We were very disappointed with the condition of the site and the fact that there was no way to go swimming right from the campground (especially with temperatures at 40° C). And all that for 98 € for two days without electricity.

Close to the beach, campground is poorly maintained
One positive aspect was the fairly clean restroom facilities. Unfortunately, the site is now managed solely by Campground North, where registration is also handled. There, you receive a key card that’s supposed to grant access to Campground South, as well as to the small gate around the site leading... to the swimming lake. Unfortunately, the tourist camping cards don’t work. A friendly long-term camper opened the gate for us, but he was also annoyed because we weren’t the first ones to ask for this favor. On the way back, we had to take a detour through the woods. You can save yourself the trouble of getting the key cards. The campground itself is very unkempt, with weeds growing everywhere. The sites probably hadn’t been mowed in quite a while, though that wasn’t too bothersome. Unfortunately, even the great nude area was full of duck and goose droppings. We love nature, but swimming in a “poultry toilet” was really pushing it. This was our third time there because we’d been satisfied on our first two visits. Unfortunately, that’s no longer the case.

Cleanliness and Fort Knox
The campsite is secured like Fort Knox. You can only arrive or depart at times when the reception is open. The entire campsite is surrounded by 2 meter high fences and there is only one entrance, so visitors are not allowed. It is also not allowed to park on the site, the car is parked in a dark and... unguarded parking lot next door. The Nile geese leave their droppings everywhere and there is plenty of it, which is not removed. The bread rolls on offer here are not recommended. The special-purpose association is part of the municipal facility and you can tell, the rules alone would fill a book. There is certainly no freedom when camping here.

We didn't like that
Well suited for a short visit to the region, as long as you don't set great store by service and comfort. We found the atmosphere to be off-putting and the reception staff to be unresponsive and unfriendly. It was not possible to arrive after 6 pm due to the traffic situation and no flexible solution... was offered (e.g. electricity connection in front of the reception, indication that access to the sanitary facilities is possible or similar). We were not informed about the possibility of ordering bread rolls and only noticed this by chance. We definitely didn't feel welcome.
The place is simple, the sanitary facilities are substandard and unkempt, e.g. the toilet paper ran out and there were no paper towels in the towel dispenser for days. The sink made an improvised impression and was dirty.
We can only report positive things about the pitch. It was right on the lake and offered a beautiful view.

Disappointing
For a place of this size, one cleaning a day of the sanitary facilities is simply too little, the actual pitch on the south side can only be reached via a narrow path. driving skills should be available. The sanitary facilities are a disaster for my taste, not acceptable for the price of 35€ p.t. in the low season. Freeway and train traffic within earshot.

I wanted to spend a few days there with my 8 year old son to bridge the summer vacation.
I was totally disappointed.
After one day we had to change pitches, as it was almost impossible to find our way around due to broken signs placed in the corner.
Not to mention the size of the pitch, which is on a... par with a campsite.
The wash houses are in the same condition as they were decades ago. Fossils from that time hang from the ceiling.
Any access to the lake is skillfully prevented, whether with SUB, or for fishing, etc., although permits are offered.
The staff cannot answer the simplest questions.
Prices at the lakeside restaurant, galactic, bockwurst with bread, €10, currywurst, €18, perfect for families.

We have been with you on the pitch since yesterday and I must say we are deeply disappointed.

We have a pitch by the water where you can only guess that there is water. Since today there is someone standing next to us and you feel like a fish in a can. From our awning we can now see a hedge or a camper... van, but to charge even more for this is outrageous.
Perhaps they should consider no longer offering tourists and instead focus on permanent campers who, in my opinion, think they are better than us and think they have the right to regulate tourists.

It's just a shame for dogs, they can't get into the water because everything is made inaccessible by fences or hedges.
Let's not start with the state of the sanitary facilities and cleanliness, there are already enough reviews on the net.

So I have to say I think it's a real shame that a property like this is run and operated like this.

Very nice weekend
We stayed at the site for a weekend with 2 motorhomes. The weather was great. Very nice place. Unfortunately the beach access was closed from the campsite so you had to go around. We didn't do that. Too bad. Does this have anything to do with Corona? If so, an info would not be bad. There was an ice... cream van in front of the entrance. Very tasty ice cream! Access to the square only with chip bracelet. Makes sense. We felt comfortable and will definitely be back.
There is a mini golf course next to the campsite, a sailing school, restaurants and lots of nature nearby.

Campsite South
I recently camped at Unterbacher See on the Campingpltz Süd. According to the flyer, south is only for festival campers and dogs are also prohibited. However, I was accommodated with my tent on the south side of the lake. The first thing I came across on the site was a dog with a man on a lead. The sanitary... buildings are a bit outdated. The sanitary building at the entrance only has cold water at the washbasins. There are probably no showers in the rear sanitary building and if there were, the doors were locked during my stay. On the whole, a very beautifully situated campsite which is unfortunately not maintained and cared for by its operator. Unfortunately, this also applies to the paths and green areas, and unfortunately you can also hear the nearby highway very strongly.

I have never seen more unkempt sanitary facilities. The sanitary cotainer stinks of urine and is totally outdated. An absolute impertinence to offer something like this. The cleaning staff come in the morning to clean and in the afternoon only toilet paper is refilled no matter what the sanitary facilities look like. Absolutely disgusting.

Overnight stay for SwimRun Urban Challenge
We went for the SwimRun Urban Challenge at Unterbacher See and the campsite was absolutely ideal as a place to stay overnight. The route practically went past it. The staff were friendly and helpful, the tourist pitch was okay for one night. The sanitary facilities were dated but really clean. The direct location on the lake with the sandy beaches was really nice.

Due to the nearby road, the front part is a bit noisy at times.
Rarely in such good hands
Very friendly and polite staff at the registration desk, including the groundsman. The sanitary buildings were spacious, clean and free of charge. The forest next to it is an ideal complement to the lake. The Eller S-Bahn station is about 2.5 kilometers away and easy to reach through the forest. All in all, the site is highly recommended.

Great location, we felt at home
The place is characterized by permanent campers-as so often in Germany. Tourist pitches are close to the entrance - I found that good, just easy arrival and departure. car-free place! The site warden is a typical Rhinelander, gruff but cordial. There is a private access to the beautiful lido, playground,... everything there. The sanitary facilities in the front part of the site are really old, but functionally furnished and as clean as it is possible at that age. The surrounding area has a lot to offer tourists - if you get bored here, it's your own fault. The only real complaint I have is the restaurant next door, overpriced for really poor quality with unfriendly staff. But hey, you can eat somewhere else! We will be back 100%!
