Sanitary facilities urgently need to be renovated and the cleanliness could also be better
Good campsite for the weekend
We were here for the weekend with three caravans/motorhomes. The online booking is great, fast, uncomplicated and we were able to choose the pitches so that we were next to each other or opposite each other. The lady at reception is very nice, the bread roll service is great with delicious bread rolls.... Only the outdated sanitary building needs to be renovated. The cleanliness could also be better, there were a lot of cobwebs etc.. All in all, a nice place for our weekend trips.

Staff +++ Bread roll service. Bordering the banks of the Main. Lake is for swimming and even access for dogs (beach!!) Beach Burger Bar. Very fair CP prices !!!
Negativos
Sanitary facilities are getting old... but still ok. No kiosk for "omissions". No coffee machine
Beautiful CP and great for dogs
You can even book a free pitch by making a reservation (online).
Is dog and child friendly. Also ideal for the "elderly" ;-).
Also suitable for travelers passing through.
Only one Gastro +++ (original Franconian) from Wed - Sun within walking distance (5 min. walk). Otherwise delivery service, or LIF city center (+15 min. drive). Info at the CP.

GLADLY AGAIN !!!

Fall 2024
Very friendly gentleman at the registration desk,
the place is really nice, it is quiet and the prices are really still cheap.
However, the sanitary facilities are not (or no longer) up to date!

We have already been to the site 3 times in 2024 and compared to 2023 the cleanliness and especially the... cleaning performance by the service provider was a disaster. Here a cleaning is signed off in the checklists, but no service is provided.
For example, soap dispensers were empty immediately afterwards, as they had been the day before. Wet cleaning or disinfection does not take place. The towel paper is refilled and that's it. The two cleaning staff stood in front of the entrances.

Yes, the place was almost completely occupied, but to clean here only once a day is not acceptable.

The sanitary facilities are from the 80s and it is time to fundamentally renovate and expand them, as the place is quite well received.

As the town of Lichtenfels is increasing the prices for 2025 by over 30%, there should also be something in return.

Sanitary building
Summer vacation
A very idyllic campsite directly on the Main with sufficiently large pitches. The bread roll service is excellent. The nearby outdoor pool invites you to cool off outside and the beach bar for a sundowner afterwards. The friendly staff are always ready to help.
However, the sanitary building should be... given a thorough clean. The aging charm of the 80s is okay if it is clean, but there are deposits of soap residue everywhere and judging by the number of cobwebs, these have not been removed for a long time.

Unfriendly and incompetent staff. Booking went totally wrong. Very poor accessibility and service during the booking process. Toilet building very unclean.
Never again!
After more than 20 years of camping experience, I have already experienced a lot, but never such an unfriendly and dismissive woman at the reception. Even when we registered, no answer was given to normal questions by email, then we tried to call, no chance!!!!
At different times on different days, no... one answered the phone. When we arrived we had the feeling that we had better leave, we were not welcome here, as we would probably cause too much work at the registration desk. We were then refused the pitches we had booked and had to go to a large meadow at the end of the campsite. A female camper felt disturbed by our tent set-up and complained to the campsite management, who immediately called the police. We were probably drinking alcohol. 😂
OK, this is supposed to happen on vacation when camping. The police then took our personal details under threat of being sent off. And all this in the afternoon at about 16:00. Great when you feel like a criminal on vacation. Unfortunately, you can't have fun here.
For us, a group of 12 men all over 50, this place is out of the question. We don't have to do this.

About the buildings:
Quite old and in need of renovation, the toilets can only be opened with a chip and smell very bad. All in all, the site seems to be geared more towards permanent campers, and as a short-term camper you have the feeling of being unwanted.

Lots of mosquitoes in summer.

Better look for another site with friendly staff 😉

With full occupancy, not all campers were considerate. We found it very annoying that some of them were constantly smoking near us. A little more consideration would have been nice.
Nice campsite in Upper Franconia
A beautifully situated and well-equipped campsite. Directly on the Main and close to Lichtenfels.
It seems to be very popular, so you should avoid vacations if possible. The site apparently also attracts guests who don't tolerate fresh air and exercise so well (see disadvantages). Perhaps we need - at least when the site is full - designated non-smoking areas.

Lovely family camping with friends
We spent a lovely family weekend with our friends at this campsite. Direct access to the Main from the pitch, ideal for canoeing and SUP. Beach feeling right next to the bathing lake with a great cocktail bar.
Sanitary facilities super clean.
Sometimes difficult to reach by phone, but a prompt call back to an email inquiry.

Beautiful, perfectly located city campsite
We stayed at the campsite in the Corona year because we couldn't go abroad. We liked it very much. Absolutely perfect location. We had booked a pitch in advance because there were restrictions due to Corona. Not all pitches could be occupied. This meant that the campsite was full even though there were... still places available.
As the restaurant at the campsite and the adjacent bathing lake were closed and there was no bread roll service or similar, we had to cater for ourselves. The nearest catering facilities were a few kilometers away in the direction of the town center.

Great campsite right on the Main!
The two of us had the opportunity to pitch our tent right by the river (but without a car - which wasn't a problem). We were given a very warm welcome and the overall impression of the campsite was great. There was a lot going on, lots of nice campers, ducks also visited us and we spotted lots of fish... on the way to the Main for a swim. The way to the toilet/shower was not too far, but they were no longer in the best location, but still perfectly adequate. All in all, this one night at the campsite was great and we would come back any time!

Nice campsite right on the river
This place is big, but it is still cozy and you can relax. We pitched our tent right on the riverbank. The only criticism was that the car had to be parked outside in a parking lot. Very friendly staff and great value for money. Definitely recommended!

Great place, gladly again
We've been to the site twice now and will visit again next time we're in the Bamberg region. We checked in quickly with the friendly groundsman as we had a reservation. We had already asked for a pitch on the banks of the Main during our reservation and were given a pitch there on both visits. The pitches... for the caravan campers are big enough for caravan+car+awning/awning, and there is also enough space for an awning on the motorhome pitches. Electricity and water connections are close to the pitch, and satellite reception doesn't cause any problems. The site is also in a quiet location. There are no restaurants on the site, but there is a beach club right next door and the highly recommended Brauereigasthof Wichert is about a 10-minute walk away (table reservations are advisable). Stores for shopping are also only 5 minutes away by car. From the square you can also quickly reach the main roads and highways in the region. If you like small breweries with the opportunity for cozy eating and drinking, you will find an oversupply around Lichtenfels and Bad Staffelstein, but Franconia is famous for that anyway. The place was also really cheap. Unfortunately, the sanitary facilities were a negative. These are quickly reached, but with their nato-olive green color scheme and the somewhat older furniture and the missing toilet seats (you sit directly on the ceramic bowl (no idea if this is also the case for the ladies), this is an absolute no-go! In addition, there are only 4 shower cubicles for the men, which is too few for the large space. The cleaning times from around 10:00 am also start too early. The sanitary facilities should definitely be renovated. At least everything worked and it was clean. Another small point of criticism is the bread roll service, which is only offered in the morning from 08:00 to 08:15. So if you want fresh bread rolls you can't sleep in. The bread roll service should be changed so that you order from the groundsman and the rolls can then be collected from 08:00 (or even later). That's how it's actually done.

Poor organization
Arrival 2 p.m. Reception not occupied. As there were no reservation signs on the pitches, we parked on one of the free Womo pitches. From 4.30pm the reception was manned and they wanted us to move to another pitch number. Even though 2/3 of the pitches were not occupied. Apparently they don't want guests... here for one night. After we were forced to pack everything up again and move 10m we left the site. My conclusion: staff could be friendlier, no attempt was made to accommodate us, reservation signs could help, we won't be back.

Great place right on the lake. Basically quiet. We had one of the pitches with the permanent campers, almost directly on the lake. The permanent campers are all very nice and open. We felt very comfortable there. The only downside was that the sanitary facilities were a bit far away on foot, so you have... to take your bike. Drinking water and showers are free. The baker comes every morning and is great. Bring a little time for this. The queue is always long. Coffee and cold drinks for in between are available from the groundsman. Cooking facilities for 20 cents per kWh. Common room with book lending. Shopping facilities can be reached quickly by car, but also no problem by bike or on foot. The lake is also a bathing lake for local residents. Very clean. Caribbean feeling with a cocktail right next door. The groundsman is very funny and helpful.
