I have frozen in the shower and afterwards. From the feeling I would say that the rooms are only heated by the sun. That may be enough in midsummer, but not when it's a bit colder. Next time I would only take a pitch with a private bathroom, otherwise no more. Otherwise everything was fine and the staff were also nice.
The few stars are due to the wash houses. This is absolutely not up to date.

Camping De Papillon
A very nice, family-run campsite that leaves nothing to be desired. Despite these difficult times, we always felt safe and welcome.

You can really tell that the operators put their heart and soul into what they do. They have also thought of wheelchair users in every situation.

Great place, we will definitely be back.

We received a very friendly welcome on arrival. We were able to choose our pitch ourselves at our leisure. Very good and informative briefing by the operators. Supermarket really very small, but you can be in Denekamp (Jumbo, Aldi) in 10 minutes by bike. The site is very quiet, very large pitches, everything is wonderful. The sanitary facilities are first class and above all very clean. We will definitely visit this site again.

Very well maintained campsite
My husband, our 2 children (3/6) and I arrived on a Friday. We were given a very friendly welcome. The site was explained to us and, very importantly, where our pitch was. Once we arrived at the pitch, the kids set off and quickly made friends with other children. There is a large lake with a sandy beach,... an indoor swimming pool with a water playground and lots of small and large playgrounds. The sanitary facilities were very clean and tidy. The food in the restaurant is delicious and the service is very friendly. You can just tell that children are very welcome.
