"Vacation with motorhome - The site scores with its location. Everything else that makes a campsite is neglected or does not exist. The price is therefore too high.

"Advertising and reality are far apart - One stage of my journey in an ancient camper van was to be Saalthal-Alter. My fridge had given up the ghost, but the website advertised a store and restaurant on site. So I thought I could stock up on everything I needed on site for 4 days and enjoy the beautiful lake on my SUP. Even the approach was adventurous. The satnav claimed that just after Bucha there was a left turn into the forest. But there was a sign saying "No vehicles of any kind" = a white circle with a red border. No indication of the campsite. But there is no other access road to the campsite, says the navigation system. That's the way it is. Eyes closed and through. It's a single-lane road for about 5 km without guard rails to the steep precipice, with a few small passing bays. Arriving at the campsite, I first need a cold drink in the shade at 36°. The store and reception are located together. Everything is manageable, as it is essentially a beer shop, there is also wine, no food apart from UHT milk, a few bottles of mineral water and 2 bottles of lemonade as non-alcoholic drinks. When I asked where the restaurant was, the woman at reception explained in astonishment that it had been closed for a long time. My vacation came to an abrupt end at that point. Just get out of here. On the way back, 5 km uphill to the main road, I prayed that I wouldn't be met by a horse and cart from above ... It would be nice if the website didn't overlook the details so generously. The site is practically unreachable by phone. W-Lan only in the reception.

"Beautiful location - trouble with the electronics - The transponders for entering the sanitary building work very poorly, so it is not possible to enter and shower. The situation remained unsatisfactory even after exchanging the card. Other guests felt the same way, the problem is known at the reception. When the invoice was issued, a completely excessive amount was displayed and only after persistent insistence was the justified amount accepted. The customer in front of me had the same problem

"... lives from the substance... - The campsite has a wonderful location and offers a magnificent view of the Hohewartestausee lake from almost every pitch. Once functionally well laid out and with an excellent infrastructure, it has been steadily going downhill for a few years now. Stable management failure has led to an overload and exodus of qualified staff and increasing gaps in service, maintenance and repair of the infrastructure. For example, the sign "Defective sanitary infrastructure, soap dispensers missing" is being posted more and more frequently. The expensively leased jetties are showing increasing wear and tear and damage, the adjustments to changing water levels are being missed, resulting in damage to the jetties and the threat of boats lying dry. The neglect seems to be an essential part of the current operator's work; the necessary costs to maintain the condition of the site are being foregone and the substance of the infrastructure and staff are being sacrificed. What a pity!
