"Östersunds Island Camping - The campsite is idyllically situated on an island south of Östersund and is easily accessible. With the exception of the 12 or so gravelled pitches near the reception, the pitches are all on a sloping meadow on a slight slope. Some skill is therefore required to align the caravan. The sanitary facilities and service buildings are quite modern and clean, the staff are a little distant and not so motivated in the low season. Otherwise a quiet site with a beautiful view of the lake. About 7 km to the town center; quite easy by bike.

"Beautiful location, loveless campsite - We now know both pitches in Östersund and this one particularly disappointed us. The huge meadow is very sloping, making it difficult to set up caravans and motorhomes. However, the sanitary facilities were the very worst. Not only a small number but also defective (men's toilet and shower), only one of two shower cubicles usable. Lack of cleanliness. The staff seemed unmotivated. We will not be back.

"The nicer place in Östersund - Beautiful location high above Storsjön, great view. Sloping tent pitch, but it works. Cleanliness of the sanitary facilities could be better. It's a long way out, but it's worth it. We've also seen the other sites in Östersund, but this is the nicest.

"Good for sightseeing - We stayed here for two nights in June 2014. The site is close to Östersund and is easy to reach by bike. The site consists of a steeply sloping meadow, which makes pitching the caravan problematic. Very wet when it rains. Nice view of the lake. The sanitary buildings are clean and not too far away. Good for a few days.

" - Large site on a slope. There are 3 sanitary blocks spread across the site with clean facilities. Beautiful view of the lake. Pitches not parceled out but numbered with their own electricity connections.

" - Well laid out site with good infrastructure. Good asphalt roads make driving and parking comfortable. The pitch is a "large meadow" that slopes down from the road to the lake - giving a wonderful view over the campsite to the lake. Sanitary building functional and clean. Nice staff at reception. Occasional low-flying airplanes to the nearby airfield and in the "rush hour" driving noise from the road traffic. Center of Östersund quickly accessible.

Profil

First Camp Frösön-Östersund, with a view over the lake Storsjön, is located just a few minutes away from Östersund. This is the perfect place to enjoy life, the calmness and the nature at. The camping is open all year around …and here you are offered a wide variety of activities during both summer and winter. Who knows, maybe you will be lucky enough to see the beast of the lake, Storsjöodjuret, during your holiday. Connected to the camping site there is several historical walking trails that gives you the opportunity to explore the history and the magnificent nature of Jämtland. Here you can also enjoy a round of mini golf, boules, a game of basketball or beach volleyball and for the youngest members of the family we also have a playground. If you choose to stay on site during the days you will find the view of lake Storsjön very nice and relaxing. If you would rather want to spend your day exploring you will reach the city of Östersund and all its shopping and restaurants in just a few minutes. Close to the camping site you will also find Frösö golf course, Frösö zoo and Frösö tower with its magnificent view. Well worth a visit is the museum and historical park Jamtli. During summer lake Storsjön can offer days at the beach. For those who want there is also a surfers area. During the winter it is very popular to go ice skating, when the ice is thick enough on the lake, or to visit the winter park.
