- Michael L.September 2020PositivosVery clean toilets and the space leaves plenty of room for individuality. In the parking lot in front of the reception there is a typical Ruhr area chip van with a very nice boss who makes everything fresh himself.NegativosI haven't noticed anyClean and generously laid outThe site is very well maintained and is located on a slope on a larger area. The pitches are sufficiently dimensioned and terraced from the site you have direct access to the Ruhr. At the chip van in front of the reception you can have good conversations and eat a delicious French fries currywurst as is usual in the Ruhr area.Traduzido automaticamente.
- Dieter B.June 2019PositivosIn the middle of the green, close to the Ruhr Valley cycle pathNegativosVery hilly, not very friendly staff, very long power cable needed at the motorhome siteWe had hoped for more from the spaceThe campsite is located on a "mountain" so it is not completely straight everywhere. Depending on where you stand, you need a very long cable on the motorhome pitch. The friendliness leaves a lot to be desired, you get the feeling that you are being a nuisance. The toilets at the motorhome site are modern... and clean. The restaurant at the site is a "chip shop" that lives from the cyclists who are on the Ruhr Valley cycle path. Overall, there is still plenty of room for the site to develop.Traduzido automaticamente.
- Jens S.June 2019PositivosShort way to the highwayNegativosSlope of the parking spaces borderline (see photo)Highly recommended as a place to stay overnightAccess very narrow with possible oncoming traffic. The site is dominated by permanent campers. Turf pitches for tourists have extreme slopes. Don't forget to bring underlay blocks. Fresh rolls to order in advance. Friendly ladies in the small store. The grumpy gentleman at reception seems to go to the... cellar to laugh... New sanitary building is top in every respect. The old sani building exudes the charm of the 70s. The adjoining natural beer garden is to be recommended.Traduzido automaticamente.
- Klaus M.March 2019PositivosIn the middle of the Ruhr area and a great local recreation area. So location, location, locationNegativosThe access road, but the pitch can't help it.Very nice place quiet and yet close to DortmundVery friendly staff at the reception. Space ok, sanitary bright, friendly and clean. The men's toilets a bit small (opening the door to the outside would be better?). The small kitchen with seating for tent campers is very nice. There is a natural beer garden right next to the site on the Ruhr. You have to go there! We cycled to Dortmund City, exhausting but doable. A few more garbage cans to dispose of dog bags, for example, would be nice.Traduzido automaticamente.
- Jens A.October 2018Positivosclean sanitary facilities close to Dortmund friendly staffNegativosvery narrow access to the site poorly lit at nightBeautiful place directly on the RuhrWe 2 adults and 2 children (7 and 11) spent 2 nights here. We can't say much about the place as we were only here to stay overnight. We received a very warm welcome. The new sanitary building at the lower part of the site near the small children's playground is TOP and very clean. The disadvantage of... the upper part is that it is more difficult to get there in the dark as the path is hardly illuminated. The approach to the campsite is very narrow for the last kilometer. Fortunately, no one came to meet us on arrival and departure. There is a store where you can order bread rolls and get something to eat and drink. The pitches are sloping, so wheel chocks are required. The Ruhr can be reached in a few minutes and invites you to take beautiful walks. You are also within 20 minutes in the city center of Dortmund (Thiergalerie) You can hear the highway and the planes fly over you. This did not bother us much.Traduzido automaticamente.
- Manfred B.July 2018Positivosbeautiful + quiet location very clean sanitary facilitiesNegativosLong distances to fetch waterGood place on the edge of the RuhrpottVisited friends in Dortmund. Stayed 2 nights. Very friendly welcome. Free choice of seat. Terrace pitch selected. Sufficiently large pitches. To the power box about 20 meters. Water in the sanitary building. 1 older + 1 newer sanitary building. Both very clean. Playground not really good for the little... ones. For older children, however, quite well equipped and quite large. Nice and quiet location. Dog owners receive a key for the lower door and can then take a wonderful walk along the Ruhr. All in all, highly recommended.Traduzido automaticamente.
- Claudia B.July 2018Positivos-fresh bread rolls - beautifully situated -dogs welcome - nice staffNegativos- unfortunately you can hear the highway and airplanesA beautiful campsiteWe stayed at this campsite for a week. The site is very nice, you can get directly to the Ruhr via the site. From there, a cycle path leads to the left or right along the Ruhr. There is a small store on the site where you can order fresh bread rolls every day. We received a very friendly welcome from... Marion at the information desk. Dogs are also no problem, there are plenty of paths for walking and there is a dog shower on site. Unfortunately, you can hear the highway and airplanes fly every 10 minutes. So unfortunately it's not for sensitive ears. However, we were told that it is due to the wind and cannot always be heard.Traduzido automaticamente.
- Sebastian S.May 2018PositivosClean Quiet To recommendNegativosPlayground only for children who can already climb wellSuccessful short vacationOverall a nice place. Many permanent campers. All very friendly. Some need to learn that in the north you say moin all day long. The playground is unfortunately not designed for very small children.Traduzido automaticamente.
- Jens Z.March 2018PositivosNice staff, good sanitary facilities, no serious disadvantages ;-)NegativosApproach somewhat adventurous and winding. Apart from a snack bar, there are no restaurants in the immediate vicinity.Nice short tripWe drove to the campsite for two nights to get some practice with our new caravan and awning. The access road to the campsite is well signposted several kilometers in advance, the last stretch (about the last half kilometer) leads over a somewhat narrower, winding road with a gradient of up to 14%. Fortunately,... there were only cars coming towards us, otherwise it would have been a bit difficult, but otherwise we had no problems with our 10.5m trailer. The site is in a pretty green area on a slope and slopes down from the entrance to the south-west towards the Ruhr. There is a locked gate at the lower end of the site (key against deposit at reception), which leads to an excursion restaurant (although still closed when we visited) and directly to the Ruhr. Unfortunately, despite the hillside location, there is no particularly beautiful panorama or direct view of the water. There are some beautiful, older trees in places, but overall the site should have a little more vegetation for our taste. The front / upper part is probably intended for tourist campers, here the paths are well paved and the pitches are easily accessible and mainly flat. Other parts of the site are dominated by permanent campers, so the access seems quite "tricky" in places. We were allowed to set up in the large round area in front of the new wash house. The pitch is mostly gravel and level. Electricity, water and waste disposal are in the immediate vicinity. The wash house is modern and comfortable and - depending on the other campers - very clean. However, the layout of the toilet and shower cubicles seems somewhat arbitrary to me. The men's showers are huge, while you can get a bit claustrophobic in the toilet cubicle, and it's probably the other way around for the women. There are no storage facilities in the showers. I really like the book corner and the communal kitchen for tent campers. Taps are equipped with proximity sensors (or buttons in the shower). This can be a bit annoying, but the hot water is included and you can shower for as long as you like. I think that's only fair. The staff are very friendly and helpful, we felt very welcome from the first telephone contact to departure and had very nice conversations. There is an old restaurant in front of the campsite, but it is no longer in operation - what a shame. Next to the reception there is a kiosk / snack bar with tasty daily specials for little money, everyday necessities and fresh bread rolls can be ordered in advance. Gas bottles can also be exchanged on site, and waste disposal is smooth and free of charge. The location in the south of Dortmund offers countless possibilities for excursions and leisure activities, the casino is less than 500m from the site as the crow flies. Due to the location on the edge of the Ruhr area, you must of course expect a certain amount of noise from the surrounding highways. The campsite is also a little "off the beaten track" in terms of traffic. The area is hilly and the roads wind around the mountain and the slopes of the Ruhr, so you rarely get from A to B in a straight line. Apart from the casino and a few restaurants, Hohensyburg itself doesn't have much to offer, so you'll need a car for shopping. For our short trip with a new caravan, the Hohensyburg campsite was a very good choice and exceeded our expectations. The price/performance ratio is absolutely fine, especially as the electricity is charged at a flat rate and free WiFi is offered. We will be happy to visit the site again when we get the chance.Traduzido automaticamente.
- Pietro B.September 2017PositivosThere is even a room with electric stoves.NegativosActually just this steep, rocky path. But the campsite is huge and you have a free choice.General Nice campsiteThe upper campsite can be reached via a small path. There you are completely surrounded by nature, but unfortunately the only way to get there is by jeep. The path is very steep and stony. However, it is recommended for hikers or cyclists.Traduzido automaticamente.
- Horst S.July 2017PositivosFacility very well maintainedNegativosMany sloping pitches due to the landscapeVery well-kept place with good infrastructureWe chose the pitch because of its proximity to Dortmund's Westfalenhalle. We received a warm welcome and were shown the ropes. Nice site, but not easy for large caravans due to the sloping tourist pitches. We therefore stood in the area for motorhomes.Traduzido automaticamente.
- Dirk T.June 2017PositivosA very nice "new" sanitary facility, good food and a great rest, very pleasant.NegativosThe approach and exit of the campsite is not suitable for larger caravans or motorhomes. The pitches are often on a slope.Camping over the Ruhr and under the casinoIt is a beautifully situated campsite with wonderful peace and quiet. The operators are very friendly. The "kitchen boss" takes some getting used to. All in all, a very nice place.Traduzido automaticamente.
- Christoph K.June 2017PositivosLots of leisure activities and quieter than expected.NegativosThe access road is poor and overgrown. Unsuitable for larger motorhomes.Beautiful place that deserves better ratingsBeautiful campsite with lots of leisure facilities. Nice reception, great sanitary building, unfortunately a little out of the way. It's not so easy to get to Dortmund. The access for larger vehicles could be better. The paths are very overgrown. The site definitely deserves more stars.Traduzido automaticamente.
- Götz W.October 2016Great campsiteWe stayed at this campsite for one night. The reception was very friendly. The new, modern sanitary building was clean and well maintained. Ideal for dog owners. We were allowed to leave our caravan free of charge until the afternoon the next day. THANK YOU for this courtesy. The only disadvantage we noticed in the short time was that the night's rest was not observed.Traduzido automaticamente.
- Martin H.September 2016Very nice campsite on the edge of the eastern Ruhr areaWe received a very friendly welcome and were delighted with the location of the campsite and the comfortable and clean sanitary facilities.Traduzido automaticamente.
- Gordon D.August 2016PositivosWonderful altitude, very good catering, super modern sanitary buildingNegativosNone. Just a tip to the operators to make sure that the great sanitary building stays great.Excellent placeVery well-kept, very tidy place. The manager is reserved Westphalian, but very friendly, the staff very cordial. The new sanitary building meets the very highest standards, but the operators should ensure that the cleaning standard is maintained. The site is at many different altitudes, so campers can... choose where they want to stay. The top is the most beautiful, but the path to the sanitary building is also quite steep from there. The highway is audible, but we are in the Ruhr area. But the view is fantastic, you feel like you're in the Allgäu and can't believe you're in Dortmund. Kiosk, pub, bread roll service and restaurant on site, great scenery, modern sanitary building, friendly people and even the permanent campers don't look shabby - a very, very good site. I can't understand the sometimes poor reviews.Traduzido automaticamente.
- Andreas W.July 2016Positivossee "LIGHT"Negativossee "SHADOWS"The place is better than 2.xx stars!Approach: Very well signposted. Last approx. 500 m: 14% gradient / single lane. No problem as long as there is no oncoming traffic. If you only move along the kiosk / registration > camper meadow / motorhome traffic circle > new sanitary building, the site would easily deserve 4 stars. LIGHT: Very friendly... and helpful receptionist. Next to it a lovely kiosk with delicious schnitzels. Well-kept camper meadow, albeit very sloping (you have to level it out with the supports) and new, very modern and very comfortably furnished sanitary building. SCHATTEN: Unfortunately, the campers don't look after their sanitary building very well. Some people probably don't understand that you should leave a toilet the way you would like to find it yourself. Not everything should be blamed on the cleaning lady. Walking around the square, you can clearly see the remnants of the 70s/80s. Some of the facilities are old-fashioned and the pitches, which have been abandoned, are unkempt. I would go there again for 1 or 2 nights. Because "LIGHT" prevails for me and something is happening on the site.Traduzido automaticamente.
- Gisela B.October 2015Walking impairedVery friendly welcome, pitches for tourists muddy, but were repaired with gravel on our departure, nice, new, clean toilet building. Unfortunately, the disabled toilet/washroom was constructed by non-disabled people. There is no shelf anywhere in the shower area, there is no toilet paper either, as the... paper roll is intelligently attached to the support bar between the toilet and shower and is therefore of course wet every time. Two coat hooks at a lofty height are only for giants. Too bad, but we are often neglected.Traduzido automaticamente.
- Sandra Z.July 2015PositivosNew sanitary buildingTop after modernization! We stayed here for a week in July 2015 with two small children (2;3). We were very impressed by the newly built sanitary building. The only drawback was that there were no plugs for the drain in the washing-up area, and the modern touch-free taps meant that more rather than less water was used... Otherwise,... the sanitary building was quite clean and was cleaned every day at lunchtime, but the rest of the time the state of the building also depends on the visitors, of course. The children's playground was currently being renovated during our visit, there were new seesaw animals for small children, a sandpit, TT table, a repaired slide and a "ropeway carousel". Four deep holes indicated that a new attraction would soon be installed. We had a great time and will definitely be back, as it is very conveniently located for us to visit relatives. A quick tip for dog owners: you can let your four-legged friends swim in the nearby Ruhr, but the "dog shower" only consists of a hose with cold water on the back wall of the sanitary building...Traduzido automaticamente.
- Elke H.July 2015Positivos- Good, quiet location - Friendly staff - Renovated sanitary building - Good starting point for excursions to various citiesNegativos- Second sanitary building in need of renovationRelaxed weekendWe spent a week at the campsite with our two children (6 + 11). The renovation of the sanitary blocks requested in the previous reviews has taken place in the lower of the two sanitary blocks. These have been renovated to the latest standards and are now very attractive. We enjoyed using the cooking... room, which also has seating inside. What else we would recommend: more coat hooks in the individual washing cubicles and a stool/shelf as an additional storage option. Especially nice: the shelf with the book exchange (borrow/take away/put away)! The second sanitary building (upstairs) would also benefit from modernization, but it is clean and offers all the necessary facilities. We received a very friendly welcome and the staff were very helpful. In short: we would love to come back - and maybe stay in one of the two barrels called Erna and Hedwig!!! ;-)Traduzido automaticamente.
