"Quiet and relaxed weekend - The campsite is located in the middle of a wooded area on the edge of the village of Gasselte. This makes it very quiet, at least in the low season. However, we were told by a member of staff that the site is very popular in spring and summer. The pitches are generously sized, very well maintained and beautifully laid out. There is a huge unfenced sandpit, a water playground, swimming and fishing pond. Absolutely a beautiful campsite for families. We were guests on the site from 10 - 13.10.2025. At this time only the 6 pitches with private sanitary facilities can be booked. This season 2025/2026 for the first time. Among other things, the private sanitary facilities have a built-in dishwasher. Everything is new and very well maintained. As the sanitary building was already closed and we didn't eat in the restaurant, I can't give an assessment. The site is ideal as a base camp for exploring the surrounding leisure facilities.

Campsite Het Horstmannsbos is located in a beautiful forest and heathland area in the northeast of Drenthe. This nature campsite offers large shaded pitches along the forest edge as well as spacious pitches on sunny camping fields. Het Horstmannsbos is …a true family campsite with extensive facilities for families with children. Nature Campsite There are one hundred touring pitches and fifty permanent seasonal pitches spread across twelve camping areas, all named after birds. Choose a sunny pitch on one of the open camping fields surrounded by greenery. Or opt for more privacy and shelter on a pitch separated by hedges. Do you enjoy simple back-to-basic camping with a tent? Then choose a pitch in the forest at the rear of the campsite. There you can truly camp in nature on a spacious pitch among the trees or around one of the sandy dune areas. Family Holiday Campsite Het Horstmannsbos offers extensive facilities for a comfortable camping holiday with the whole family. The campsite is car-free, allowing children to play safely. Next to the restaurant is a lovely playground with play equipment, trampolines, and bouncy castles. A water playground is located on the sandy dune area. During the high season, an entertainment team is present for several weeks to organize activities for children and adults. Everything Nearby If you want to eat out, you do not have to go far. The campsite restaurant offers a small menu. Snacks and takeaway meals are also available. In the nearby village of Gasselte, you will find additional restaurants. Fresh bread is available at the campsite. Het Horstmannsbos does not have a campsite shop, so groceries need to be purchased elsewhere, but there are plenty of shopping options in the surrounding area.
