- Holger M.juli 2025Pozitivnoquiet location, cleanlinessNegativnotreacherous journey, little on offer in the storeQuiet, good starting point for London tripsDO NOT rely on the sat nav and approach the site from the west from the A23 via Dean Lane! This is a single track with passing bays for cars. The campsite has a pdf with directions online, just google "Alderstead" and "directions" - we should have done that too. We used the site for trips to London:... Coulsdon South station, parking lot "Lion Green", parking fee 11 pounds with the app RingGo (the place is well frequented, but we always found something. Walk to the station about 5 min), from 44Pfund/3Pers return to London Bridge (direct,21min) or Victoria Station. Tickets via Trainline app. Shopping on the way back at Tesco in Caterham. There is also a cab shuttle from the campsite.
The site is very quiet and a great place to recover from the stress of the day. There is a playground and an outdoor chess set. Overall, the site is very green and there is plenty of space. There are hiking trails from the campsite. The sanitary facilities are not luxurious, but functional and clean (probably typical for club sites); when we were there, it wasn't full either (it was before the English vacations). We booked a hardstand pitch, for which you need tent pegs. Unfortunately, the water is slightly chlorinated but still drinkable.Automatski prevedeno. - Dirk D.mart 2024Pozitivno- Extra fenced run for dogs. - The site is very green. - There is a chess or checkers board at the front of the campsite. - Sanitary facilities very clean. - Small kiosk at the reception. - Very friendly staff. - Free choice of pitches. - There are also playgrounds for younger guests.Negativno- Little choice of food (no store only kiosk) - No bread rolls (no bakery nearby) - Very narrow roads and poor access with a wide caravan.Base camp for excursions to LondonWe also used the site to travel to London every day. We received a very friendly welcome and everything was explained to us in detail. Arrival is possible from 1 pm.
We opted for a pitch with a gravel surface as we were there over Easter and it still rains a lot at this time of year.
The sanitary buildings... (two) are very clean. However, due to the low number of visitors, only one building was open.
We always drove to Coulsdon South station by car. You can park there for around €10 during the day. The parking lot must be paid for via app. As this didn't work for us, we booked the parking space by phone every day. Once you get the hang of it, this is very quick and easy. Please note that certain parking spaces are only available from 9:30 a.m. as they are reserved for premium parkers.
We booked train tickets via the "trainline" app. You can also get discount tickets there.
Once we arrived at Victoria Station, we either took the Underground or continued on foot.Automatski prevedeno. - D. G.juli 2019Pozitivnobeautifully laid out, quiet site ideal for visits to London clean, new sanitary facilities showers without shower coinsNegativnounfortunately no bread roll service (but it doesn't seem to be common either)Quiet place on the outskirts of LondonA very spacious campsite with well-kept greenery and lots of trees. The two wash houses are clean and in top condition. One was renovated in 2017 and the other in 2019. There are two nice playgrounds for children. The pitches are very spacious, but the positioning is strictly prescribed (distance to... neighbors due to fire protection) Checking in was easy and friendly. If you are an ADAC member you get a discount and thus save exactly the fee for "non-members". The barrier is opened with a card (closed from 11-7 p.m.) For a visit to London, we recommend taking the train from Coulsdon South station (approx. 4 miles from the CP) to Victoria Station in 30 minutes. Many people take the option of taking a cab to the station. We drove there by car and parked in a parking lot a few minutes' walk from the station for the whole day for around 6 pounds. However, you have to be patient because you're not the only one ;) The train ticket cost us 52.40 pounds for 4 people and is also valid for all means of transport in London. IMPORTANT! Read the directions carefully! The satnav takes you along a very, very narrow road that is absolutely not suitable for caravans and motorhomes.Automatski prevedeno.
