Negative ting

A nature-oriented campground in an idyllic and peaceful setting
This was our second time at the campground since 2018, and we felt right at home again. The nature campground is surrounded by forest and borders Lake Åsjön.

The restrooms are in good condition and were always clean. Showers cost 3 SEK per minute and are paid for using a prepaid card. There’s a small... kiosk at the reception desk; in addition to a small selection of basic groceries, it sells ice cream, cold drinks, candy, souvenirs, and fresh baked goods. The baked goods come from the local bakery in Mariannelund and are available Monday through Saturday.

Our campsite was spacious, but it was very rocky, and despite having good rock pegs, we had a hard time setting up the awning.

There are countless recreational activities, such as hiking, Astrid Lindgren’s World, the filming locations for *Emil from Lönneberga* and *Bullerbü*, moose safaris, and nature reserves, to name just a few.

We highly recommend this campground.

Positive ting
+ Friendly reception and personal seat allocation + Close to the "Filmbyn Smaland" + Clean sanitary facilities
Negative ting
+ Long queue for breakfast pastries + Waiting times at check-in and check-out
Spilhammars Camping - Astrid Lindgren everywhere
Cool CP near Mariannelund, in the middle of "Astrid Lindgren Land".
The filming locations Katthult (Emil and Michel from Lönneberga) and Bullerby can be reached by bike.
Vimmerby with the adventure park "Astrid Lindgren's World" about 20 minutes by car, but at our time it was only open at weekends.
The... campsite has sufficient, always clean sanitary facilities, the pitches are flat and large enough
We were instructed by a nice young man who drove ahead of us on his bike.
Relatively steep ascent to the upper level, better with a bit of a run-up.
Two small lakes and footpaths make the site cozy, directly adjacent to forests and at our time lots of cranberries and blueberries.
Nearby is Filmbyn Smaland, a great museum about all the film adaptations of Astrid Lindgren's stories, with short videos and an insight into the studios. Brought back many childhood memories.
Despite the low season, the site was about 70% full.

Positive ting
Location at 2 lakes, nice place, clean sanitary, nice hiking possibilities, fresh bread rolls, great excursions to Michel/Emil, to Vimmerby and to Bullerbü
Negative ting
No pre-ordering of bread rolls possible and therefore 8:30 a.m. rush
Great place
We had a wonderful time here. Whether it was excursions, swimming in the lake, paddling on the other lake or hiking, it was fantastic. We will definitely be back.

Beautiful campsite
We rented a Stoga and were there with two motorcycles. Super nice campsite operators with a wonderful location. The Filmbyn Småland is just around the corner. Also the Katthulthof, where Michel from Länneberga was filmed. The Astrid Lindgren Värld is also just a stone's throw away in Vimmerby!
The campsite impresses with its location, cleanliness and value for money.

We would love to come back!

Great lakes for SUP riding Location to the Astrid Lindgren attractions beautifully wooded site
Negative ting
20 crowns for 10 minutes in the shower 4 toilets for the men are not enough No individual washing cubicles (especially annoying together with the showers for a fee) Bread rolls were regularly sold out after 20 minutes.
Super place in great surroundings
We felt very comfortable here. Great location for hiking and SUP and to the Astrid Lindgren attractions.
We spent 8 nights here and could have stayed longer.

quiet, in the middle of the forest next to two lakes (one bathing lake), small idyllic place under tall trees, in the middle of Astrid Lindgren country

idyllic place by the lake
very nice, simple CP. great location (two partial pitches) in the middle of the forest with a view of the lake and right next to a bathing lake. showers 2 crowns/minute via charged card. Mini store with bread rolls (note: sold out very quickly and pre-ordering not possible). Town approx. 1 km away, but... relatively modest (1 good bakery - which also supplies the campsite), 1 supermarket - that's it ...
all Michel and Bullerbü sights within easy reach (we did this with e-bikes). with children better by car (because of cycling on busy roads)
film museum right next door.

Campsite highly recommended

Positive ting
Many activities in the surrounding area. Small store, otherwise supermarket 2.5 km further on in the village.
Negative ting
If the pitch is full, you have to walk between the caravans to get to the sanitary facilities. It's not dramatic, but somehow it feels like you're running through someone else's living room.
Beautiful campsite with nature all around
Hiking trails in the immediate vicinity. Beach right next door. The restaurant and mini golf course were closed during our stay. The filming locations of The Children of Bullerbü or Michel from Lönneberga can be reached by bike. Many of Michel's scenes were filmed in Mariannelund. There are boards with... explanations in front of the filming locations, e.g. opposite ICA at the school. You can fish very well at Assjön. The lake is opposite the Filmby.
Sanitary facilities were cleaned once a day. Showers cost 2 crowns per minute.
Despite the negative point I can recommend the place.

Spilhammar's camping is a fantastic facility with nature in the camping area. Lots of hiking trails and for those who want to go out into the woods and train their dogs, there is good access to trails and other dog activities. To top it off, the campground has friendly staff who are always there with a positive attitude. A campsite that I can highly recommend for adults and customers with dogs.

Positive ting
Directly on the large lake, directly on the forest with jogging and cycling routes, many leisure activities, top contact, top sanitary facilities, beautiful place, small private jetty
Negative ting
Public bathing area right next door which was used a lot.
Very, very cool place! Lots around it!
We spent 3 days here and have fond memories of this campsite. The site was in excellent condition and contact with the owner was very friendly! Swimming, cycling, canoeing and hiking are great here. "There is also an Astrid Lindgren museum next door, but we didn't visit it. The site is perhaps suitable... if you want to go to Vimmerby to the Lindgren Park. Nearby is the Norra Kvil National Park, which was also a nice day trip for us. One of the best places for us with 2 dogs because there is a large wooded area right next door!

Very nice place for families
- free Wi-Fi - clean bathing area with toilet and changing facilities in the immediate vicinity - sanitary facilities always clean, toilet paper and soap always available There are very nice pitches right by the lake, but also some right by the toilets and garbage cans. Unfortunately, you are allocated pitches and therefore have no influence on them. We were lucky and got a pitch by the lake. We stayed at the campsite for a total of 13 nights.

Positive ting
Astrid Lindgren's Sweden is right on the doorstep, A. Lindgren's Värld and Michel's Katthult are just a few kilometers away.
Negative ting
Loudness, lack of sleep, full space
Hoping for more
The pitch was packed, the plots were stacked right up to the edge. The staff were friendly, the owner - more of a curmudgeon - was also friendlier after a bit of a wait. He showed us the site personally and made it very clear how far our plot goes... We have never experienced a campsite as noisy as Spilhammars. There was virtually no peace and quiet at night.

Wonderful camping!
Fantastic location, it takes an occasional ground stick as the ground is hard but that is no problem. Adjacent to a perfect swimming lake with a diving tower and large green area with space for play. Many nice walking trails near the campsite. Nice staff at the reception and nice order in the sanitary facilities. Very happy to go back!

Positive ting
Lake for swimming, beautiful forest with Smultron stables and blueberries, beautiful paths, also to the Old Oak. Close to Vimmerby and the surrounding area
Negative ting
A parking lot flair, without privacy. Zero goodwill in case of obvious misallocation. Every conceivable loophole is exploited.
Definitely not our case
We booked the pitch in advance for a week and paid a deposit. On arrival the note said period - 2 days. Booking compared - everything was fine. However, we were allocated a pitch that was really only suitable for two days! All the campers on the lake side traipse through our measly pitch, which is riddled... with roots, to the toilet, shower, to wash up and wherever else, other people's children don't even look at the pitch and run under the awning - that's obvious, because earlier it was the passage to the toilet! Zero privacy plus a great view of the garbage containers - if you sit at the window while eating, you can see and hear the bell ringers as they dispose of the garbage. We asked if it would be possible to get another pitch, we don't want to be on a lake, just in peace and with a little more privacy, we hoped they had made a mistake with the allocation, as the period was not correct, he was only shown the plan and told - fully booked. Next bitter surprise - 1min shower costs 2 SEK. To get to the toilet/shower you need a card. The number of toilets is a joke! With the amount of people! First time as a camper having to stand in line! The same when washing up! Really a bitter disappointment... a week of frustration instead of enjoying Sweden... We will NEVER come here again!

Super place
We were there in September 2018. At that time, the site was only occupied by 6 campers and was therefore idyllically quiet. The location directly on 2 bathing lakes and in the forest is fantastic. The pitch is not too big, but the pitches are. Everything was very well maintained. There are both shady and sunny pitches, all of which have electricity as far as I could see. We definitely had a relaxing time and would visit the site again any time.

Positive ting
+ Proximity to the ferry port + Location by the sea (beach, swimming) + leisure facilities
Beautiful natural campsite
We immediately liked the campsite, an idyllic and quiet location in the middle of the forest and by a lake. Of course we loved the many leisure activities in the area, such as hiking, Astrid Lindgren's World, the filming locations of Michel from Lönneberga and Bullerbü, moose safari, nature reserves,... to name but a few. Friendliness and helpfulness are very important here. The pitches are generously sized and the sanitary facilities are relatively new and were always clean. There were electricity columns directly at the pitch, but water was only available at the sanitary building. We had a good night's sleep, which is important to us. There is a playground on the site, but it is more interesting for younger children, at least our children (aged 8 and 11) didn't find it interesting. On the other hand, we liked the bathing lake with a small beach and diving platform. In addition to a small basic supply, you can get fresh bread rolls in the kiosk in the morning. There is an ICA supermarket in the center of Mariannelund, about 3 km away. We can recommend the campsite with a clear conscience.
