The campground staff has remained friendly and calm for years, even during peak times. It’s important to know that train traffic around the clock disturbs the peace and quiet. Recreational activities include... canoeing on the Werra River; the municipal swimming pool is a 4-foot walk from the campground, and the city center is 15 minutes away. The pitches had already been booked in advance and, to our complete satisfaction, everything went according to our wishes on arrival at the site.
The owner couple were always open to questions and suggestions.
Unfortunately, the weather... was too changeable, so we canceled our planned canoe tour (but will make up for it next time ;) ).
The organized carriage ride and the brewery tour were very interesting and a lot of fun.

Tip for the next time: Single washbasins are located on the right side in the washhouse - 2 cabins showers and 2 cabins single washbasins per gender.

Our pitch was large and close to the wash house as requested.
But the wash house...it was always wet in all three ladies' toilet cubicles. Apparently the toilets were not properly sealed at the bottom. In one toilet the water... ran out into the corridor every day.
It was probably cleaned regularly but as I said, it was always wet.
The showers were ok, although quite old, but clean.
The free W-LAN worked sometimes and sometimes not.
The beer garden is very simple...a hut where the food is prepared, in front of it a gravel place with a tent and tables and benches. Not very cozy, but the burgers and fries were very tasty.

For guests who expect extensive leisure facilities or modern infrastructure, the campsite could be somewhat limited.A place to relax and unwind - a small campsite with charmThe campsite offers excellent value for money.
The pitches are spacious and clean, and the sanitary facilities are thoroughly cleaned every day.
We particularly liked the fact that no shower tokens are required for hot water and the toilets are always very clean.
The operators and all the guests are... friendly and helpful, and the quiet location makes for a relaxing stay.
A particular highlight was the great Easter bonfire and party, which created a wonderful community atmosphere.

Harald B.august 2025PozitivnoBeautifully situated on the Werra, in mid-August still many free spaces on a barely parceled out lawn. From our point of view (pensioners) very quiet place. Bread rolls inexpensive and tasty. Operator and staff very friendly.NegativnoReception and sanitary facilities are getting on in years, but clean.Choosing it as a place to pass through was not a mistakeWe had chosen this site as a stopover for the return journey from the Baltic Sea. There are more conveniently located sites on the A7 / A5, but we like to visit new places. We have not regretted our decision. However, we wouldn't necessarily recommend the site for a longer vacation. If you want to go... canoeing on the Werra, you're in good hands here. To our delight, there was no entertainment, so everything was quiet. We tried the snack bar on the site, currywurst and chips are highly recommended, to our surprise there was also delicious chilled white wine, and this far away from the wine regions at moderate prices. Unfortunately, we were unable to enjoy the burgers we had planned for Sunday as the place was incomprehensibly closed.

This place should never have been opened by the authorities for safety and hygiene reasons. The shortcomings in detail:
- No fire extinguishers on site
- In the event of a fire, there is no water available for use, as there is no water pressure... at either water tap!
- for safety reasons, the barrier must always be open for an exit!
- The dishwashing sink is located directly opposite the toilet disposal point
- Showers are dirty, too few and too small!
- Waste water disposal is crooked and slanted so that the tank cannot be emptied completely!
- On one tree a waste bag holder was screwed directly into the tree!
- the laziness of the operator of the canoe trips is unbeatable ! 70 to 80 year old and older people have to put the boat (weighing approx. 80 kg, maybe even more) in the water themselves and pull it out of the water again after arrival and also carry it upside down on the trailer for € 24 for a 2 hour canoe trip! Owner stands next to it !!!
- No jetty available but only a grid which is very slippery! Other landlords have plastic jetties with a spacious platform! No risk of injury!
- The water withdrawal on the pitch is surrounded by a car tire in which stale and foul-smelling water collects. Disgusting !
- The beer stand and the bratwurst stand are certainly no longer in line with commercial conditions.

There were fresh bread rolls every morning from 8:30am (where the baker still bakes the rolls himself and no machines). The team at the campsite was always polite, warm and helpful. No matter how busy it was, there was... always a friendly chat and smiling faces! Top!!!
There are even tickets for the outdoor pool diagonally opposite for guests from the campsite, where you save €0.50 per ticket. There was even a welcome box for my dog at check-in. The location of the site is wonderful, directly on the Werra with entry/exit options. Witzenhausen is within walking distance. The sanitary facilities are simple but clean. The organization and management of the site could be significantly improved. Would you like to explain the unfriendly opening hours of the office? Monday-Saturday 8:30am-1:00pm... and 3:00pm-7:00pm Sunday 10:00am-1:00pm and 3:00pm-7:00pm. My husband and I cover these times - without employees and with a 4-year-old daughter. Bread roll service is available 7 days a week with baked goods from a baker from Bad-Sooden-Allendorf who still gets up at night and forms the rolls himself. Since the end of June there has been a large skip in the garbage area, which is emptied regularly when called. As you will have noticed, we took over the site this year, it was very well attended and the response was immediate. It is a pity that such things were not addressed in a personal conversation, we were always on site and approachable.
