There are terraces with a view of the water (which were pretty much fully booked and, as a result, quite crowded) and others without a view of the water, such as those on a small hill. It was less crowded there. Hardly any... long-term campers. The historic steamboat stops right at the campground.
Well-suited for all kinds of water sports (there are also guest moorings for boats), hiking, biking (though somewhat hilly), mountain biking, swimming (one of the cleanest lakes in Denmark is 1.5 km away), and relaxing.
The large campground and the adjacent school camp hosted youth groups, which brought with them the usual hustle and bustle. M B.Iulie 2026PlusuriThis campground is idyllically located right on Brassø/Borre Sø (lake) in the middle of the forest. You can rent canoes or SUPs for a reasonable price and explore both lakes (“go right down” takes you directly to the larger lake, Julsø). Swimming is also possible. The site isn’t flat but terraced and slopes down toward the lake. The atmosphere at the campground is great, and the staff is helpful, friendly, and nice. The food is good—we didn’t try the famous pizza, but we saw it: Wow, it looks really good!! It’s great for hiking and biking, though it can get tiring since the landscape is very similar to that of Mecklenburg Switzerland! The (ridiculously expensive) rolls we ordered were the best we’ve ever ordered and eaten at a campgroundMinusuri- The prices are a bit steep in some cases, but given the location and high taxes, it’s understandable. - The restroom facilities are inadequate and are almost always very dirty. The layout is also the strangest we’ve ever encountered at a campground—the toilets and showers are usually in the same room. This means that guests who are just using the restroom—or vice versa—end up blocking this space for those who want to shower! - The sites for trailers and RVs are small, sometimes located right next to the trash disposal area, which is, however, very well organized in terms of space.A beautifully situated spotOverall, we enjoyed our stay at the campground, but the restroom facilities are a major concern for all campers; anyone who is sensitive to unsanitary restrooms should therefore avoid this campground. From the campsite there are views of the lake with life on the water, sailing, the campsite's own Sun Ferry and the iconic Hjejlen which adds an extra charm. ☀️ Facilities: Cozy atmosphere with many activities such as mountain biking, hiking routes and several cycling routes that allow you to explore the area on two wheels. Canoeing and kayaking are also available, providing a unique way to experience the lakes. 🛶☀️ The café offers a great selection of food and drinks morning, noon and night and a visit is highly recommended. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted by a welcoming and friendly atmosphere. The campsite is fantastically located in the middle of nature with a view of Svejbæksnævringen, where you can watch the Hjejle boats sail past - an experience in itself!
The... facilities are top notch, from the cozy playgrounds to the well-maintained service houses. We rented bikes and explored the beautiful forest trails around the site, and a boat trip on the Gudenå River was the icing on the cake.
The campsite café serves delicious food and it was a delight to start the day with bread from their shop. Everything has been thought of, and the combination of nature, activities and good service makes Skyttehusets Camping one of the best camping experiences I've had. We spent 10 days here over Easter with our two teenagers and caravan. We stayed on one of the viewing pitches, which are nice and large (ideal for our 7.5m caravan) and offer a wonderful view of the lake.
The campsite is in a beautiful and quiet location. It is... surrounded by beautiful nature, especially forests and lakes. Wonderful for hiking, mountain biking, fishing, boating or just relaxing. We were able to watch deer, herons, green woodpeckers and kingfishers from the campsite!
There are plenty of activities for young and old on the campsite, such as mini golf, table tennis, outdoor games, various boats to hire or playing in the playground.
The sanitary facilities are clean, functional and sufficient. The shower is controlled by a card, but there is no overall time limit. There are some showers with hand showers, ideal for girls with long hair or children. There is a mini-shop on site with the essentials and a small café, which offers delicious cakes and coffee as well as small snacks. The owners, Tina and Torben, are very welcoming and always took the time to answer our questions.

The camp is located in a beech forest on the shores of Lake Silkeborg and is actually one of the most beautifully situated campsites in Denmark. The lake is a great water sports area. Canoes paddle past, children play on the shore, a family of ducks quack, a barbecue... smoulders somewhere. The perfect camping idyll. I loved it and the cafeteria with barbecue is also a real plus, especially if you're on the road on a motorcycle. I only found peace and quiet late at night because the neighbors were partying late into the night. There are rules - like everywhere else - but unfortunately nobody pays attention to them and I didn't dare go over and complain. Nevertheless, the site is first class and the sanitary facilities are premium. The only downside was that the motorcycle was not allowed in and had to be left outside in the forest parking lot overnight. However, I was allowed to drive in briefly and unload my luggage.
