- ASAstrid S.august 2026Camping Vacation with Your DogWe stayed there in August with two people and three dogs. The campground was very quiet (the summer vacation season had ended). As dog owners, we opted for a fenced-in site. The site was spacious (for a trailer with an awning) and ideal for the dogs. The restroom building at the end of the campground... is quite old, but fully functional. Both the showers and the restrooms were clean. They could clean out the cobwebs and such more often, but that didn’t affect the overall cleanliness of the restrooms. Soap, toilet paper, hygiene bags, etc., were always restocked, and the trash cans were emptied regularly. There’s no restaurant at the campground, but there is a small kiosk that’s open 2–3 times a week. The lady at the kiosk is super friendly. She sells pizza and hot dogs, drinks, and other snacks. We went there twice and chose the pizza both times. Otherwise, the campground offers a bread roll delivery service. If you like to eat out more often, you’ll find plenty of options in the town of Bleckede, where there are various restaurants.

I thoroughly enjoyed my one-week stay at your beautiful campground in such a wonderful location. It’s a place where you can truly relax and unwind. The pleasant size of the campsites provides plenty of space for privacy. The modern restroom facility is beautifully... designed and well thought out.
Despite all the positives, however, there is unfortunately also cause for criticism: the restroom facilities were not cleaned daily. There were even several days between cleanings. Fortunately, the campground wasn’t at full capacity, and the campers present were, for the most part, careful with the facilities. Hygienic restroom facilities are essential, especially when they’re used by different people.
Another problem was the lighting in the restroom stalls. It is sensibly controlled by motion sensors. While some motion sensors did detect movement, they did not turn on the lights. As a result, some toilet, sink, and shower stalls remained dark. I politely pointed out these issues at the front desk, but was met only with excuses such as “staff shortages,” “the staff needs time off too,” and “the lack of toilet paper is due to theft by campers.” I found this response regrettable and would have preferred a different way of handling my feedback.

The outdoor pool is right next door and absolutely beautiful. But what’s really not right is the kiosk—it’s practically never open. It was completely closed for three days, and on the other days it didn’t open until 5:30 p.m.... On top of that, the food is very expensive and the selection is way too small; there wasn’t even any pasta, and there were, for example, only two small yogurts in the fridge. You can buy pizza there that they bake for you on the spot, but it costs nearly €10—for a frozen pizza 🥴😖. The staff is friendly. We’d come back anytime, but only with a full fridge. + I was thrilled by the kitchen,... which had a stove, microwave, kettle, and refrigerator, as well as the dining area with tables and chairs. Everything was clean and well-maintained. There’s even a bookshelf to keep boredom at bay.
+ Next to the building, there was also a covered barbecue area with a table and benches.
For cyclists, this is a dream. If you don’t have anything with you—here you can sit in the dry, eat something, and warm up if needed.
+ Right next door is a forest swimming area that campers can use for free.
+ There’s plenty to explore in Alt Garge. The forest behind the campground offers a fantastic view of the Elbe River right from the start. Everywhere you look, there’s something from days gone by to read about and see. We actually learned a few new things and now appreciate the place even more.
+ Beautiful bike paths.
Downside: The campground doesn’t have good internet and the Wi-Fi is even worse. I think these days, you just can’t do without it—whether it’s for route planning, the weather forecast, the news, or staying in touch.
