"First and probably last visit - Overall rating: ★☆☆☆☆ (1 out of 5 stars) Modern online management system Booking, electricity packages and organizational processes can be handled entirely via the website and work flawlessly. This digital approach is up-to-date and significantly better than many other sites. Condition of the facility is very questionable, outdated, unkempt, in need of repair (see photos). The electricity prices are above average. In combination with the unfriendly tone when making additional purchases, we felt that the price-performance ratio was inappropriate. The staff are very, very unfriendly: When visiting an American family, we were directly told about fees without being greeted. A question about visitor guest cards was answered very curtly and rudely. When we tried to buy more electricity, we were rudely referred to the online processing - without any helpfulness or explanation. We had deliberately booked a pitch on the lake side to enjoy the view. Unfortunately, we had to realize: The lake is not visible from the campsite - the view is completely blocked by hedges, fences and overgrowth. Access to the lake is via a separate locked gate that can only be opened with a chip. According to the operator, swimming is not possible due to alleged blue-green algae. This eliminates one of the main arguments that many campers expect when booking a "lakeside pitch". Conclusion The campsite at Steinrodsee does have a modern, well-functioning online booking system - which is a real plus point. However, the negative impressions are outweighed by the condition of the site, the tone of the staff, the lack of a view of the lake and the considerable noise pollution caused by air traffic.

"Loud and unfriendly - The first contact was very unfriendly from the tenant. Seems to be very under ... to be! We then drove a little further. The location is on a highway! Who is already longer on the road and very tired hears the highway noise probably not so much.

"Acceptable - On the whole a cozy campsite. Disadvantage: lake that you can't use. Stayed there with tent and car for 6 nights.

"Campsite not to be recommended! - After 40 years of camping experience, this is the worst campsite we have ever seen. We booked and paid for the pitch online 2 hours in advance. Only caravans over 6.50 m were allowed. Before we drove through the barrier on arrival, we could already see from the path that the pitch we had booked was too small for our large 9 m long and 2.50 m wide caravan. We then went to the "wooden booth", which was supposed to be the reception desk, and asked to be able to choose another pitch, as there were still 20 pitches available at the time! That didn't suit her at all and she got stroppy. We then left again, even though we had paid for the night. We do not value an unobjective response from the operator. As with all other negative reviews, it is always the campers who are in the wrong and allegedly misrepresent the situation. Dear campers, even if you are only passing through for one night, like us, keep your hands off this totally outdated, unkempt campsite, which is difficult to access with a large caravan, is noisy and has an unspeakably unfriendly operator. Here you simply get the impression that someone wants to enrich themselves for little work and service. I don't want to know what the sanitary buildings look like, but there have already been negative reports about that too.
