"Surprise find - We were actually just passing through and needed a stopover. Most of our neighbors probably had a similar intention, many only stayed one night on their way south. The campsite has the standard facilities - new, clean sanitary facilities (albeit without toilet paper and toilet seats), a small pool for splashing around. We loved the large, shady grass pitches - ideal if you have small toddlers with you. Generous access roads, maneuvering is no problem here. We also found the small town surprisingly nice, the center of which is about a 15-20 minute walk. There is an amazingly large market (considering how small the place is) where you can get everything from fruit and vegetables to quiche and oysters. We would love to come back.

"Quite a decent municipal campsite - We had to look for the place in St. Jean de Angely first, because the signs weren't ideal. Our satnav said the road didn't exist. We finally found the site by chance near the hospital, where there is a small canal (river?) and a lake where many anglers were sitting. The campsite had flat grassy terrain under tall old trees that provided plenty of shade. A great advantage in the heat. But there are also sunbathing areas. There is also a pool for visitors to enjoy. The sanitary building was clean and there were enough shower cubicles available in June (i.e. outside the high season). The supervisor was friendly and warned us of a heavy thunderstorm, for example. It is a municipal campsite and the prices were moderate. Internet connections are offered, but we didn't make use of them, so I can't say anything about them.

Profil

The popular Camping Val de Boutonne is located within walking distance of the historic town of St-Jean d’Angély. The site is well-maintained and peacefully situated in a lovely park on the riverbank, near a recreational lake. The pitches are between …80 and 100 m² in size, set along small paths and shaded by deciduous trees. You can choose between marked or open pitches. Many travelers stop here for a night and often end up staying longer because of the beautiful setting. Swimming and Shopping There is a swimming pool (12 x 7 meters) and a paddling pool for small children, where you can relax on the sunbathing lawn. A lifeguard ensures safety and enforces French hygiene regulations. You can buy essential groceries on site and order fresh bread for the next morning. Active Holidays The campsite offers bike, canoe, kayak, and rowboat rentals, allowing you to enjoy both the lake and the surrounding area. It’s located along a cycle route, and the lake is popular with anglers and paddlers. At the lakefront restaurant, you can relax with a glass of wine while watching the sunset. Fireworks and wine tastings are regularly organized here. Great Base for Day Trips The campsite is just 3 km from the A10 motorway and close to the historic town of St-Jean d’Angély. Within an hour’s drive, you’ll reach the popular Charentes region, full of charming villages and historic sites. The town center of St-Jean d’Angély, built around an abbey, is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site – and it’s just a 10-minute walk from the campsite.
