"A place for one night - The Camping Municipal in Aurillac is quite centrally located and is a good starting point if you want to visit this beautiful Massif-Central town. There is a large inner-city parking lot with low-hanging trees, which can serve as an alternative for motorhomes - but as it is very noisy there (located directly on the main roads of the town) and extremely hectic and you can quickly drive a dent into your mobile due to low-hanging branches and the general narrowness, I would strongly advise against it. There is now a lot more space at the campsite mentioned here, although the trees here and there urgently need to be cut back - you could hear a lot of scraping and grinding from the camper van roof on the way to the pitch. You can choose the latter, there is not much going on even in the high season, so there is plenty of space with working electricity and a sufficient number of water taps. The pitches are located towards the back by a small stream, which makes it quite cozy. However, the site is very spacious, the sanitary building is located directly behind the reception (and this is next to the barrier / access road), so that you have to take a walk or two to wash up and rinse if you have settled in the nicer rear part. However, the sanitary facilities defy description - even I, who have been traveling in France for over thirty years, rarely formulate such an assessment. An attempt has been made to modernize here and there with tiles and the like, but this has completely backfired and looks almost worse than before. For example, you have to shower on a painted bare concrete floor, at the end of the cubicle the water runs off into an open channel and makes its way through the other cubicles. The facilities look very dingy, neglected and run-down, some of them have broken windows and the high ceilings are covered in dirt and cobwebs. There is hot and cold running water, but that's about it. Although extremely tolerant, I didn't brush my teeth here and did it in the mobile. Nevertheless, the reception is very friendly and courteous, and the price is very reasonable. There is no infrastructure at all - no bread service, no bar, nothing. However, there is a small "U" about 300 meters from the campsite where you can get delicious Pain Tradi (and everything else for your daily needs). For a night in Aurillac and a tour of the town, the site is the emergency nail, as otherwise it is full and there is nowhere to stay even with a motorhome (there is a lot going on here). Otherwise, it is enough to have been to this site once in your life. Side note: the gigantic trees there become a (sometimes life-threatening) threat in the event of storms, which are not exactly rare here in the massif central at the height of summer. We were also hit by one that night in July 2015, and although the place looked scary the next morning, the Lord himself spared the mobile. I've attached a photo - we only narrowly escaped immense damage back then.
