"Quiet campsite in the middle of Dordogne - In 2016 we spent 3 weeks at this campsite with our children (4 and 6 years old). What a wonderful relaxing vacation we had here, not least because the swimming pool (especially the flat outlet of the slides) was ideal for the children, see my attached photos. The campground is on a plateau, above Castelnaud-la-Chapelle and about 15 minutes (by car) from Sarlat. There is much to see and do in the immediate vicinity. The campsite is in an oak forest (small trees) with lots of shade. The pitches are in cul-de-sacs with four spots each. Toilet building is clean and equipped with toilet paper and (free) hot water for shower and dishes. For the children there is a playground (in the hottest part of the day the inflatable jumping cushion is empty) and a climbing forest across the road (unsupervised). Furthermore, there is a very limited store (8 m2) on the campsite where sandwiches are ready after ordering and a simple snack bar with terrace for ice cream, pizza and fries. There is no animation for the Dutch children (French-speaking crafts) and once a week an activity is organized one evening (which we cannot judge, because we did not participate).

" - I rented a 2-bedroom mobile home. Very old with outdated decor (moldy curtains, lino with holes). I killed several cockroaches during the stay. Dirty pool (chewing gum & bandages in the water and on the edges). My daughter caught lice. Otherwise the site is very shady and very quiet - no noise after 10pm and one evening entertainment per week. Ideal location for visiting many of the Dordogne's most famous sites.

Camping Lou Castel – Nature, castles, and water fun in the heart of the Dordogne Camping Lou Castel is located just outside the village of Castelnaud-la-Chapelle in the southeastern Dordogne – famous for its impressive medieval castle towering above the …village. The campsite is a great base to explore the many charming villages and picture-perfect castles in the area. Places like Saint-Cyprien, Belvès, Beynac-et-Cazenac, and the famous Sarlat-la-Canéda are all within a 30-minute drive. The surrounding forests invite you to enjoy walks and mountain bike tours. Families with children will especially love it here in high season. Choose a pitch or a cosy rental accommodation The reception is located right at the entrance. Around half the site is made up of grassy, well-maintained touring pitches, clearly marked and spacious. If you prefer renting, you can choose from mobile homes, lodge tents, or charming caravans on the other side of the campsite – the choice is yours. Aquapark fun for all ages Two heated pools await you – one with a retractable roof so you can swim even when the weather isn’t ideal. Between the pools, you’ll find three waterslides for extra fun. And little campers won’t miss out either: a large paddling pool with water jets, fountains, and small slides offers hours of fun in shallow water. Access to the Aquapark is free for all guests.
