The 3 star Les Iles de Silon Municipal Campsite is a peaceful and quiet stop that is perfect for a one or two night stopover or for a more lengthy stay to enjoy the Drome and Auvergne region. Nightly... rates are very reasonable and will not break the bank.
The campsite is well organised and beautifully maintained with modern, clean washroom facilities, a small laundry room with token operated washing machine and a free to use fridge/freezer. Pitches are large and power and water access is very close at hand throughout the site.
The management team, headed by Mme. Gaillard, are very friendly and extremely helpful. We had the good fortune to stay here enjoying their hospitality for a month, after we experienced a breakdown with our tow car. The Gaillard family and campsite staff looked after us superbly during this difficult time.
Les Iles de Silon Campsite caters for tents, caravans and motor homes of all sizes. There are also wooden cabins and mobile homes for rental if you do not have your own camping equipment
There is a small play area, covered seating for picnics and an area for boules. Bread and pastries can be ordered for the morning and you can get fresh coffee, cold drinks, ice cream, wine and fresh fruit (homegrown from the family’s fields) from the office shop. A mobile pizza van visits once a week for those who wish to take a break from cooking for themselves.
Supermarkets, restaurants, sport/swimming complexes, boat access to the river, walking/cycling paths and St. Vallier town are all easily accessible by foot
Within easy walking distance along the RN7, you will find an Aldi and a Netto (which also sells fuel) and an Action outlet store. The quiet town of St Vallier is a short walk from the site The main train station for St. Vallier is adjacent to the RN7 and is close to the campsite. We only spent one night there because we are passing through. For us the campsite has everything we need. The plots are grants. The wash house is of municipal standard and has toilets, washbasins and showers as well as washing-up areas etc. with hot water. Electricity on all pitches (except tents and city side) and water taps on the site.NegatywneYou can't really say anything. Perhaps that there is no fence passage directly to the Rhone, but that would be complaining on a high level, as the path "in front" is short.Beautifully located municipal campsite directly on the banks of the RhoneA typical French urban campsite with good facilities, nice pitches and basic infrastructure. However, we also prefer this type of site. Saint-Vallier is located directly on the banks of the Rhone and the campsite (coming from the north) is within walking distance of the town center between the main road... and the banks of the Rhone (directly on the banks). It is in a quiet location due to the buildings between the road and the campsite. We used it as a "stop-over option" on the way to Provence, as you can then head for various sights such as Oranges or the large aquaduct. Very friendly reception. Very good value for money. Although there are no amenities (which is usual for municipals), the "town center" is within walking distance. Directly along the banks of the Rhone. Because of the one overnight stay, of course, various things cannot be evaluated.
