"Very nice little place - We felt very comfortable on the campsite and easily made contact with others. Ivana and Igor are very friendly and helpful. It is a very nice little site with about 20 pitches. There is relatively little on site (no sports facilities), but there is seating, a fridge, gas stove and barbecues, which means that if you are only there, you could leave some things at home. The supply of food is also very limited via the small stores nearby. The shallow pebble/sand beach nearby is great, especially for small children, snorkeling is also possible nearby and you can rent kayaks and paddle to nearby islands. For older children the offer is limited, you can only go to a sports field nearby and e.g. play football with the village youth and also the excursion possibilities on the island are not huge.

"Relaxed atmosphere, close to the sea, nice people! - We spent ten days at Camp Arboretum in hot August 2017 and can hardly wait to go back! The campsite is very manageable, most of the pitches have shade and there are hammocks and washing lines strung between the trees. At the back there is a small children's paddling pool, a shady terrace with beer tables, a fire pit for barbecues, communal fridges and gas stoves. This is where people meet in the morning for breakfast and exchange tips on the best bays for swimming or shopping, and in the evening for a barbecue or a glass of wine... During our stay, there were almost only families in the camp, the children bonded very quickly and romped around the camp together. Igor, the camp operator, is often to be found in the small hut at the entrance or busy on the site. He is happy to help with advice, tips or extra strong tent pegs and you can hire canoes from him to explore the coast. It takes about 10-15 minutes to walk to the sea (we shortened the time with dates from the roadside). The nearest bay has lots of shady spots, the seabed is made of fine sand and slopes very gently, ideal for children! A few steps further on you will find a simple restaurant and a small beach bar. Pašman and Ugljan also offer many other bays, some of them secluded, ranging from sandy to rocky... We really enjoyed our vacation here, would definitely recommend Camp Arboretum and will definitely be back!

"Rest and relaxation - We stayed at the Arboretum for two weeks as a family with two children (aged 2 and 4) in August 2016. We were looking for peace, relaxation and a child-friendly vacation. After a lot of online research, we chose the Arboretum as our vacation destination. One of the deciding factors was the reviews here (especially the review by thomas-89815 from August 2014). In addition to peace and relaxation, we found an incredibly friendly and warm atmosphere and community. We were immediately in (desired) contact, got the most important information about swimming, activities, shopping, etc., so that from the first minute "feeling good" was the order of the day. If you don't insist on the everyday "bells and whistles luxury" that surrounds us in abundance every day (which you could get in Zadar), you will find everything on the island of Pasman (without having to leave it): fresh fish, fresh meat, fruit and vegetables directly from the surrounding gardens (from the locals at their own stalls)... ...to then prepare your (completely unproblematic) shopping together with other families in the open communal kitchen in the middle of Croatian nature with a wonderful view of the mainland, the surrounding area and the bay (there were many wonderful barbecue evenings together), that is true luxury. You have to walk a few meters (200-300m) to the bay, but this is not a problem. The bay is ideal for children because of the sand and the shallow water. You don't need shoes here as there are no sea urchins in the sand (and as an adult who wants to snorkel a bit, you simply go further out and can then explore the underwater world after splashing around with the children when they are sleeping in the shade of young trees... ...there is also plenty to see in this bay, including rays, giant clams etc.). Originally, we also wanted to go on excursions to the mainland. However, as the Arboretum is so wonderfully relaxing and swimming in the bay was (or is) so wonderfully pleasant, we simply went on a beach vacation without getting bored... We can recommend the Arboretum with a clear conscience. It's certainly not perfect... but that's what makes a campsite like this so charming. And the absence of large camper vans is a wonderful thing,... They are not welcome, for reasons that we personally share. It should also be mentioned that the Arboretum is an ideal starting point for numerous activities such as mountain biking, hiking, kayaking etc.... We didn't take advantage of this... we preferred to enjoy total relaxation with our two children. Both children had lots of other children to play with from the minute they arrived.... ...that's a vacation! Thanks to Igor, thanks to the Arboretum... and especially thanks to thomas-89815, we hope you have a great time... but you can assume that at the Arboretum :-) Relaxed and refreshed greetings ... and a tip to all travelers in this world: bring hospitality with you from home,... ...in the Arboretum you can experience and enjoy it in the most beautiful way. 31.08.2016, Nikolaus W. from Munich

"Cozy campsite with a family atmosphere - small but nice - In July 2015 we spent a great summer vacation here with our four children (6,8,12,13). The campsite is beautifully situated, surrounded by stone walls and with trees on the grounds. The communal kitchen with tables and benches is a great place to meet other vacationers and get information about the region. The sanitary facilities are practically furnished and are cleaned daily. Igor is a very friendly manager who is happy to respond to his guests' requests. That's why the atmosphere at the campsite is exceptionally relaxed and cozy. Camping Arboretum is a good starting point for beach vacations, boat trips or hikes to the other side of the island. There are shops and restaurants in Barotul, Pasman and Tkon. We are already looking forward to our next stay at Camp Arboretum!

"Our perfect vacation happiness - In front of the campsite, next to an old anchor, is a self-painted wooden sign with the caption 'no stress'. Both were fulfilled during our vacation: originally planned for only three nights, we stayed with our children (2 + 4 years old) for a total of 18 nights. We enjoyed the tranquillity in the midst of unspoilt nature, the various nearby beaches (for us, in addition to the secluded rocky beach, which is very suitable for snorkeling, the gently sloping sandy beach was ideal. Even the two-year-old could walk 20 meters into the sea here at low tide), the fully equipped kitchen with a large fireplace (every second evening we had a barbecue, sometimes together with other families), Igor's relaxed and cordial way of dealing with the guests, the clean sanitary facilities, the hikes into the hinterland with wonderful views of the Kornati islands and the surrounding islands and, last but not least, the wonderful company of other families with similar vacation ideas. Igor and his arboretum are the perfect place for anyone who wants to spend their tent vacation (the site is rather unsuitable for large motorhomes and caravans) far away from mass tourism. We will be back!

Camp Arboretum is located in the heart of Dalmatia, in the quiet bay of the village of Barotul on the island of Pašman. With the distance of 150 m from the sandy beach, the most beautiful one on the island …and around, surrounded by olive trees and macchia, with the beautiful view of the bay and the islands, camp Arboretum gives you an unforgettable opportunity to have the best holidays and to relax. It is situated on a small hill, with the surface of 3.000 m2, and it is bounded by suhozid, the traditional Croatian drystone wall. It is home to all kinds of Mediterranean flora, which explains the origin of its name. The camp is completely surrounded by nature so the guests can fully enjoy their privacy. Summer breezes keep the place pleasant and airy. Camp Arboretum is provided with the high-standard facilities, the big barbecue and the gathering place. The camp uses the solar energy and the spring water of a good quality. It has its parking place next to the accommodation sector, which makes the camp more attractive and comfortable for its guests. Nearby there is a restaurant with the huge variety of fresh food and Mediterranean cuisine specialties. You can buy food and everyday life items in the supermarket in Barotul, some 500 meters distance from the camp. You can also buy fresh, home-grown fruit and vegetables from the local people and fresh fish on the local fish-market. Very close to the camp there are sports grounds where you can play football, beach volleyball and table tennis. The island of Pašman has many bike and trekking trails and many caves to explore. The Pašman channel has dozens of little islands ideal for exploring, many desolate bays and beaches, an interesting seafloor and the perfect conditions for sailing. Pašman also enjoys the privilege of short distance from Croatia's three national parks, such as the Kornati Islands, the Krka Falls and Paklenica, and the nature park Vrana Lake. It is connected to its neighbouring island Ugljan by the bridge.

Ferry services are available …all days of the week from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. You can also come to the island by ferry from Zadar via the island of Ugljan.
