Quietly located campground, 2.5 km from Oberstdorf
The campground is located just outside Oberstdorf, in a quiet area, with a bus stop not far away. You can bike along the river into town. The staff at the front desk were friendly, and we received all the information we needed. The campsites for trailers or RVs are paved with grass pavers, with a strip... of stones in front so you can step into your RV without getting your feet dirty. In addition, each site has a grassy area. Thanks to this layout, every camper faces the same direction. The restroom facilities were clean at all times and plentiful, despite the many tent campers still set up on a small meadow. There’s a bread delivery service and a small store. Wi-Fi worked consistently. You can go on bike rides right from the campground; the path along the Iller River to Sonthofen is especially nice. The Nebelhornbahn is just a 2.5 km bike ride away. We also took advantage of the included mountain railway ticket.

Top base camp for mountain hikes
We liked the problem-free late arrival (6pm-10pm), the always clean, modern sanitary facilities, the friendly and helpful staff, the bread roll service, and the large, partially paved pitches (electricity and water at every pitch).

The location of the site is beautiful, with a view of the mountains,... and quiet on the outskirts of the town.

The many dogs on the site were tolerable, although I don't like them, but their owners were responsible and didn't leave any piles behind.

In terms of price, just under €120 per night for 4 people (including tourist tax, children aged 14 and over pay full price) is expensive at first, but if you use the cable cars and buses included in the price, you'll recoup the costs with just one cable car ride per day.

There is a bus stop directly opposite the campsite, but unfortunately the number 45 bus only goes there once an hour.

It was our first time in Oberstdorf and we were delighted with the place and the campsite. Pitching on the pitches is indeed highly regulated (criticism from other campers), but you have perfect, level pitches with an immaculate lawn. We wouldn't have pitched differently even without the regulations. If you use the cable car tickets, the campsite is good value for money.
We'll definitely be back again.

You don't feel like a guest but like a cash cow. The place does not correspond to free camping as on others but is regulated. You have to accept dogs but welcome......?

Wonderful recovery
We are about 40 years old and our son is almost 9 years old. We have been here twice and were again very satisfied. Our son immediately found other children to play with! There is no animation here but you don't need that here either! We like that it is very clean and quiet here and you can sleep really... well at night! The team is very friendly, even in the bistro! The food there was always excellent and well worth a visit! Clean sanitary facilities are very important to us and there's nothing to complain about here! The washing-up area was also always clean and other campers were very considerate! We also think the location is great! For those who don't want to buy bread rolls in the morning, you can also buy them directly on site, they taste delicious :-)!
We will definitely be back and are really looking forward to it. Unfortunately we didn't manage to use the sauna, but next time we will!

Very nice campsite
Very nice and well-kept campsite. Located directly on the Trettach with a great view of the mountains. Very warm and courteous owners. The restaurant is open three days a week and offers a small menu with fresh and changing dishes for every taste. We can highly recommend the campsite and would love to come back.

Actually none. The immediate surroundings of the sauna barrel could be made a little nicer, but it's not a wellness campsite....
Beautiful place in a top location and countless possibilities for leisure activities
The many negative reviews have prompted me to write a review myself... of course I understand that everyone wants to pitch their awning & it's annoying if it doesn't quite fit on the paved area, but all the other things I absolutely can't understand... We had a 4m caravan & so our awning fitted & we'll... be visiting the site again this year with our van. And due to the regulations for pitching, the site has very nice well-kept lawns & not huge muddy areas like other sites. The sanitary facilities were spotlessly clean at all times, with the code at least no external people go to the toilet and... all the staff at reception were super friendly & helpful. I can't understand the points of criticism. Furthermore... yes, if you only stay 2 nights, there are cheaper or more luxurious places, but people - it's Oberstdorf. The hotels there are also more expensive than in the middle of nowhere and if all the cable cars up to Kleinwalsertal are included from 7 nights (after all, the operator doesn't get them for free either), then value for money is absolutely given. You have soooo many possibilities for hiking, biking and much more, Oberstdorf has many nice stores, many restaurants etc., great destinations in the immediate vicinity and you can therefore spend a great vacation with Rubicamp 👍!

In the morning we were greeted in a very unfriendly manner and had to pay the full price for the pitch. 41,50 €! Crass. After all, we could theoretically have used the sanitary facilities. Incidentally, they are protected by a pin code, which is given to you when you register.

You can spend a few days here without hesitation. Still quite busy in October, but despite Corona there is always a toilet or shower free.
I can't understand the sometimes rather petty complaints of some commentators here. I think they were trying to find a fly in the ointment. They were always friendly... to us. Showers were warm, water pressure could be higher, but to call it a trickle is ridiculous. Visually, the place is also nicer than the other one next door.
Bread rolls very tasty.

Beautiful place!
This was our first visit to the Rubi camp and I had my fears due to some very critical reviews regarding the friendliness of the campsite operators, but I suppose it's a case of calling a spade a spade.
Yes, we had made a reservation for a week and also paid the required deposit in advance, according... to the operator's rules, but this is already stated in the reservation conditions. If you don't want that, then don't come here.
We received a very friendly welcome on arrival and an even friendlier farewell on departure. When we occupied our pitch, we were more than pleasantly surprised. How often do you have to put up with a surface that has been "rocked" by previous guests on other pitches? Not so here: lush green grass. It was wonderful to be able to walk barefoot on the grass. You can only do this if guests follow the rules set by Rubi-Camp and if it is mowed regularly.
The site has everything you need. Clean sanitary facilities, a good bread roll dealer (the rolls were very tasty) and a fantastic view of the mountains.
As for the friendliness of the staff, I can only say that the manager was always available for a chat and went out of her way when we asked for an extension. At first there was no regular pitch available, so we had to stand on the meadow, but then she rebooked us onto one of the very comfortable pitches (grass pavers for the vehicle and paving in front of the vehicle) without us having to do anything (presumably someone jumped off at short notice). I thought that was more than thoughtful. I was definitely very pleased. Especially as the weather forecast for the area was excellent.
The bistro offers hot meals two days a week in the evening and the food was simply delicious. Our stay here was perfect all round. Thanks to the Zeller family and their staff.

A great, clean campsite. The structure of the pitches with grass paving stones, paved awning area and lawn means that everything looks very tidy and doesn't get muddy even when it rains.

The sanitary areas were very tidy. The corona conditions were well implemented and were also easy for everyone to... understand.

The children's bathtub - which is available for both men and women - was wonderful. Our 1-year-old son also loves taking a shower. A family bath would have been ideal here so that we could have looked after him together.

The well-kept lawn must of course be mowed. This is also done every day - at least whenever someone leaves. It's not anyone's fault that our son takes his morning nap when the neighbor's property needs mowing...

The site is ideal as a starting point for hikes or bike tours. The proximity to parking lots P1 and P2 is also an advantage. From here you can easily take the local bus to Oberstdorf.

On our winter trip through the Allgäu and Tyrol, we liked the Rubicamp the best. At first we were concerned about the negative reviews. I don't understand these "complainers". How did they behave to not get along with the lady at reception?
We were greeted in a very friendly manner with our dog and we... had no problems with anyone the whole time. All the staff were always friendly and helpful.
The site is very well maintained. The pitch is paved with grass pavers for the vehicle. There is a paved strip next to it. So you can get into your vehicle clean even in mud and snow. Next to it is a piece of green meadow, which was still green now because the owner makes sure that no foil is laid out there. We'll be back in the fall because we can be sure that we'll find grass and not just dirt like on many other pitches.
The sanitary building was also always clean and well maintained.
There are lots of hiking opportunities all around. The paths were easy to walk on, even with snow, because the flattened snow was roughened every morning.
