Thanks to its great location, the restaurant could certainly bring in more business if it offered a wider variety of dishes.
Unfortunately, the... reports about wild goose droppings are true—some of the campsites are very dirty. Something definitely needs to change there. Geese are also very common where we live by the lake, but since we started replacing the eggs during incubation, the problems have really improved.

The public restrooms, as well as the shower and washrooms, are very clean.
Kudos to the staff.
The only downside: breakfast is served from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Unfortunately, there’s no “early bird... coffee,” and they didn’t sell instant coffee in the bistro. The wine barrels come equipped with a kettle and various types of tea. Why not instant coffee?
But the fantastic service team I mentioned earlier opened the door half an hour before breakfast time 👍.

The textile sauna costs €20 for an hour. It was quite expensive and set way too hot—over 90 degrees. The receptionist seemed to be having a rough couple of days. He came across as very grumpy and stern. The lady who came on duty later,... however, was very friendly. The campground is poorly designed. The barrel was nice and cozy. A lovely and unique overnight stay in a barrel
We had a truly wonderful overnight stay in a barrel at the KNAUS campground. The barrel is cozy, clean, and tastefully decorated—a nice change of pace for two nights and definitely a wonderful experience.
We also really liked the campground. The... atmosphere was pleasant and relaxed, and the location is perfect for spending a few lovely days along the Moselle.
We especially appreciated the laid-back and friendly atmosphere on-site. We felt completely at home and would come back anytime.

Walk-ins are welcome. The on-site staff is friendly. The bread roll service and reception are available starting at 9:00 a.m. There is a panoramic sauna. A wine bar serving delicious snacks is located on the grounds, and wine tastings are offered. The restrooms are clean.... Unfortunately, those on the upper floor are accessible only via an outdoor staircase. Most campsites are grassy and are often frequented by geese. Electricity is available at the campsites. Water and waste disposal facilities are easily accessible. Several drinking water faucets are distributed throughout the campground. There are also opportunities to enjoy water sports from the campground. A boat dock is available. The campground is located directly on the Moselle River, in the valley. The town of Burgen is a small, sleepy town without many shopping options but with hidden, picturesque spots. The woman at the front desk was very friendly and explained everything to us. This was our second time staying in the barrel. The restrooms and washroom were clean. Unfortunately, in the evening, the light attracted a lot of flying ants to the washroom and restrooms. But by the next morning, everything was back to normal. The weather was perfect, so we were able to enjoy the little spot in front of the wine barrel with a view of the Moselle and a bottle of wine. The barrel and the restrooms were clean. The staff was very friendly. Breakfast in the morning was okay; personally, I would have... preferred a slice of fresh bread to the white pre-baked rolls—and maybe a boiled egg on the side. When I arrived at the campground, I went straight to the front desk to check in. The employee was working on the computer and didn’t pay any attention to me at first. Another employee was standing next to him and didn’t say... anything either. After quite a while, the employee at the computer said, “Just a moment, please—I have a problem.” After he resolved it, he turned to me. I introduced myself and said that I had booked a spot on the Moselle. His response: “The computer has determined that spot 32 is a riverside spot and has reserved it for me, so I’ll have to take it now.” Glancing at the map he gave me, I said, “But that’s not a riverside spot,” to which he replied that it was. The spot wasn’t on the Moselle but at the end of a harbor basin that tapered off there—so there was no water depth. I wanted to go fishing on vacation. While walking my dog, I saw several vacant riverbank spots along the Moselle, but they weren’t offered to me. So I’ll never vacation there again. The sites aren’t marked off into individual plots, but there’s plenty of space for a tent, trailer, or RV. Overall, though, the campground gives off a somewhat “neglected” impression. Some paths and... waiting areas are unpaved. Since many campers don’t stick to walking speed, it gets quite dusty at times. There is a bistro, but it’s only suitable for a quick bite. They could do more with it. The RV service station was top-notch. The sauna was closed.
Overall, I’m not sure how the 4-star rating is justified: the restrooms are outdated. No fresh water hookup at the site, and the parking... spot was dirty. It was extremely noisy due to inconsiderate long-term campers who kept making a racket well into the night. The railroad tracks across the way also cause a lot of noise. In comparison, other sites offer more comfort for €39/night. The site was noticeably empty for a weekend, which made us suspicious from the start.
