You book a category and look for a free space on arrival. You can be lucky, as we were, or unlucky. Some pitches are extremely narrow, uneven and difficult to navigate due to the trees. We arrived after a heavy storm and unfortunately the staff didn't do anything to fill up the washed-out pitches with gravel or earth, and reserving a permanent pitch in advance costs a whopping €120 extra and is quite inconvenient. The bathing ladders should be serviced again, some were slippery or completely crooked. We also didn't like the many dogs on the site, some guests came with 2-3 dogs, some of which were running around freely. Unfortunately, the campsite operator did not pay any attention to tidiness. A large Rottweiler shook out his fur at our dinner table after coming out of the water, with no sign of the owner, which we found completely unacceptable. Some of the dog excrement on the beach meadow, the trees and walls were regularly bitten by dogs. Katrin S.Ağustos 2025Olumlu yanlarıNice beach access, also very suitable for children. Bakery has lots of choice at normal prices. Proximity to the town of Vrsar is great, about 10 minutes on foot. Vrsar is an excellent place to eat out. We also did a boat tour there (sunset dolphin tour with Marco) and actually saw some dolphins swimming right by the boat, which was fantastic.Olumsuz yanlarıSanitary 1 is relatively new, but with only 6 showers for several hundred women and 6 showers for just as many men, it is simply far too small and therefore there are long queues every day, and therefore also very dirty. Pitches are allocated at random, why you have to indicate the size of the caravan is a mystery to me. The pitches we were offered were either far too small for our caravan or not accessible at all, as they were very steep... The only good thing is that if you leave early you get a refund for the days you have already booked and paid for. A scoop of ice cream for 2.50 € is not possible, everything is very expensive there, e.g. a bottle of Aperol costs almost 25 €. The pizza in the pizzeria on the campsite is almost impossible to eat, it was more than soggy and consisted almost exclusively of cheese...Camping Porto Sole Vrsar/IstriaWe won't be back. Sanitary 1 always dirty, as 6 showers are not enough for many hundreds of people and therefore there are long queues every day. In the two weeks of our stay, out of 6 showers, the door didn't close in one of them and in another shower the holder for the shower head was broken. Nothing... was repaired in the two weeks. The pitches are not maintained. When we arrived the grass on our pitch was already high and when we left it was very high. The allocation of pitches is a mystery to me, despite the fact that you have to state the length of the caravan, you are only offered tiny pitches. We didn't like it, on the one hand the place is far too expensive for what is on offer, on the other hand it's not nice for snorkeling either. There is no beautiful underwater world and therefore nothing to see...
We had a much better experience at Sveta Marina and Aminess Maravea, for example. During our stay it was actually quite quiet, except for the last few days, when we got some Slovenian neighbors (several caravans together), who sat together for a long time in the evening/night. Furthermore, I personally will only consider campsites without dogs, because here some dogs were not on a lead, which in my opinion is not acceptable at all. And all the dog excrement and urine on every corner and the barking simply bothered us. On our last few visits, despite booking early, we kept having problems, starting with the fact that there weren't enough power points for the pitches. The allocation of pitches seems to... be completely arbitrary and the categories are simply overbooked. The highlight of our last visit in May 2025 was the statement from the good woman at reception: "I know that your motorhome won't fit on the allocated pitch, there's nothing else available in the category, not your problem. I could book a permanent pitch for an extra 120 euros. As we had already booked for September, we wanted to do this, but the pitches that were free according to reception were already allocated at the booking center, absolute chaos. So we canceled both stays. Incidentally, I wasn't the only one with this problem, there were 3 families at reception and they all had similar problems. For us, this is a place we will avoid in future, although we always enjoyed staying there. Unfortunately there was also dog excrement on our pitch. This spoiled the overall positive impression. The pitches are all different but big enough for a normal caravan or motorhome. Sanitary TOP and always clean. If it's not the case, it's down to the guests and not the cleaning fairies. This campsite does not have a pool as the pictures and description suggest. There is indeed a pool, the use of which is tolerated, but by a different operator. This operator charges €6 per sun lounger and you also have to pay extra for an umbrella. When we expressed our horror at this, the campsite said there was nothing they could do, the pool was not part of the campsite. What a cheek! The list of complaints is endless. We booked with two other families. We were assured in advance that we could stay together, but nobody knew anything about it when we arrived. We called three times in advance. We would have had to pay an extra €100 per booking. More than two adjacent pitches were then no longer possible, as the third adjacent pitch was supposedly rented to another family for an extra €200. When we asked the family, they knew nothing about it. Here you get ripped off from start to finish. The wash houses are outdated, impractical, dirty and overcrowded. You have to queue to take a shower or wash the dishes. Our conclusion: Never, never again!!!Total rip-off, never again!!!See disadvantages, the list is very long.

The campsite's own infrastructure (market, restaurant, pool) was already closed. But since you can walk to Vrsar in 10 minutes, that wasn't a problem. Despite the proximity, you can't hear anything from Vrsar in the evening/night. The sanitary facilities were always clean as there was always staff present. Both bays are nice for swimming. Unfortunately not this time. I reserved and paid for a specific pitch some time beforehand. When we arrived, we were told that we couldn't get this pitch for a deposit of 120 euros. So we were given a sunny... pitch without any shade! But as we have a tent trailer and a dog, this was out of the question at 34°C during the day!
Now we looked for another place in the back with shade, a nice place, but much too far away from the toilets and water, if the bladder pressed you had to walk 500 meters at night and back.
The pitch I had reserved stood empty for the next few days - I wondered what that was all about! Of the 120Euro deposit only 100Euro were charged. 20 euros of this was for booking fees...for a place that we didn't get, but which then stood empty for days.

Very stony and slippery entrance to the water.Very good CP with friendly service staffWe, a retired couple, had a very nice vacation with the caravan on this campsite. The cleaning staff were very diligent and kept everything very clean.
The reception staff were competent and very friendly.
The hard clay ground requires sturdy pegs. We used the "T-pegs".
Outside the high season you can... save yourself the very high reservation fee of 100 euros.
The clean pool is a substitute for swimming in the sea.

Great place by the sea, with everything you need, clean sanitary facilities, absolutely great, especially those at the dive center. Dive center nice and German-speaking. Nice beach bar (not cheap). Pitches partly terraced, mostly easy to reach and big enough for large caravans,... but often very uneven.
Restaurant, snack bar, fairly large store, bakery and vegetable stall (quite expensive, but fresh) on site. Suitable for dogs.
Reservation fees quite high, the whole PortoSole Maistra construct is more of a leisure industry than a tranquil campsite.
For us, however, the advantages still outweigh the disadvantages.
You can reach Vrsar quickly on foot and you can explore a lot from Novigrad to Pula by car

Mobile home superior, clean, functional. Very cozy location, enough space and distance to the other homes. Very friendly staff, everything always clean.
